People who made that argument were idiots. Spidey, JPRA, Poseidon, CITH, Popeye and MIB plus a multitude of playgrounds all opened at roughly the same time as Hulk and Dragons. FJ opened a year after Rockit.

To be clear, both their stateside additions this year reflect EXACTLY what I want. :)

I still don’t get it?
EU lineup:
-AR driven dark ride shooter (doesn’t exist anywhere in Orlando)
-Launched family coaster where it appears the cars jump over gaps in the track (doesn’t exist)
-Family outdoor/indoor dark ride (something everyone complains UOR doesn’t have enough of)
-Family launch coaster for dragons
-Skyfly Flat ride (not in Orlando)
-Splash Battle Boat ride (not in Orlando)
-Playground
-Dragon Show(maybe)
-Big E-ticket dark ride of some sort for WWOHP
-WWOHP show
-Monsters KUKA dark ride (only two other rides *in the world* use this system)
-Monsters show (maybe)
-Hub Flat Ride
-2 racing coasters in the hub

I just don’t see how that’s an over abundance of “same rides” that are already represented in the parks. If this is a bad lineup attractions wise, I don’t really understand what you’re looking for.

I think my main :concerns" (I use quotes because it's towards the bottom of what I'm actually worried about in life, but I know this board is not the place to talk about those things!) are that I don't want to see Veloci, Hagrid's and FJ become potentially redundant by HTTYD, racers and Monsters respectively.

It'll still be at least a pretty damn good park, but isn't this what spec is for?

I mean, isn’t that what we live for? The new things blowing us away and unseating rides we always thought would be the best?

That being said, I don’t think you have much to worry about. I don’t think the racing coaster is going to go as hard as Velocicoaster does. Nor do I expect HTTYD to be anywhere on the level of Hagrid. Monsters vs FJ is a wildcard. I just don’t know what’s gonna be in that one,

I'll say this: the Monsters ride has potential to be an all time great.

For HTTYD it's too bad Vekoma family suspended coasters have such abysmal capacity. But even so I think that land will be the surprise hit of EU. Sky fly, splash battle and playground = just a very good combo.

I really hope the show isn’t canned. I feel like if it was supposed to be the E-ticket the land really needs it

Who's everyone?

It's hardly a controversial opinion for one to state that they think UOR offered a more balanced and unique slate of offerings pre-2012. I think that's all @OhHaiInternet95 was saying.

I feel like there are sometimes some crossed wires in this thread, where even mild ambivalence is construed as somehow hating on the park. Which isn't accurate.

I don't think it's a bad lineup...

... but I certainly wouldn't mind having one or two more D-ticket dark rides on the list.

Which I can say about every park at Universal or WDW at the moment, in fairness.

Unless the coaster has big show scenes (which doesn't seem too probable based on the space and concept art), the live show appears as though it was going to be the only place in the land to see full-size (ish) dragons. And that feels like it should be a key piece of the overall land.

Which to be fair, I think Islands still provides, despite how badly I miss my Py and Blizz.

Personally I can say I would rather hope and be absolutely thrilled if FJ gets "outdone" and made "redundant" (I don't think this is a thing that would truly happen simply due to differences in story, execution, franchise preferences, etc) by whatever is done with Monsters, It's been a decade and as said there's only been a couple attractions globally that has used this system, surely there's more things that can be done with it.

Why the technology's great. I would love another experience. Disney World is opening 3 attactions within 18 months of eachother. All using the same exact ride vehicle. As long as the story is different, it's different.

I’ve traveled with people who don’t follow this stuff like we do, and Transformers to them is “just another Spider-Man”. None of us hate it, but a THIRD rendition of that ride is not necessary imo, although I want to see JW Adventure from Beijing first, cause the ride system is great and can be used other ways, we just haven’t seen it yet! If it is essentially Spidey/Transformers but a new IP, I’m good. I’d really rather see and expect something newer from Epic Universe

Pokémon or Trolls in Kidzone, Spongebob indoor land takes over Simpson’s and Expansion plot, eventually a new SLOP style dark ride replaces MIB. Great way to change up that area of the park when the time comes. A Trolls land could be very aesthically pleasing if the budget is decent

Trolls sounds like a safe bet for kidzone

In 1999, Universal opened 5 total coasters. After Men in Black until 2010, the only “new attractions” Universal opened were:

Storm Force (2000) - oft’ forgotten flat
Flying Unicorn (2000) - coaster
Shrek (2004) - simulator
RotM (2004) - indoor coaster
Simpsons (2008) - simulator that features a coaster
Rip Ride Rockit (2009) - coaster

“Universal only does coasters,” was a very common refrain in the aughts. After 2010, it immediately became, “they only do simulators.”

Where has "Vekoma family suspended coaster" come from?

I'd say the simulator complaint really started in 2012-2014 with Minions and Transformers.

Transformers wasn't to replace Spiderman but to port that kind of experience outside of Orlando without the Spiderman IP. The similarities are on purpose but that did not matter originally as they weren't going to be anywhere near each other. It is exciting to see what else they could do with the ride type when they aren't trying to replicate Spiderman.

Unfortunately it was. But it was an incredibly unfair one from a very closed minded type of person. Balancing out attractions like Spidey, MIB, Jaws, Popeye, Terminator, HMUS, Poseidon, Earthquake, BTTF, River Adventure, ET, Twister and Cat in the Hat with a few roller coasters does not automatically make a park Six Flags. I'm sure these same people view places like Phantasialand, SDC and Knotts as "only doing coasters" too (have not been to those but they seem very well balanced as well).

BTW, I brought up Vekoma SFC because I think that would've been the ideal model for HTTYD. But the capacity of the existing ones is really, really bad (though not in a way that couldn't be rectified through customization, I guess). It's all a moot point of course.

IMO the ideal coaster for HTTYD would be the new launched single rail Intamin model. Those single rail coaster trains make it feel like you’re riding on the back of something

I never claimed that this was a plan that was close to happening, but I'd rank it on the same scale as Wonka... That deal fell through, so they retailored at least one concept and made their own Chocolate Factory (Emporium). The timing of these events are very likely not just coincidence.
