i don't like poking at Disney but geez it takes them 2 years just to set up the building for a smoother version of Thunder Mountain and it's literally taken Universal more than half that time to make a more intricate version of Spider-Man. i'm actually impressed at this, not like i wasn't expecting to be but still.

To be fair I actually think SDMT is the more complex build based on the rock work, but yes Universal crazily invested in 24/7 manpower.

I don't see why Disney can't spend a little extra to speed up build timelines, surely the positive benefit of having a new attraction earlier would pay it off. SDMT really should have been opening this summer (and they should have had something major in the pipeline in the works for Summer 2014 - but I digress....)

This ride is pretty great. I actually genuinely like EVAC the character they create for this attraction, I think that was what I was most surprised about.

The Transformers and Spiderman rides are actually more complicated to build then the SDMT due to the 3D. The ride vehicle needs to be in the correct location and the correct time other wise the 3D wont work. This is because the film is made to move with the ride vehicle because if it didn't move the effect would become blurred out, with ghosting. Although they have already done it once for the ride they will still need to work on this again since no two builds are exactly alike, so they need to test and adjust to make sure the differences, if any are solved.

I more was referring to physical construction as opposed to Ride Programming, but you are certainly correct that Transformers is far more technically complex and that poses many delays and issues!

Sorry about that, oh and PLEASE don't hotlink from the server, host it elsewhere first... it's "one" reason we went down (too much bandwidth going elsewhere) We love seeing them shared, just hate having the site crash as well...

I like where this is going. The wrapping paper may not be so bad.

Any wide shots of the wall with most theming.

Nevermind, I now see that its the opening facing the back of Mel's, though it does look like they are adding more detail to the frame around it.

I just heard a rumor the facade is going to look like a giant motherboard/circuit board. While I hope not, I could kind of see it in the design. Also, they walled off the bathrooms by the Animal Actor's stage.

Why? So we can see all the technical stuff for Transformers?
I guess MAYBE there is concept art in there showing the plan for the exterior...then again for all we know that's in a different binder. ;)

I trust what Universal is doing, but I really hope this looks good from all angles of the park and not just a big white box. Also some little effects such as lights or what not kind of like what is on the MIB building at night would be neat.

From the pics, it looks like there will be light fixtures that shine upwards and downwards on each of the "columns." Check out the pics, you'll see cylindrical, metal things there in the middle that definitely look like light fixtures.

See top-right:

when I was there the side facing the music plaza defiantly had cans/lights connected to the columns on the side of the building. I would assume that theme would continue to the Shrek side of the building soon if not already.
