Regardless of the staying power of the franchise, a combination Dreamworks-land would be out of place in the midst of the rest of the immersive areas:
You'd have:
1) Highly themed entrance
2) Highly themed Nintendo land
3) Highly themed Universal Classic Monsters land
4) Highly themed Harry Potter land
5) Shrek, HTTYD, Kung Fu Panda, Trolls, Madagascar, Boss Baby?

Basically what Alicia said

I mean, Nintendo already has multiple properties/aesthetics represented tho. So that kind of goes out the window. Having similar mini lands in a DreamWorks area does nothing to preclude good theming.

I still wish we could've gotten a fully fleshed out Jurassic World at Epic Universe like the one in Beijing. If Harry Potter can have separate lands at separate parks from separate time periods, I see no reason why it couldn't be there. Plus kids will always love dinosaurs as do many adults, so that kind of staying power warrants a profit from that specific IP.

I can't wait to see what the industry is going to do when the first IP land runs it course and needs to be completely replaced. Instead of replacing a single attraction, they're going to need to rebuild an 6, 10, etc acre land from scratch.

100% agree here. It can be done rather easily imo. Just apply the SNW formula to Dreamworks. Pick about 3 (maybe 4) IPS to represent and give each their own highly themed areas within a Dreamworks "World".

I think the level of challenge on this is a bit overstated. The Motiongate DubaiDreamWorks building is like 11 acres and represents 4 properties very well with a ton of attractions.

lol, no.

Their Dragons coaster is good though given their constraints.

Because Potters lands are different locations, and in the eyes of the public Park and World are the same. And even then people still confuse the Potter stuff all the time.

Agreed. I think lands like Pandora and HTTYD, and the direction they went with SWGE, are going to lead to problems somewhere down the line.

Not sure what the LOL is for, MotionGate’s stuff is good, and I’d take a direct copy of that over what they’re planning for HTTYD in EU

I have a serious question, and I am not trying to anger any fanboys with this one. Do you guys really think that How To Train Your Dragon has the legs to stay relevant enough to be one of the key anchors for this park by the time it opens? I try to stay up to date with recent animated films and have seen the three HTTYD films each more than once, and I enjoy them to an extent, but I rarely hear about them outside of its cult fanbase online. I work around children and it is very rare that I hear these movies brought up among the kids, especially compared to other popular animated film franchises. I have also never seen any of them with any clothing, toys, or other merchandise surrounding the property or its characters. I noticed that none of the three films have made over $1 Billion in the box office, (The franchise has altogether, but not any of the films on their own) and that is typically the mark that Disney and Universal set for a franchise nowadays before investing in a ride, let alone a massive land based on the IP. Coming in at the 11th highest grossing animated franchise, I think that a more general land for Dreamworks or Illumination properties would be the smarter decision here as opposed to building a land based around an already completed (and not super profitable, or memorable) franchise. I realize this discussion is useless as plans can be typically set in stone, but I just wanted to hear some of your opinions on this.

The fact is there's just not that many properties not owned by the Mouse that are going to be "big." It was that way when Islands was being designed too. I think the point is that HTTYD is fairly timeless.

People like Diagon Alley and SNW..... but don’t want more of that? With other properties? I don’t get it, personally.

Mario and Harry Potter are in the all-time top 10 highest grossing media franchises.

Not to say I mind them giving DW properties some love (the good ones at that, between HTTYD and KFP @ USB as well as FFA @ USS).

Not every property is made for a solo theme park land. Also SNW will have 2 properties represented when it’s all said and done, and depending on how you see things already has 3 distinct game franchises represented.

Is there any international appeal to Dragon? You can argue that Nintendo, Potter, hell even avatar are global IPs. Not so sure how popular the dragon series is overseas

I don't think Pandora needs to worry any time soon in a park with what 6 or 7 rides?

Oh I don’t think it’ll get a retheme any time soon, but depending on the reception of the sequels it will be interesting to see where it stands

They did well at the international box office, but weren't in the mega-hit tier.

Very, VERY few are. This trend of solo theme park lands needs to stop imo. If Disney wants to build an Indy land, go ahead. If Universal finally gets the rights to Lord of the Rings, go ahead. But other than that, shut it down.
