JW will make lots of money. The question is how will it be critically recieved at this point.

The critics didn't like any of the JP movies.

The first one was actually very well-received, minus the few reviews who expected something more cerebral like the book and less creature-feature.

It will at least undo the sour taste of JP3.

I think we just have to wait and see how JW is recieved by public opinion as well as box office results. This is an attempt to reboot the brand and if successful would be a great future project for expansion. Now we just wait, and if an expansion or transformation of JP at IOA is on your wishlist then hope and pray JW is a great successful film.

I'm surprised they're waiting on the success of JW to decide whether or not to add new things to JP. JP and Dinosaurs will always be popular and draw crowds.

Unless they're waiting to see what direction to go with it (rebranding) and scope. I'm still really curious what they can actually do with the limited space.

I revisited a rumor I was told a while back.

I know I'm floating seemingly dangerous water here so I'm not gonna specify exactly when I heard this rumor or its specific contents, but most everything disclosed has happened/is still currently happening in some way shape or form or has been addressed otherwise...*

I will not speculate on timelines etc. outside of stating that I'm sure JW has a lot to do with this.

I will say there is a plan that (supposedly) exist that was not the plan we heard before with the coaster and the dna ride etc, whatever that was...*

I know that is not much, but taken in context with the other things I was told and especially a certain timeline of events... I'm a believer.

That makes perfect sense to me. The movie was so off and on for a time and once greenlit, Uni put a hold on the project they had planned. The project and designs will still be there if the movie flops.

You know I was thinking about that the other day...it all makes sense why they delayed the project and everything now

A statement by Spirit got me thinking "A MAJOR IOA attraction may well be going away. ... "
I wonder if Universal has ever considered replacing River Adventure. The footprint is quite massive: 236,000+ square feet when including the queue, outdoor portion, show building, and overflow pond. Compare that to the size of other major attractions: Gringotts 98,000, Mummy 95,000, Spiderman 86,000, MIB 83,000, ET 65,000, Transformers 41,000.
If the island is rethemed for Jurassic World, this area could be used for several attractions of various sizes. In addition the water/thrill factors of JPRA probably limit it's capacity to be a true people eater, especially during the colder months.

I would honestly hate to see JRPA go as it is quite fond to my heart and some of my best memories. Also, JRPA is one of the most unique water rides that you can find. I mean its not everyday you can get in a boat, float around some dinosaurs, and come face to face with a p/o'ed Tiffany  But, that said, I would completely understand the logic of it if that were to happen. So many other things can be done with that space that it's quite unreal to think about.

That was what I first thought of too. Maybe it could be considered major in the sense that it is a park icon?

First thing that came to mind was Dragon Challenge. It does have a good chunk of real estate. I dont think Rowling would mind if they replaced a shoehorned ride with a new mini land.

I'm thinking Spiderman....even though Jungle will disagree. If the rumors are true and the MCU will be coming to IOA, then this is the one attraction they need to replace. The Hulk is in Avengers and its just a coaster, so they just need to retheme the queue. Same thing can be done for Dr. Doom. Spiderman, however, is still the comic iteration. That will need to be overhauled. Just a guess.

EDIT: I can also seem them tearing down Doom, but that's not major. It would also make sense to remove Spiderman since Transformers is now next door. I get it, different park, but still super-similar.

Hey I love river adventure more than anybody but an entire land can fit in the area that houses it alone. If it gets taken out for something of that scale count me in

I guess my question would be this: what do people think Universal can do with the Jurassic Park (or Jurassic World) concept that would be better than River Adventure? Obviously there's the old jeep ride concept (which would be cool, of course), but that would be Uni simply trading one sprawling (size-wise) attraction for another. I think JP/JW definitely deserves a bigger presence in the park (be it the rumored amber mine/woody coaster, or the Discovery Center dark ride, or even just some additional AA dino exhibits scattered throughout the land), but I'm not sure what kind of marquee "E ticket"-type ride could be a better use of the property than what's currently there.

River Adventure isn't going anywhere anytime soon, the only thing that could change is the obvious Jurassic World rebrand. Jurassic Park still pulls in huge amounts of guests and is one of Universals most sought after attractions.

Spider-Man just got updated. If Universal had plans to replace it, why would they remaster the ride footage?

If any ride has to leave Marvel, it would be Doom.
