Personally, for a stunt show, I think the effects and stunts are way more important than the story. I hope they're not over thinking things.

It's not like the T2 story made a lick of sense.

No, but story (and dialog) issues really really hurt Sindbad, despite it having incredible high fall on fire stunt.

I had heard there we some... creative issues... a long while back. While the tech and visuals were up there, there's elements that just flat didn't work like they intended.

To me, it looks like F&F Supercharged with a stunt show thrown in front of it. Poor CGI and acting.

I hope I'm wrong but I've now got a bad feeling about this whole thing.

Unless they showed us all of the best they got, looks like it'll be a cool, if not very cool stunt show to add onto a day at USF. Seems like an addition this park has needed for a bit. If the show is 20 min or so and it is indeed a stunt show, doesn't leave much room for a cohesive or well told story. Just make the stunts cool and make me laugh once or twice and ill very likely leave happy.

Man I do not see that at all.

Ehhhhh. The problem with Sindbad was there was *too much* dialog and story. It wouldn't have been so bad it had been more stunts and less bad jokes.

Well, of course they showed some of the better parts. But, you bring up an interesting point about the narrative and length. The Bourne films are at their best when constantly moving. Their chases, especially, are spectacular. The narrative of the show should be 25 minutes of a (near) non-stop chase. Pre-show sets up what Bourne(?) took from Treadstone, and the chase is on. Literally, they only need one or two lines of dialogue (told via radio transmission/video) that sets up which country Bourne(?) is in now, then keep chasing until he ultimately gets away. The clip of Bourne(?) climbing the tower while everything pans is stunning. The car/motocycle chase we glimpse has potential. Those are quality moments and feel like they're right out of the movies.

That crowd scene, though...

It's very stagnant. Literally just two people stage fighting in front of a screen. And it's very "not Bourne." I don't recall ever seeing such a flat scene in any Bourne movie where Bourne stops long enough for a crowd to form around him.

Practically, I get it. It's a scene that likely allows stuff to happen backstage. However, it's going to be something that grinds the "chase" pacing of the franchise to a halt.

More tower climbing. Less Indiana Jones-esque crowd scenes.

There’s actually a scene in Jason Bourne where that exactly happens. Right down to the desert-ish scenery.

Pins are back!!

Attraction video looks really good. Hollywood section of the park is still shut down from the Today Show filming.

Ya these are all terrific points. I have admitedeley not seen a Bourne movie in years so I can't speak to those specifics, but, if the show is action (like the tower climbing/motorbike chase) then stops and does something like the fighting, then does something like the heavy action again, it could create a tonal issue throughout the show. Hoping it keeps its high energy as much as possible for however long the show runs. They're gonna have to slow down at some point for the actors to breathe and other sets to get in place as you mentioned, but if they do this after every "action" scene, we could very well only get like 3 fully fledged stunt scenes depending on the timing of it all. Still sounds cool, but I can see how that might disappoint people a little bit.

But, in my own eyes I was incredibly impressed with what we saw today. And remember we're all watching from behind the lens, imagine in person!

Yes... but keep in mind that's because of the fact we were in tight shots using a Television Camera.

In person, you're going to see it's a screen and you're going to see the edges. You obviously aren't going to see that when you're watching a TV clip through a camera that intentionally keeps that out. The further back you are the more screen edges and stage you'll see. So the closer you are, the more "immersive" it will feel.

So everyone ooing and ahhing- keep your expectations in check because all you saw was a carefully curated video.

That said, I think this show looks great and if the choreography is good; which it looks like it will be, I think we have a knockout on our hands.
An unfortunate detriment to it's success, specifically because its on the Studio's side, will be that it's yet another screen based attraction. T2 was also; but this one will likely have a bigger pull based on quality alone so it will be more obvious.
In summary, demolish Shrek.

Look at how the structure collapses and then stops and bounces at the end of the video.

To me it looks like a PS3 level computer game. It's like the shadows or bit depth isn't high enough.

But then there was Sindbad. Stunts were cool. Story was weak and the original dialogue super corny. They cleaned up some of the corniness with the partial rewrite redo, and changed the martial arts/stunts somewhat. But the story stayed somewhat similar to the original and just didn't connect with the audience, for whatever reason.

I think they could be hesitant due to how they screwed up with F&F. They could be doing some iteration to make sure they get it right this time.

It will look much better in person. Seeing the characters actually hanging, actually fighting, actually doing the stunts.. that's the important part. The extra effects behind them are neat, but what I care about are the stunts and performers.

That being said, I think this format could work better for a more animated type show, for example Pokemon. Combine real actors for characters like Ash Ketchum, with animatronics/puppets for characters like Pikachu, with background animation for scenes like a Pokemon Stadium. Or just do Smash Bros like is already somewhat rumored for EU.

As far as I know the marketing team was preparing for a March 12th grand opening, and the date was supposed to be announced on the Today show today... but, earlier this week I heard it has been postponed, and I have not heard a new date.

Some TMs are saying probably April.

Boooooo. Arriving on the 13th so would have been cool to see it on this trip. Oh well.

I get your point but I think the whole point of this show is to "show you a movie", screens and all, but with an extra layer of real time action and actors. By doing that you should forget you are watching a stage show or a movie. Just like in the cinema you forget you are watching a movie when it's good, there is a moment that is sucks you in. The same goes for a play, look at it recorded on a screen and it looks crap but when you are there you are at a point you believe it is real. I remember one time I spit out an egg on stage, saliva and all. It rolled off the stage to the front row where an audience member picked it at, I ordered him to throw it back to me and he did. He was clearly excited as being one of the guys in the stable with Mack the Knife. No one ever, would pick up food that came from my mouth, and return it to me in any other situation.

I think the problem they are having is to find that point because the way this show works, is't never done before, the audience doesn't know the rules (unlike a theater or cinema). We shouldn't know them but it should feel as natural as those other media and I guess it's not there yet.

That would explain the jerking motion. They’ve sold it well with adding a flash of light at the moment of the explosion.

I’m still set that the backgrounds don’t look good.
