I don't think we should count an attraction as being as "screen based" bc there's screens used for a very short period of time. The point was does the attraction heavily rely on screens or not (something that depends on screens to operate). If a screen/projection appears in a small part of an attraction, it's not "screen based" imo.

Bingo.

Are we seriously having the "screenz!" conversation?

Who cares as long as it's a great ride?

Variety, as well as actual dimensional sets & characters, matter in making a great theme park. The amount of new 3D attractions HAS gotten a little out of control at Uni... but at least Gringotts should include some awesome sets and animatronic characters as well.

But Transformers has sets.

And honestly, it's just not possible to do TF with Animatronics. I know that was the original plan, but they found out pretty quickly it's just not gonna happen.

I don't believe that for one second. I just think it would've been very expensive to place some highly articulate animatronics in the ride and the company decided against it. Look at Hopper in its tough to be a bug...or the yeti before disco mode...or the T. rex in Jurassic...they could've done it..the technology is available nowdays. I think they just chose not to.

I don't think it would have been possible now to have giant transformers fight in every scene. They shouldve at least have
The transformer that is actually there at the end have moving parts such as a mouth. The set is so detailed but it doesn't do anything

The yeti failed catastrophically. Hopper is 1/3 the size of a TF AA. And the T-Rex has movement WAY more simple than what would be necessary to make a convincing Transformer. Building AAs like that would have been a money pit and a maintenance nightmare.

Disney, the KING of AAs, could keep an AA that size working, and that one didn't need to be fighting another giant AA. They made the right decision.

the fact that this is still going on, like construction, is beyond comical.

Really? Most of them seem to be fairly pro uni at the moment, or at least not against it.

Plus, their opinion of Lou mongello is hilarious.

Track Completed at Seven Dwarfs Mine Train in New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park
posted on June 5th, 2013 by Jennifer Fickley-Baker, Social Media Manager

Walt Disney Imagineering just marked a milestone on one of the remaining attractions under construction in New Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom Park. Check out the photo our Imagineering friends just shared with us to see one of the last pieces of track laid in place at the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, which will debut in 2014, is a family coaster that will take New Fantasyland guests on a journey through the mine where the Seven Dwarfs spend their days digging for gems. The attraction will feature music and characters from the classic Disney film “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.”

What do you think so far? Will you take a ride when the attraction opens next year?

OK, I have bashed Disney many times for speed and this is taking so long. But the statement you made is something that happens many other times in the theme park industry. Look at HE.
