My suggestion for Universal? Add more interactive things in the park to keep people busy (as y'all have already suggested), and scrap the idea of a massive slide in exchange for a multitude of them. More slides = less wait times. This is something that they need to consider doing in the near future especially if long wait times becomes the norm of VB.

While smaller slides may take more overall, one new big attraction will make the most significant drop in things like the drop slides and water coaster (which will probably be a bigger problem then the smaller slides). I think also that it'd be smart for them to try and make something more along the lines of Miss Adventure Falls with some cool uses of props, set pieces and possibly even an animatronic. It'd really help them sell the theme park image they're going for. Plus having both the water coaster and something like that would put it far above Typhoon Lagoon's roster.

Given that the crowds are lower now that the weekend rush has come and gone, can we all agree that this isn't a "guests wanting to be first" issue and is actually a "Universal has problems with their new tech" issue? Because right now, all $67 + tax is getting you two lazy rivers, a wave pool, and a couple of slides if you're lucky.

Isn't that what any water park gets you when it's at capacity? Less than that if you're not willing to physically wait in any of the lines..

We have to start putting things in perspective here. We might have a park that's going to be a bigger draw than expected, but just like any theme park or water park at or near capacity, you might actually have to consider getting there early, taking a break mid-day while slides are at their peak times, and hanging out later until they start to go down again if you actually want to get on rides.

Of course, they could also consider capping the entry sooner. But you can't have a boutique water park experience at $67 a pop so prices would definitely have to go way up too.

There is no shortage of people on the steps ready to ride the slides. If Tapu Tapu didn't exist, all the waits would be just as long as they are now. You would have of people waiting for hours in a line. It's not like the system somehow slows down or diminishes the capacity of the slides. The park is just new and super popular.

If virtual queuing didn't exist you would just have lines snaking around the whole park.

Do you guys think Universal will begin a tier based Tapu Tapu reservation system, like Disney does with FP+, once the expansion is built? I can see the Mammoth and Water Coaster being tier one while everything else stays a tier 2. It would make explaining which rides you can reserve a spot in the line for much easier.

This is driving me nuts.

The issues Uni is experiencing are not uncommon as many have mentioned before. See recent openings of major rides etc...To see wait times this high is a little astounding for a water park, BUT I have never been around to see the opening of a new waterpark; let alone one that has introduced new technology to the queuing system. Let's all take a step back and admit, despite its flaws, Universal is paving the way for some serious technological advancement in the theme park universe. If and when the kinks get ironed out, we're all going to be much better off because of it.

Now...

How VB is being lambasted all over the pisser because of long wait lines with "nothing to do" outside of the slides is beyond me. Would you not, say you attended the opening of Diagon, be spending 6 hours to experience a new attraction while standing in line with nothing to do other than twiddle your thumbs? In the same vein, waterpark or not, this is what people are doing here at VB. For whatever reason, probably the marketing of "no lines", everybody expects to show up at VB and spend the day doing nothing but running through rides over and over again....on opening weekend...of a brand new friggin park...with brand new technology...that's not even finished yet.

The way I see it, you either sit in a line doing nothing for however long or you could sit in a lazy river doing nothing for however long. Either way, you're waiting as you would anywhere else in the world. Meanwhile Flight of Passage had over 4 hour waits the other day and I haven't heard anyone crucifying Disney for a lack of planning.

I'm at a loss for why people are so adamant that VB is a failure only because they have to wait in long lines. It's the summer.

Breathe.

Did something happen? Or is this just in reference to VB Express.

Guys it's still the first week, and it's also the start of summer break for a lot of families. Lines will be nuts for a while. Let's see what October looks like

As far as "fixing" the issue, universal still allows way too many people into HHN, and hasn't done much to alleviate that issue. So don't act like they have this secret solution they haven't used yet.

Everyone has the means to alleviate that issue on their own. It's called Express. Let's see if they bring it back or not.

The best thing to see would be the numbers of how many people are coming into the park everyday, how many people have express and how many people are riding each slide throughout the course of the day. Operations is probably the parks biggest issue so far, because it's been open for 5 days, and it will (should) improve.

It'd also be interesting to see with these enormous wait times, what percentage of the guests don't have any Tapu Tapu reservation (my guess is less than 5%)? If this is the case then it is a fact that Tapu Tapu is making lines longer; think of anytime when you're at a waterpark waiting for a slide: all the people in the wave pool aren't contributing to wait times, but in this case they are. Now at VB you're down in the pool with them, along with the other people that would be with you in line.... but you're waiting a longer time.

Yeah. I wouldn't even go to HHN without express. I'm not local so weekends are typically my only option. That being said. I can't see myself even going to VB if an express is basically "required" to ride all the slides.

I think it comes down to infrastructure, which I easily noticed on my first visit. The walkways don't seem much bigger.. the spots for food or drinks aren't much more plentiful.. the entertainment is close to zilch.. yet this park is supposed to handle everyone outside the lines?

The hula girls I saw dancing and teaching how to hula dance is a good idea for a distraction. At this point, they should have the minions in their swimwear doing meet & greets, more live music experiences, some beachside games, etc. They should've done this from the get-go regardless as a "water theme park," but now especially that there's complaints of "nothing to do."

Right. Where did all those people go that stand in HHN houses for an hour, or two or three go? Probably the same ones who are complaining about ride times on Twitter. Heck, those crazy long lines for a couple of minute walk through a maze sure haven't been keeping people out of the parks during HHN. If anything, it's attracting larger crowds to be part of an Event. :)

Waits for slides outside the Aqua Coaster should never exceed two hours. (The coaster should never exceed three because you can double-load it.)

If they can't hit those metrics in real operations, I'd argue Tapu Tapu is a failure. You need more slides or fewer people. Express DEFINITELY has to die.

Build an exact copy at the old Wet'n Wild area ;) 2 Volcano bays = 2 times the capacity
But in all seriousness, probably decrease the amount of guests / longer operation hours.

although i havent complained my guess would be to cut wait times in half, maybe 7 hour waits to a measly 3.5 hours
