I just found this in my stuff. Someone in Florida gave it to me 10-12 years ago.

I believe that I was told that the road in the foreground is Rt 192 in Kissimmee and that it was the approximate area that became World Drive.

Looking at some of the old pictures, amazing that so many people seemed to be wearing long slacks & dress pants. Don't see much of that anymore. Comfort comes first....I always pack a pair of long jeans for the Orlando trip in case of a cold day/night. I have yet to ever wear them.

The Jimmy Carter Library tweeted out this gold from 40 years ago. I love 5:52-6:00 - "The Presidential Party viewed an Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow".

I can't help but anytime I hear "Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow" in Walt's voice, is always an odd sign of comfort haha. This is a cool find!

For those fans of WDW history, the Orlando Sentinel is running a series of articles each Wednesday looking back at 50 years of WDW here in Orlando and the impact it's had.

Here's a link to the first one from January: Disney at 50: ‘Mystery’ industry changes Orlando’s world

Today's WDW 50th in the Sentinel looks at General Joe Potter and the tremendous work he did to make the WDW property buildable:

Disney World at 50: Meet the general you’ve never heard of who mapped out the Magic Kingdom

The tourists at Disney World are too preoccupied with the majestic Cinderella Castle ahead and the marching band playing “Let It Go” to notice the words in the second-floor window above…

So I guess Florida's climate was much cooler and not humid back then since everyone is wearing suits and ties outside. Yeah, right....Maybe they just had less common sense in the 70's. ;)
