I think SNW is basically a model for what a lot of what Universal is doing will look like. I've seen a lot of UC job postings based on incorporating interactive elements into theme park attractions. I think gamification might be the future. Wonder if these blasters will be available for purchase?
By that token the blasters would have to be wireless for the attraction. If they went the wireless route with the blasters, how would they make sure that no one sneaks off with one? maybe detectors at the end of the ride? Either make I am excited to see gamification trickle down into future Universal attractions

So it looks like this will use an app like SNW so the guests can level up and unlock new features as they go along. Though I think the guns will tethered to a divider where the guests will stand.

They’re not tethered nor are there dividers.

I bet you’re gonna be able to go around USF using these things after purchase. You get the ride one, then can buy one yourself and get the app. Genius.

Probably the same way they prevent glasses from being stolen. But detectors would be a good idea!

Especially if you can lock those points behind a $20+ purchase that costs very little to make :) Somehow though, unlike with the Harry Potter wands, I felt like I was getting value out of my Power Up Band and it didn't feel just like a gimmick. It's all so smart

My thought is it would sync to the app via a QR code or something

I love Universal's unintentional energy of making the app fun, interactive, and free juxtaposed to Disney's frustrating, tedious, and pricey app

This is assuming any of this is going to happen in the UOapp

At Kong we have two alarms at the exit, and the alarm goes off a lot lol, usually it is people who just forgot to drop of their goggles though, but there are people who steal them.

No dividers between guests and the scenes, or no dividers along the moving walkway?

If no dividers at all, how will they prevent guests from staying in scenes longer than intended by walking in the opposite direction of the walkway's movement?

Understood. Probably for the best

As for stealing, is there no way they can make something go off if people try to walk out with one that alerts a TM since these things already have electronics in them?
Edit: nvm people already said that

Stores have theft protection that doesn’t require metal detectors I feel like it wouldn’t be that difficult to incorporate if they felt the need to

I cannot stress this enough - it's a very very very very very bad idea to walk off with one.

But surely if I put this device that has the ability to communicate with its surroundings in my bag they'll never know I took it!

You know, with this attraction being so conveniently located near the park entrance, I'm sure this will end up being a good strategy for a Getting Trespassed speedrun for some

What about groups of people?

I'll be fascinated to see how they control the flow of guests if there really won't be anything preventing people from lingering forever in a scene, walking backwards to a previous scene, or walking quickly ahead into upcoming scenes. There has to be something, right?

Long gone are the days you visited parks to escape and unplug from reality. . .
