If EU ever happens, I just can't see FB land happening. With how disliked the movies are and JKR going full on bigot, I just don't see Universal wanting it as a cornerstone of a new park.

I think it would make it slightly better, but I think JKR is the bigger issue than FB at this point.

As someone who was one of the only people on here all for FB, I am ALL against it now lol. JK is the problem for Universal as we all know. Universal, Harry himself, and I believe pretty much the rest of the main cast have vehemently spoken out against her. If this is delayed another year or 2 I wonder if they try and switch IPs for the land entirely and just add the Ministry to USF. Probably too late to change but who knows.

We're on the precipice of 9/11-like visitation for a good year, and even after a vaccine we're still almost certainly looking at huge unemployment. All I'm saying is to continue insisting that the park is absolutely happening is naivete when situations like this sunk a park *on this exact piece of land* two decades ago.

I don't think those are directly comparable, though; the Comcast-Universal merger changed everything regarding financials. And before the comparison is made, they're also in a much better position than Disney as Disney just took on a butt-load of debt to acquire Fox that they're still dealing with.

I don't disagree! But the fact remains that EU went from "We're still on target for 2023" in April to firing the vast majority of the EU team, the *entire* UC fabrication shop, and a ton of other support roles in Universal Creative a month and a half later. Comcast isn't the former owners of the parks. They're also clearly not going to barrel ahead with a project in an industry that has the potential for a long and painful downturn.

The park could still happen eventually. But to say it's absolutely, 100% going to happen no questions asked is just pollyanna thinking at this moment. It stands a better chance than it would have in the past, I agree with that.

No the sale to Vivendi did that. Your pessimism is fine in context of the thread the problem is when it gets picked up by others and disseminated as fact, see the countless amount of info that’s picked from this site as fact at other locations.

I can't control what people do with opinions on message board threads.

And who knows what Vivendi would have done if tourism wasn't in the pits when they acquired the parks.

Yea, I like to think that's the biggest difference here. So far, I've been impressed with Comcast's handling of the parks. They are definitely not at all like some of the previous owners of the parks. But we shall see how this all shakes out.

Still a very uncertain time for literally everything in the world right now. I'm remaining optimistic myself.
