One problem with a ride/attraction based on the original Ghostbusters is their age. Unless they do it like the 90s & have lookalike actors rather than screenbased footage. Even queue video.

However, if they set it to modern day, you can have them reprise their roles in the mentor capacity. Rip-off/Copy the Transformers & MIB gimmick of us being the "new recruits"

The original show at Universal didn’t utilize the actors’ likenesses right?

They did, including the revamped 2.0 version which added Luis Tulley to the pre-show. But it was such a short stage presence of the actual on-stage actors.

However, the street show, I believe they went for very loose interpretations. Like they were supposed to be a "new crew" for Beetlejuice to torment.

What I mean is, the actual actors did not film any new content for it. Their characters appear in the show, but not the actors. Not even the original actors’ voices are used, similar to Matt Damon not being used for Bourne Stuntacular.

So, it would not matter how old the original actors are now if they were to do a show like that today, since they don’t involve them in the original anyway. I think like you said originally, they’d just go the lookalike route like the original show for a new show.

So with Ghostbusters confirmed to be represented both in the nighttime show and the parade (and presumably the tribute store), is a more permanent GB attraction still on the table?

I definitely think it's more likely now than I would have a year ago!

The possibility of one is much higher than before and I think Universal is serious now with creating experiences based on things with no Corporate synergy mandates.

If they are going for a show, I think upgrading or retrofitting it into Fear Factor wouldn't be the worst idea depending on how crazy the tech is. If it's a ride, it deserves to be in NY but there's no room.

I would love to see a Ghostbusters coaster with a couple of indoor dark ride scenes to replace HRRR.

There's always the possibility Mummy could get replaced with a GB ride or coaster.

I rather see Jimmy Fallon replaced by Ghostbusters. It'd only be fitting.

What location would make the most sense for a new entrance? Over where Rockit's station is now (assuming it gets demoed) or in between Minion Mayhem and the main gift shop?

Another thing to think about is if the new coaster station goes into NY they could get rid of the firehouse on that side and rebuild it for whatever this GB idea is.

It would feel very strange to not have your GB attraction in New York, but I'll take it wherever I can get it, I guess.

Why couldn’t they use the firehouse once the coaster is gone? Use that area for covered queue space before heading into the theatre, or change the theatre entrance somehow to the back. This feels like an easy change.

Reading between the lines, probably because this is an entertainment budget project and they either use an existing theater or put a show in the streets. But that’s me speculating.

This would still use the existing theatre, just re-routing the entrance. Might depend on the layout for the coaster. If the area that covers over the stage now can’t have us walk under it or with coverings, I guess it could be difficult. If not I see that as queue area personally.
