The bracing on the steel in question is much heavier than need be. This leads me to believe that the steel will be exposed and used for theming. It is also possible that something will be atached to it.

Thanks... I was going to ask. I would bend towards something being attached... hurricane proof. But is very austere and pretty as it is. Funny huh?

With all the exposed rivets and detailing I am positive that the metal will be exposed to the public. And I am also pretty positive that there will be something attached to it. Maybe Megatron.

Fun building fact... but I am not sure if it completely applies in these pictures. That steel rigging may not being lifted by chains or steel cables... it appears they are using "slings" which are basically smooth silky fabric fibers in a nylon covering. I own a pair which are tested for 3-5 tons. Just offering this because I was shocked that fabric could be used to lift such weight when I first saw them being used to move mega palms.

I'm loving the look of the building more and more every day, surprisingly!

That huge steel thing looks crazy, I agree with Disneyhead. I could totally see Megatron or another character up there!

I'm hoping for something a little more subtle. But still nice work TPV.

Yes, they used nylon lifting slings. They nylon slings they used appeared to be 5" or so x 4 ply. This size sling when used as a choker is rated for over 20,000#s.
FYI, steel cables are referred to as wire rope slings in the industry.

Indeed... there are so many things and terms I do not know. What I should have pointed out in that post was that they were using slings on the steel work... kinda/sorta suggests they didn't want to damage the paint job... which may or may not mean anything.

Beyond that... I was just sharing my fascination that soft nylon threads could lift such cruel/heavy stuff. (and those slings are kinda soft and slinky... you could hang one around your neck and not feel an itch or pain)

Building is looking pretty good thus far. Can't wait to see what comes of the big steel thingy.....quite the mystery if you ask me. I'm no wizard, but I'm guessing the exterior work should (hopefully) be done by the 2nd week of March (honestly, the exterior COULD be done by the end of this month, but I'm giving myself a little bit of lee way just in case), and that hopefully the ride will begin to soft sometime early April. Either way, the sooner I get my AP renewed the better.

I was told that early this morning there were a lot of people in yellow shirts in the Nassal parking lot.
Not the norm for that hour...

My best bet is that Bumblebee or Megatron will appear on the metal structure. I like StarScream but he's kinda backstory character.

That would be really awesome! Maybe see one or more of them climbing onto the building possibly posed to fight each other

It would be pretty sick if we also got a full-scale Megatron on that corner of the building, gazing over at the entrance, looking ready to jump and attack!
