Wizarding World - Diagon Alley Discussion (Opens 2014)

So I'm not a Potterhead, but between the Weasley's Wizard Wheezes store and Gringotts coaster, WWOHP1 and WWOHP2 will be set in distinctly different times. Something like 2-3 years apart. Hogwarts Express should create a good buffer zone for diehard Potter fans.

WWoHP 1 really doesn't have a set time period. The designers wanted just to make it a snap shot of "greatest hits" if you will.

While I was at Nassal the other day I saw something that leads me to believe that they are prepping the molds for the giant statue that is part of the Weasley Wizard Wheezes' facade. I don't have any pics to share of it though.

And fwiw, I believe WWW is the building to the left of the Gringotts facade.

Hmm, I always figured with the Hippogriff and the Dragon Challenge, it was set around PoA and GoF.

Dragon Challenge dates it a little bit, but if you want to get technical, there was no Quidditch that year.

That would really be something. I wondered the same. It would be interesting to see how Uni could pull off such dark themes with that in mind.

Well, Voldemort is around in WWoHP 1. Dumbledore talks about him being back.

Diagon Alley will probably represent the time between 5 & 6 before Death Eaters ruined Diagon Alley (kidnapping Fortescue and Ollivander). Highly doubt they're going to go for desolate look.

Hmm, maybe. But I know that (spoiler if you haven't seen/read Deathly Hallows) they go to Gringotts to retrieve a horcrux. Hard getting around that without Voldemort coming into picture. Maybe they'll take a different direction with it.

This would make the most sense. A bit darker than Hogsmeade and Hogwarts, but not full-out doom and gloom.

As far as WWoHP 1.0 timing goes, Hogsmeade has to be around Prisoner or a bit after it since Buckbeack is represented, Sirius Black posters are still around, Hermione's Yule Ball dress is still "for sale." Dragon Challenge is Goblet.

FJ is tricky. Dumbledore is still around and Quidditch is a plot point, so Order of the Phoenix is out (along with Goblet for quidditch). Dumbledore does mention Voldemort, though. Aragog is still there, so it can't be past that part of Prince, but it could be earlier in that book. It's definitely after Chamber since we see the Basilisk's skeleton. I think the best estimate for FJ is some point in Prince, but I don't think it was made with a definite time point in mind.

I mean, I'm not counting merchandise as indication of anything.

Exactly... JKR doesn't run from her characters. Her characters are the point of the series, good and bad.

Like FJ, I'm sure Gringotts won't follow a story inside the canon. Will most likely be us taking a tour of the bank...and something goes horribly wrong!
