Okay, I mean, out of all you can say about TLJ, the Throne Room fight in it is easily the best SW fight scene.

That light saber scene is good, I have to admit. But the AT AT scene, where they are all against Luke and they blow him up. That scene looked ridiculous, I lol'd when I saw that scene.

My fav light saber fight, was episode 3 with Anakin vs Obi Wan.

That's one of my favorite sequences in the entire saga. Luke being the true epitome of a Jedi. Loved it.

I agree to disagree, not knocking your opinion. I find it nice how we can all have our own perspectives and opinions.

That's the weird thing for me about TLJ, that scene and the light speed kamikaze attack, are some of the best moments in any Star Wars film but I found the rest of the movie so, I don't want to say boring but boring.

I can't believe that an overall arc wasn't created from the get go with this trilogy, with such a huge franchise, how have Disney allowed it to be in this shape?

TLJ raised a lot of interesting ideas and I think some of them will be huge in the future and maybe the TLJ could be looked at as genius, a few movies down the road but overall, I just didn't really like the overall execution.

I'm in no rush to go out and see Epsidoe IX, I thought that Solo was kind of dull as well, I fell asleep when watching it and have zero interest in trying again. I liked TFA and I thought Rogue One was probably my favourite out the recent films.

As it stands right now, I think the MCU has turned out to be the superior franchise.

I disagree with your overall opinion of TLJ, which I think is a masterpiece, but agree with the overall point. The fact that there isn't a philosophy and plan behind the franchise is baffling.

Hoping this is way better than Last Jedi.

Agreed Last Jedi was trash. When I see a Star Wars movie I want to have fun. I don’t really want to see a movie that takes itself too seriously and wants to be an art inspired snooze fest. Imo Star Wars is about going to the movies and having fun. I was bored out of my during TLJ and so was 97% of the audience. The only time you heard any sort of engagement in the audience was the Yoda scene (dynasty) and the end battle. Why cause Star Wars is about the battle, the adventure, the saga. I don’t care about 2 hours of useless back story on how we got there, JUST GET THERE and move on to the next chapter. I wanted to gauge my eyes out watching this movie during some scenes.

the "Last Jedi sucks" arguments are so overblown at this point. The movie is just fine. It brought some newer ideas to the table, unlike Force Awakens which basically rebooted New Hope.

If you should be annoyed at anyone, it's Disney, for not having an actual "plan" when making this trilogy. Announcing different directors for each project sounded great on paper, but relying on three completely separate scripts to tell one "overall story" was never going to work. Calling it the "skywalker series of films" doesn't help things either.

Last Jedi felt reactionary to the online complaints of Force Awakens, and now Episode 9 will be a reaction to the complaints (which are much louder this time) of Last Jedi.

In the end, I just hope there are some cool battles, and a couple of surprises.

I have no idea where the franchise is going from here...but there is plenty of room for improvement.

Honestly, I see Ben's Arc as a interesting one in the sense..He had the first chance of redeeming himself; by joining his father. But he decided to stray from the path of light, now into the path of someone who seeks power.

And in TLJ, he now presumably holds the supreme position of the First Order; after killing Snoke. In some ways, he achieved what Vader seemingly planned in the original trilogy; upsurging the Emperor to have the control of the entire empire (and all regions and Providences taken over by the empire), and is above even his grandfather. I can't see any way of them wanting to then convert him back after all this.

Which is why it was the highest selling title in blue ray/digital that year, I’m sure. No one liked it!

The idea that THE LAST JEDI cuts off new territory for the series is certainly a reading.

I think it leaves Rey and Kylo Ren in the most boring and expected of all possible places -- on the same sides they were at the end of the previous movie, with neither having changed significantly as a person. I am 90% certain where those two characters are going to end up, and I'm not terribly enthused about it.

Is there a chance J.J. could surprise me? I guess, maybe. I know the ending I'd like to see (for Kylo Ren, anyway), but I think it's too emotionally complex and nuanced for Disney to pull the trigger on.

I agree that it's a great sequence.

I disagree with the idea that's gaining steam that the Jedi were always supposed to be pure pacifists (Obi-Wan kills two bar patrons in A NEW HOPE just because they were giving Luke a hard time), but Luke's Force astral projection was a wonderful show of restrained strength and power.

My only problem is, then he dies.

I honestly think the only part of TLJ that was bad/should’ve been cut was Finn’s side-story with Rose and the trip to the casino planet. That made the movie drag for a solid 15-20 mins.

Other than that, the movie gets WAYYYYY too much hate.

It's a question of who "them" is. J.J. Abrams may have had different ideas for Kylo Ren than what Rian Johnson did with him, and now Abrams will try to reconcile those perspectives.

The problem is that if you don't redeem Kylo Ren (and he presumably dies evil), then the Skywalker bloodline ends on failure. I don't think that makes for a satisfying ending for this family's story.

Of course, redeeming him has its own pitfalls, namely that we've already seen that arc before.

Oh man I do not agree with your assessment that neither of them grew. Rey is less naive, more driven, and knows her place in the universe, while Ben is no longer conflicted. He is the dark lord.

I have a hope on where Ben ends up as well, but I don’t think JJ is creative enough to go for it

I love that he dies. It’s the most badass, heroic thing he has ever done. It cements him as a true mythic hero, one that will inspire countless people from here on in, and one that can never fail. Gives me goosebumps thinking about it.

On the pacifist thing, Obi Wan doesn’t cut the guy’s arm off for messing with Luke, he cuts it off because the guy pulls a gun on him.

Finn’s side story is a bit shaggy. No disagreement there. It could have been reworked a bit, but I don’t think it’s any more shaggy than the majority of the Cloud City storyline in Empire.

TFA is candy. TLJ is a fine wine. I’m not surprised at that. But the idea that “97% of the audience” disliked the movie is nonsense.

In some ways, the Skywalker bloodline always met in failure.

Anakin fell into confliction against the ways that the Jedi was teaching/ruling, while Palpatine was sharing that the dark side isn't always what it is; and when the time came, fell from the path of light. Even with his "redemption", he died the moment he first was put on the mask.

Luke, in some ways; isn't that far off from the tree. He nearly fell at the final battle of the Empire, and even when training Ben; nearly fell to killing his own nephew. And while yes, he did stop; he in some ways; fails as a teacher. For both Ben, and Rey; as he didn't exactly have what was needed. We can praise his farewell all we want, but that doesn't entirely change that he is extremely flawed.

Admittedly, the one that hasn't had this issue; is Leia.

I think there were just a lot of people who refused to believe a Star Wars movie could put you to sleep so they tried again.

Especially because it was the first sequel to the original trilogy since 1983.

The bigger problem than anything is there was no Feige here with an overall vision for this trilogy. They were just sort of making it up as they went.
