Sorry if this has been asked.

But why (If this is Kong) would they build this in IOA rather than Universal?
I Have to assume it's the skull island theme and not the NYC theme yes?
Someone said something that made me wonder about it on another forum.

Hope its the Peter Jackson film of 2005 for freshness.

*EDIT**Eighth wonder of the world *Skull Island* fits Islands of Adventure best?

I think I just answered my own question lol

The original rumor was for Disaster's show scene to be re-done into King Kong 360 from the tram tour, but Universal wanted to do something unique and it's atmosphere and fact the ride features dinos fit next to Jurassic Park and they had the land to expand there. Plus IOA needed a little shot in the arm with USF getting so much love. Not to mention it will now become the park's only dry attraction in that area of the park, a huge plus.

I'm sorry but do you guys seriously think the skull island setting with the giant cliffs, animals and atmosphere pales in comparison to New York...again? I really don't get this complaint whatsoever. It's not gonna be kongfrontation and I personally don't want it to be. Rather get something brand new and more interesting than the same thing 10 years later

^^Yeah, I agree. As cool as it would be to have Kong back in New York, this is a MUCH better addition. We're getting a full on RIDE, as opposed to an overlay (though there were early rumors that the San Fran section would be torn down and a giant new show building was going to be built for Kong, possibly with a full theatre venue built in as well for Wicked/another show to be placed in as well, but those rumors died fast). The queue and outside facade for Kong is going to be incredible, and I for one can't wait to see it. It's nice to see the Islands getting a "shot in the arm" (mentioned above) at last. Bravo!

It's funny how little IOA needs to be a full day park, hell it's already a full day park in my opinion along with USF

It's not a full day park if you don't want to do water rides if: they are being refurbished/too cold out to get wet/ don't want to get wet, plus if you can't handle the crazy coasters or other rides because of height/ weight restrictions. From what's been explained about Kong, it sounds like something everybody can do. I'm sorry if that sounded snarky or rude or anything, I didn't intend for it to sound that way hahaha.

If I see one more person pull this full day park crap I am going to scream. It is a lame statement for lame minded shallow children and some adults. Really, what is a full day park? Most argue that MK is a full day park... my question is why? Others argue that AK is a half day park... my question again is why? Foolishness.

AGREED 100%!!! I personally don't use the term but brought it up for people to do. Same thing as using the word E ticket for me. Pointless

Scream away, Teebs...Hate was talking about it on the latest podcast. 2 more attractions and a nighttime lagoon show would make it a true "full-day park" to him. I agree! In fact, I'd say it could use a few more "area plussings" along the lines of Springfield too (JP expansion, for example). To each their own. It's a great park as-is, but there's a lot of room for improvement...Kong is a step in the right direction.

Absolutely. It all depends on what YOU like to do individually. I cant decide what someone else's full day will comprise of. I could easily spend a full day at AK or DHS or USF, and just as easily spend less time than that at IOA or Epcot...its all about your pace and what you like to do and arguing over it really is pointless. And I agree with Cole that talking about rides in terms of tickets is pretty pointless as well; nobody uses ticket books anymore, the term "E-ticket" today is completely useless and, again (like the term "half-day"), subjective.

Well if half the rides people are calling D tickets today came out during the time ticket books were relevant, they'd be F tickets. Incredibly outdated way of explaining anything. Just call them big boy rides instead.

But back to kong, has it been pretty much confirmed it'll be in 3D?

Nahhh, I think we'll stick to the ticket system, but thanks for the suggestion.

An "E" Ticket doesn't mean what I think you think it means. Universal has changed the way people look at these attractions, but a true "E" can be anything from Pirates of the Caribbean, it's a Small World, ET, or Jaws to things like Tower of Terror, RnRC, FJ, Gringotts, etc.

An "E" ticket was never designation to mean thrill ride, which many seem to think it means these days. Thrill doesn't have to have anything to do with it. Sure, with a ride like RNRC, thrill has every bit to do with it. However, with rides like PotC/IASW/Jaws/ET, it's all about SCOPE and how the vast scope of the attraction immerses you into an environment.

But then again people say little mermaid and mine train are D tickets and they have a ridiculous scope. You can argue rides like Maelstrom and 3 callbereros are E tickets in that regard. Maybe it's just me but still

Am I the only one who really hopes this ride isn't a 3D type thing? I'm getting kinda tired of all of Universal's rides just being stuff in front of screens.

Also, can anyone remind me which episode of the podcast it was that HTF talked about Kong? I've gotten so invested in Diagon Alley stuff that I've forgotten what they're even building here.

Maelstrom is, 3 caballeros is not.
The ticket system is sort of making a comeback in people's mindsets with the way Disney has utilized Fast Pass +.

But there's a line. Big Thunder is a clear E, so when you compare SDMT, it's not even close. It's still a nicely themed attraction and nice little ride, but nothing to the scale that BTMRR is. SDMT really isn't all that big in scale tbh.

but BTM is on a league of its own that I personally don't think rides like ET and transformers are comparable to. SDMT is very detailed and giant plot wise so how isn't it a E ticket? It's basically an updated BTM. I think alot of the E ticket arguments come from personal opinion of what makes a giant scaled ride. I'd call popeye and Dudley E tickets but some might disagree saying that they aren't on that level. I personally don't see small world as an E ticket either so
