So no JP expansion? Well after 15 years of speculation, it's not a surprise to see it cancelled :blank: IOA's non-Potter related future seems bleak other than Kong

Are you saying that the entire Jurassic Park expansion project has be cancelled and will not happen? The trike area will continue to remain abandoned and unused for decades to come?

Whoah! This is a surprise.
Does this mean another project is moving ahead on the timeslot? Kong, maybe?

Was told "don't expect JP in the near term". We will see demolition in the area though.

My personal feeling is the KidZone project took precedent, and the funds for this project were moved to bolster that one.

Considering Kong should be/is starting construction in the near future and Kidzone will be getting closed in the fall, can't say I'm surprised. Fortunately the wait can help base it off stuff in Jurassic World.

Kidzone needs more help in my opinion

I'm fine with this if they are really speeding up the KidZone re-do. It's been a black eye on the park for too long

Not to mention it'll give Universal Creative a bigger budget for the later JP expansion. Waiting until KidZone is finished will allow us to see how Jurassic World performs (if it does $200-225 million, the jr. wooden coaster and a flat are likely... if it breaks out and gets $275-300 million, perhaps extensive upgrades to existing areas could also be included?)

Either way, I would rather see all of the projects done right than fast. Especially JP since the area is lacking a true-blue family ride and also any non-adult restrictive rides where you don't get wet

While I was looking forward to the expansion, it seems like the right thing to do. They can focus more on Kong and KidZone and wait until Jurassic World is released just to see if the movie does well enough for them to actually expand the area. Again, was looking forward to it, but it seems better to wait and see what happens with JW.

I'm happy that this is taking a backseat for kidzone but at the same time I really don't want this to turn into a people mover at Disneyland situation where everything is ready for construction and they just don't do it. But who knows? With Jurassic world coming out, it may make a bigger impact on the land than it would if it came out in 2015, you never know

I mentioned a few pages back if it seemed odd that we were getting more info for Kong than for this supposedly opening next year. Well that blows. Plus, they're giving way too much attention to the Studios and letting IOA sit idle for too long without a new attraction yet again. (And yes I understand Kong is to come a year later..)

I think we can all agree this is the smarter and better move. KidZone needs more attention than JP and they can get a lot more out of revitalizing KidZone than adding onto JP. Priorities

The way I look at it, Universal isn't catering to the ankle biters. But they are adding some things around the resort to be more attractive to families that happen to include kids under 5. They are tired of hearing, "oh we don't go to Universal because there is not enough for our little ones to do".

At this point, I actually believe that UOR is a much more well rounded resort than WDW.

Considering 2 out of 4 parks at WDW it's REALLY hard to find anything for the under 5 crowd? I'd agree. And Epcot isn't much better. MK is the only park in any sort of decent shape, and even then it has such terrible capacity problems, but because the other 3 parks are hurting so much worse, I highly doubt you'll see those capacity TRULY addressed with new rides anytime soon.

I was looking forward to this project, but I can understand the re-direct of funds. IMO JP ranks low on the attention needed scale:

1.) Kid Zone
2.) Twister
3.) The Lost Continent
4.) Shrek
5.) Other Random projects in no particular order (JP, Terminator, Toon Lagoon, etc)

Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't the Universal execs say that they wanted to be opening an attraction a year for the foreseeable future? If so, what's 2015's attraction? Will they be retheming or redoing another one of their attractions for next year or just waiting until Kong?

Totally agree with you, HS and AK are pretty much broken in my eyes and Epcot is in need of serious work. Just look at how the fast passes work out and it becomes obvious. There is always something I am in the mood to do at UOR.
