General Discussion - Jurassic World: The Ride

Hoping for better things for SLOP. I guess I was aware this is the first ride from UC West. Maybe they pushed the opening too much. Oh well, lessons learned.

SLOP will be the first ride from UC West built from the ground up. Alot of their issues seem to stem from the fact its an overlay to an old ride vs. totally brand new.

UC West Coast is learning project management on the fly. Obviously they didn't do their preproduction properly. They didn't have everything ready to install before they they started the project. This happens every time when people are inexperienced and tackling a major project. I used to be a post production specialist in the video field. I would help people organize everything before entering their edit sessions. You would be surprises how many people enter an final edit session without even having their credits list written down. At $1,000/hr for a top end editing suite, you don't want to spend 2 hours on the phone trying to get the proper spelling of the name of the sound guy you used.

They will learn and get better at it.

The quality of this new refurb thus far has me very skeptical on getting two massive AAs to battle or work in sync together

I mean if they can't get two doors opening and closing reliably...

Just realized, ride of the resistance video of the escape pod changes from night to day never realized it’s a nice touch. I really hope that they get the night mode working and the rain mode working for the next refurb.

I thought the night mode was working, I feel like I've seen it in a video before.

Rode the ride a couple of times yesterday and hadn't kept up with this thread about no I Rex so I was very surprised to come around the corner and hearing the I Rex noises coming from... nothing. Not a great look and I think I'd rather them mute the noises than keep it coming from nowhere, at least until the T Rex swings out.

Doesn’t look too bad, I mean if you don’t know there’s supposed to be a dino there. There’s plants, and historically we’re all used to the ride just ending with the T-Rex anyway. We know it’s missing, but new riders won’t.

Still very much looking forward to seeing how this turns out come April.

The entire point of even changing this to Jurassic World was to feature the Indominus Rex and it's the one component that's barely worked.. Not making a trip to USH until this thing is in true A mode as intended.

I really Can't believe what a mess this has all become, I also have no idea about what the big finish will look like but hope its worth all this time.

Also I know it would piss off some...but rather the ride go down from now until may to get the endign perfect and add more to the middle of the ride which feels so much more boring than the original ride.

You're right, it would rub a lot of people the wrong way. No matter how much you advertise and reach out to people to let them know a ride will be down for a significant amount of time, there will be people that will always say, "Why didn't anyone tell us?!" But I would fully support a "super refurb" if it meant finally getting the A-mode ending and making Predator Cove feel less like part of the line you go through before the actual ride. UC could do SO much with that area. Maybe do something with a live person like the original plans for the first JP ride. But if they did go down for a long time, they'd have to advertise it creatively, something like a "JW is uninhabitable while we search for and contain the escaped assets", even work it into the surrounding area with the meet-and-greets.

I wonder what the General public think.
Every time I ride it people seem to love it, all smiles and cheering at the end. My friends who are definitively don't read boards like this like it and don't mind as much as me and others the new "meh" spots in the ride.
So in honestly I'm sure Universal is happy with the reaction to the ride...not happy it went over budget and is going to cost to fix it up more.

Yea and some people also walk off Fast and Furious with a smile aswell. Universal isn’t dumb, there was a reason they were conducting surveys literally days after opening the ride. They understand this ride is not hitting it off the way they thought. They know.
