I do think, in the absence of a garage, moving walkways, or even fully-covered (but open-air) walking paths, that not having trams is an oversight.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but these Universal Epic parking lots appear to be significantly smaller than the Epcot. DHS, or AK parking lots.

yes, and it's bad that those lots offer long, unshaded walks, too (if a tram isn't on offer, anyway).

I want to be positive and hope that Universal provides umbrellas and those giant mist fans from HHN throughout that walkway 2/3 of the year lol

right, should be noted that this isn't done yet and I won't be complaining about this if it becomes clear they're adding shade/misters/whatever.

I wasn't really referring to the lack of shade at either. My concern is lack of adequate capacity for busy days.

I agree, instead of putting more palm trees in these circular spots, some shade structures like these with benches underneath would be much more appreciated.

That's what I had in mind as well. Could have been made into a kiosk for simple guest info and services location too.

This might be a clue to Epic's attendance capacity in combination with projected attendance from hotel guests. If they did build the garages then it would've meant more guests in a park that may not be quite ready to handle all of those crowds until expansions come along. I get the feeling Universal is playing it safe in trying to get as many people as possible into the park but not so much that the overall experience is diminished because everyone's primary thought is "It's too crowded here."

I think they'd prefer it be something like "The scenery here is wonderful." or "The jumping fountains are great."

With the size of that lot, it might be tough to get the 10 million mark.

I think most of the time the parking lot will be adequate. In the event it fills they park people at the north campus garages and bus them. I also think the demand for parking is tapering off with so many guests using rideshare now. That may be a BIG part of why they felt they could get away with the surface lot for now.

What are these sections of the parking lot for? I thought it was covered previously but I can't recall what they were for.

My guesses were public bus or maybe ride share (orange), EV parking (yellow), and special visitor parking (teal). I kinda figured the roadway below the teal circle was for rider drop off if it's not the orange section.

At least when you're coming in from the far end of the lot you're certainly getting your steps in! They probably decided they didn't need it but I'm still a bit surprised they didn't put in a moving walkway somewhere alone the line.

I was really hoping I was done with this but I'll need to go back in and add the preferred parking with solar panel roof.

I don't think it will be an issue during normal weekdays or the slow/moderate season. But I can see issues during holiday weeks and all Saturdays, which seems to always be crowded with locals. That's not a whole lot of parking in that lot. Orlando isn't exactly a bus/train transportation friendly city. During holiday weeks/seasons perhaps they'll use the main campus garages, as you mentioned, and add more Universal buses. I don't know what else they could do. The Convention Center lots are probably filled during those times of year also.....No knowledge, but I'm guessing Universal has an alternate plan. That's a really small lot for a park of this size.

I'm surprised there's so much non-uni bus drop off parking. Is there really that many busses that will be dropping people off?

Yes.

Like every single area resort offers free shuttles to like all the theme parks as a perk.

Maybe it would’ve been too much maintenance wise but it would’ve been so cool if it moved like a gyroscope.

Edit: Unless it actually does based on the wording in that first tweet and I’m stupid lol

If the plan is to recreate what happened at the original site with citywalk 2.0 and an additional park next to epic then no. The parking garage is further away and having the buffer of city walk helps break up the trek to and from. if there was a garage AND a barren walk like the current lot then it would be pointless. I think it's evident why they have did the bare minimum with the parking lot. It's not going to be around long anyway.
