This is driving me nuts.
The issues Uni is experiencing are not uncommon as many have mentioned before. See recent openings of major rides etc...To see wait times this high is a little astounding for a water park, BUT I have never been around to see the opening of a new waterpark; let alone one that has introduced new technology to the queuing system. Let's all take a step back and admit, despite its flaws, Universal is paving the way for some serious technological advancement in the theme park universe. If and when the kinks get ironed out, we're all going to be much better off because of it.
Now...
How VB is being lambasted all over the pisser because of long wait lines with "nothing to do" outside of the slides is beyond me. Would you not, say you attended the opening of Diagon, be spending 6 hours to experience a new attraction while standing in line with nothing to do other than twiddle your thumbs? In the same vein, waterpark or not, this is what people are doing here at VB. For whatever reason, probably the marketing of "no lines", everybody expects to show up at VB and spend the day doing nothing but running through rides over and over again....on opening weekend...of a brand new friggin park...with brand new technology...that's not even finished yet.
The way I see it, you either sit in a line doing nothing for however long or you could sit in a lazy river doing nothing for however long. Either way, you're waiting as you would anywhere else in the world. Meanwhile Flight of Passage had over 4 hour waits the other day and I haven't heard anyone crucifying Disney for a lack of planning.
I'm at a loss for why people are so adamant that VB is a failure only because they have to wait in long lines. It's the summer.
Breathe.
