Take this with a huge, huge, HUGE grain of salt, but Behind the Thrills is reporting that a Back to the Future coaster is in development: This is heavy! A Back to the Future Ride could be coming to a Universal Park near you?

Just read the article. VR on a coaster? That seems like a great recipe for everyone puking.

As much as I would love a BTTF coaster, this doesn't seem right. The VR stuff especially. Why would I want to wear a VR headset on a coaster?

I think it's a fantastic idea. I think 88 mph feels a lot cooler for real than it does sitting in a stationary simulator.

Disaster, Kidzone?

I really like the idea of using the coaster for the speed and feel of motion while having simulated visuals! I think this is the big thing that all simulator based rides have lacked.

Silliness... that is just some young guy dreamy dreaming in a CGI program. Some of you get so carried away with this stuff. It is not in the plan.

I agree while I would love to believe this, it's just way to easy to get a 3D model of the BTTF Delorean and merge it with a 3D coaster model. In fact the Delorean looks completely unaltered from what I would expect a 3D model of the actual Delorean to look like. If this were really being developed I'm sure some type of design compromises would have had to have been made.

The point when I knew it was fake is when they said you would be chasing Biff. Any new version would not copy the same story of the original.

Although Universal if you are listening....we really do want a Back to the Future indoor coaster.

There's an update on the Behind the Thrills article, seems to confirm this is just a fan creation. I do think this is a great concept though!

I actually wouldn't mind a BTTF coaster at all. I'm thinking of a coaster where you fly through hill valley in different eras while having the BTTF theme blasting on speakers in the ride (kind of like Rockit). That would be so crazy.

Well if they don't want to build a completely new ride building, if worse comes to worse, I say use Terminator for this. ;)

I picture something more along the lines of Test Track

I always pretend I'm on a BTTF ride when I'm on Test Track anyway haha

Also, a concept like Dinosaur at AK would be neat

^ That works for me!

So, everyone, load up your music players with the dramatic music and plug in at Test Track. There, Epcot is popular again.

Quit living in the past/future!

BTTF is an old franchise now, it wouldn't last unless there is a reboot on the horizon. Which I doubt there is.

Even without a reboot, with the resurgence of popularity of the movies, a new ride would sure as hell sell a lot of merchandise.

I've seen more JAWS and BTTF shirts now than when the rides existed..I would imagine Universal would benefit from reviving them

I think Universal does a great job remembering and recognizing the classics. If they didn't, then I bet E.T. would not be where it is today.
