All in the Details: The Faces That Guard Beast’s Castle in New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park
By far, one of the areas of New Fantasyland that I’m most excited to explore when it opens December 6 at Magic Kingdom Park is Beast’s Castle (and the Be Our Guest Restaurant within). The castle itself and the amazing level of detail our Walt Disney Imagineers have put into it, just astound me – especially some of the external detailing.

If you remember in the film “Beauty and The Beast,” Belle was originally a bit cautious when she entered Beast’s Castle for the first time … before she was welcomed by Lumiere, Cogsworth and the castle’s other enchanted (and enchanting!) staff members.

To create a similar effect here at the park, Imagineers included a host of beasts, minotaurs and other grotesques in the exterior design of the castle that make it truly the home of a conflicted Prince-turned-Beast. Once inside, guests will be welcomed at Be Our Guest Restaurant, which features a glittering ballroom, eerie West Wing dining room and Rose Gallery.

To be fair... HM does have a seasonal overlay. However, when I went last Aug, it was a walk-on whereas HM was a 30 min wait without the overlay.

I wish Disney kept all these details a secret, it'd be flooring to actually see them all when the expansion actually opened. Imagine if we got every little detail of Hogsmeade revealed beforehand?

Well HM currently has it's Holiday overlay, so that's not unusual crowds for the ride at this time of the year. And honestly, 20-30 mins for LM is actually pretty long based on all i've heard of average wait times for the ride.

I think this is opening them up to a lot more criticism as well. I know you need content for your Blog, but maybe you should keep more things under wraps. People will never been surprised when they've already seen a sugar coated of your new experiences.

It was a busier weekend, being Columbus Day and Gay Days at the park. Hate was saying even the food cart stands had lines.

Fantasyland Expansion has some really good additions to it. I don't think anyone here is denying this.

The complains stem from the fact...

1.) Disney is adding only two new rides in a $300+ mill expansion
2.) Disney has not added significant new attractions in many years in the four parks
3.) Recent addition trends show that older kids and adults will either have to wait for DLR to foot the bill of design, settle for new restaurants, or go to Universal for more complex offerings

These are big issues, and no matter how interactive a story time is, it won't plaster over the very real problems the resort is facing.

Just heard from a very trustworthy source that Mermaid may be doing very limited soft openings as soon as this weekend! The crew is completely trained, and there were a lot of managers and upper level types going in and out of Be Our Guest and the area heading towards Mermaid today.

As always with soft opening news/rumors, take them with a grain of salt, but I trust the person I heard this from.

From Disney Parks Blog

Be Our Guest Restaurant Kids’ Menu Treats Little Ones to Grown-Up Tastes at Magic Kingdom Park
With no chicken fingers or burgers in sight, the Be Our Guest Restaurant kids’ menu features delicious options that let kids dine like grown-ups. But you can be sure that the Disney chefs have made the flavors friendly.

“We’re making the ketchup from scratch using carrots,” said Walt Disney World Executive Chef Lenny DeGeorge. “And the meatloaf also has vegetables and bulghur wheat, so kids are getting their vegetables and whole grains and don’t even realize it.”

Along with the turkey meatloaf shaped like Mickey Mouse, the kids’ lunch menu includes a carved turkey sandwich on multi-grain bread, with sweet potato wedges instead of fries and peach applesauce for a touch of sweetness. There’s also roasted pulled pork with sautéed green beans and sweet potato mash. Pasta lovers will like the whole-grain macaroni with marinara and mozzarella, and if your kid will try the fish, they’ll love the mild-flavored mahi-mahi served with a “salad” of broccoli, cucumber sticks and grape tomatoes (perfect to eat with their fingers!) and peach applesauce.

Dinner adds a child-sized grilled steak with fresh vegetables, grilled fish of the day with whole-grain rice pilaf and fresh vegetables, a grilled chicken breast with macaroni topped with marinara and mozzarella with fresh veggies, and the turkey meatloaf and whole-grain macaroni with marinara and mozzarella.

Yes, you still can request French fries. And each meal comes with 1 percent milk, bottled water or 100 percent apple juice.

Kids get treated to a grown-up dessert – either a fancy cupcake or cream puff. We bet you can get little ones to eat their veggies when they know these delectable sweet endings are next.

PHOTOS - Beast's Castle and Prince Eric's Castle in the new Fantasyland show-off spectacular lighting

The Magic Kingdom's newest castles were undergoing lighting tests this evening in the new Fantasyland.

These may well not be the final looks as the effects are still being tweaked, but both look absolutely spectacular after dark. In particular Beast's Castle shows all of the lighting details that you see in the much larger Cinderella Castle, which really gives the sense that you are seeing a large castle in the distance.

Head to the photos below for a look.

Also just throwing it out there. I've seen LM's wait time at "30 minutes" VERY often and it has never been that long. The longest I ever waited for it was 15 minutes. It is a people eater.

I know what you mean about false wait times and the people eating capacity of a omnimover but trust me, it was 30 mins+. I kept wondering if I had picked the worst weekend outside of peak Summer to go and I think I did. Is it normal for the PoTC queue to go all the way to the HM extended and and then back? Is it normal for Space Mountain to have a 180 Min wait at 8PM? Is it normal for the Corn Dog queue to be greater than 30 mins? Not being sarcastic just asking. The cast members I spoke with said it was CRAZY and haven't seen crowds like that in a long time. Many of them stating the crowds weren't that bad during most the of the busier times this past summer. The parking garage was full by noon btw.

I would compare the crowds I experienced this past weekend to be even larger than a sold out HHN Orlando.

That is EXTREMELY abnormal. I've been in July (recently) and haven't even touched that level of capacity. But that also points out just how much of a people eater this thing is. It DOMINATES crowds.

WDW has seen the occupancy rates at their flagship resort (The Grand Flo) hit as low as 42% repeatedly this summer. This NEVER happens. The Grand historically hangs in the low 80% range.

Believe it, don't believe it. Makes no nevermind to me. But Disney has a spiraling problem on their hands and given that Disney's ability to recognize and react to a problem is nonexistant, I predict that their numbers are going to get much worse before they get better.

I think we will definitely see an attendance spike once this new FL is open. As I mentioned earlier, Disney's hotels are absurdily pricey. With so much competition in the area, its amazing to me that they can even get away with pricing this high. Not to mention Disney just has too many hotels on premisis in the first place. It's it's own competition.

Need a sarcasm font on my computer as I was only teasing hence the cheeky wink. But in defence of Disney again (I must come across as the biggest fanboi lol) we are in a recession so that is always going to hit occupancy rates as people chose to save money and stop off site but point taken lack of new attractions doesn’t help. I am not saying Disney shouldn’t do more or do better just that FLE is getting a lot of stick on here and I think some of it is unjustified
