I'm still trying to figure out how Transformers and Rip Ride Rockit are going to work essentially sitting in an entirely Minions themed land? Transformers now part of New York?
As much as I want Rockit to go away, it and Trans are far enough removed from the main street that it doesn't really matter

I mean, maybe if they covered the soundstage in facades it might be an issue

As it stands now, it will be Production Central but with two Minion rides

Yes, it's not like Universal is going to create an immersive land. Minions is just a bit of theming with a Production Central studio look.

Universal is really stepping on their own toes trying to describe this as a land. I think it's just three things that are connected by IP. That's it.

It's a Cedar Fair / Six Flags inspired land. ;)

Cedar Fair has actually been creating some interestingly cohesive "lands" as of late

I like the concept of a Minions area, but when it has been done to a much higher caliber at literally every other Universal park, it's definitely disappointing

I also don't like the whole "Illumination BLVD" thing...random Illumination characters are just going to be walking around near the Minions stuff periodically

Whatever, the other resorts don't have Epic Universe

Minion Cafe entrance same side as Monsters Cafe. New treats shop, "Bake My Day," on that corner closer to Minions rides... Maybe.

I think we're looking at one solid building with a snack window much like the USH setup. I think it's a safe bet the Felonious Float is available both inside and at the window.

I think this and Kidszone is the first step into transforming USF piece by piece. Some people may not like the direction but I think they have bigger plans in the future.

Exciting to see what those will be. I think once this new Dreamworks area is built out the next area to get attention will be Springfield and World Expo. Springfield since the Fox contract is up in 2028 and MiB since a better version of the same ride exists in MK at EU and rumor has it the company that makes parts for MIB has gone out of business.

Others have said the Minions things they're doing feel very temporary

I tend to agree, which is why I'm not entirely miffed about it

Even if that were true (I don't think it is!), since when has having a "better" version of something in another park stopped Universal from doing something before? Transformers and Supercharged are inferior versions of attractions in IOA, and those aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

Let's hope they do have bigger plans for USF, because this and KidZone feel like half-measures to fill time while waiting for EU to open and additional resources to be freed-up.

You got a point there, but that still does not change the fact that many features of the MIB ride cars have stopped working and now there is no way to get replacement parts due to the company going out of business. Plus I think Universal wants to rely on in house IP wherever they can now.

MTS phasing out their main amusements division is a non-issue.

So it looks like this will use an app like SNW so the guests can level up and unlock new features as they go along. Though I think the guns will tethered to a divider where the guests will stand.

I believe @Joe or maybe @Nick said an aspect of this would be a fan favorite or sleeper hit or something

Could this be the component they were speaking of

Capitalizing on the Nintendo model would instantly make this attraction more compelling

That’s brilliant. Legitimately gamifying a theme park attraction that isn’t just a time-killer in a open space.

I think SNW is basically a model for what a lot of what Universal is doing will look like. I've seen a lot of UC job postings based on incorporating interactive elements into theme park attractions. I think gamification might be the future. Wonder if these blasters will be available for purchase?

Points synching to an app and getting free digital collectable is so simple and so brilliant

Especially if you can lock those points behind a $20+ purchase that costs very little to make :) Somehow though, unlike with the Harry Potter wands, I felt like I was getting value out of my Power Up Band and it didn't feel just like a gimmick. It's all so smart
