I wouldn't say it ruins the atmosphere. It's just different. If anything, it's incredibly useful when it rains - which was often on my visit.It ruins the atmosphere as well. You feel like you're in Hollywood until you look up and see this odd, glass/metal structure above you.
I would go and experience it to see what I mean. It doesn't dominate Hollywood if that's what anyone is thinking.
