Not saying it can’t be successful. I just think in a park with so few lands, pigeonholing your kids section into one theme feels like a mistake, especially when it would be easy to make a great land that features multiple fun family movies

I just don’t think you’re getting more though, it’d more be like the water ride is now Madagascar themed, flying things and play area can be Trolls, coaster is Shrek, show and restaurant is Dragons. It’s not like every property gets a new dark ride.

I’d rather them focus on one, build it out FULLY to real life, and go all in on that to make it as immersive as possible.

I’d trade all the immersion in the world for more to do

But you won’t get more to do, that's my point. The budget wouldn’t change so the rides would be the same as they are, so I’ll take the immersion. If you want more rides that feels like a different topic as I don’t think this would have more dark rides, budgets are a big part of this.

I didn't say Dark Rides. That being said, a lot of budget is taken up by "immersion", which is why I think the industry (at least when it comes to Disney and sometimes Uni) obsession with it is a mistake

I mean they still need to theme the other areas, it just seems more like ride/attraction count is too low for you, I don’t see that changing really regardless of immersed in 1 IP or not.

For day one, sure. But a wider variety of IPs in the land gives you greater flexibility to expand and build those additional rides in the (hopefully near) future.

And I want more dark rides.

I'm ok with EU dedicating an entire land to the one franchise, and Dragons definitely has an "Epic" appeal. I'd rather them save the Trolls, Shrek for USF, and maybe Panda for IOA down the line.

I don't think that familiarity with the IP is necessary when we are talking about Vikings and dragons.

I sort of don't really understand the circular argument. Everyone thinks a park can be successful with original non-IP lands but turn around and say it won't be successful because the IPs aren't well known enough.

I lot of the conversation seems to do a massive disservice to the work of [in this case] Universal Creative and the reasons people love the Parks they love.

I love the Mummy, but it doesnt mean im watching that movie several times a year . I was completely indifferent to Harry Potter before i rode Forbidden Journey.

The connection that gets you through the door of the land or the ride doesn't have to be the overriding fandom. It can often be a vague familiarity. I would argue thats why stuff like Vikings and Dragons work even in parks with Original IP, it might be enough to just....go check it out. I havent really been convinced by any arguments on this board that IPs will have a sell by date at Epic Universe, or that anything we know for phase 1 isnt going to be good enough

I know it's not going to happen, but, it would be pretty freaking cool if they put a Jaws attraction in the park. Would be nice to get that back. I mean we did get Kong skull island in place of the original Kong ride. Although it isn't anything close to the original. Just wanted to put that out into the Universe...so to speak. And no, I have no knowledge that it would ever happen. Just wishful thinking. Btw, they're much farther along than what you might think, just looking at bio's aerial shots, they've gotten a lot of the storm and sewer lines already installed. And if you pay attention to certain areas, they've got some staged for some of the "themed areas". The concrete plant is still there and there's a couple of areas that are growing trees until they're ready to be installed.

It might be for the best just because people would inevitably say that it pales in comparison the original.

I have been hoping that the rumored Creature from the Black Lagoon ride is our spiritual successor to Jaws

What’s Next for Universal Orlando Before Epic Universe - Rumor Update

What rumored attractions could we get at Universal Orlando between now and when Epic Universe opens in a few years?
orlandoparkstop.com

Hmm. If the Broomstick ride really does go to USF, and if there's an Illumination presence at this park, I wonder if they're going to turn the Potter area until a more generic city area with the New York Ministry and the Secret Life of Pets dark ride. It could retain the same general layout as the permits, just with SLOP replacing the Broomstick attraction, and that way they don't go all in Potter for the third time. Makes perfect sense to me.

I think British Ministry is what they want to keep for that area.

"Department of Mysteries" fits so very well given the context of whatever ride the we're getting.

Hmmm. Maybe they could change the SLOP ride to make it take place in London then.

Or have the British Ministry have it's own mini-land exterior wise, then allowing Illumination to have a mini-land of it's own.
