Being in California has advantages, Not a fan of The Hostel films but Why doesn't Orlando ever offer these kind of things?
Universal Studios Hollywood will be holding another short-film contest as part of their annual Halloween Horror Nights promotion. The park dares filmmakers to submit their most twisted horror short films which will be judged by a small panel of industry experts, including Eli Roth. The winner will have their film shown on Chiller, Syfy.com, a $1000 cash prize and a trip for two to the opening night of Halloween Horror Nights 2011 where they will be at the Eyegore Awards. Click here for the details.

I know Orlando and Hollywood are totally different, they are talking an Evil Dead type house, wasn't a severed hand a part of that? I tend to believe Death or Fate (either a female) is the Icon or house they are leading to.

Take this with a grain of salt, but I've heard somewhere that the commercials for this year's HHN will be made by the same people who made the commercials for Halloween Horror Nights 13 (The Director).

Alright so were figuring 8 houses, anyone want to take a shot with some early predictions.

In no order, and obviously complete and total guesses.

SS-House regarding character of Death
SS-War of the Living Dead House
SS-Creatures 2
Disaster-Haunted Buffet
Jaws-Catacombs
Sprung 1-Magician House
Sprung 2-The THING
Parade-Dealer/Casino House

I also think that we will see another "The THING" house this year. After the success of the first house and also considering the fact that a new THING movie is being released this October this would be the most logical time for Uni to create the second installment of a THING house.

First off... Welcome to the board.

Next, I don't think their will be a "The Thing" house due to the fact Universal is trying to remain COMPLETELY original/new in this new era. However, it's still a posiablity and time will tell.

I don't think The Thing should be counted out just yet, that house deserves a comeback and even if we are in a new era now would be the perfect time for it to come back. It's safe to say that about 99% of the people who attend the event this year will even care or remeber last years tagline.

I agree that ICONS might be all new and not to rehash the past at least until 25. If they could market an upcoming film, I think The Thing is a good possibility. As a Catacombs prequel type house. small blast from the past without making it the main focus.

First off, your welcome. I went on vacation and as I said the site update. Great to see that Universal is finally doing a Motorhead event.

All joking aside, really excited about this. Much like Zbob I'm a huge Fallout fan and this reminds me of New Vegas in all the right ways.

I think THING has a very high chance of coming out. It's based on a separate movie than the original (though the same series obviously) so I'd consider it fair game. And we all know how much A&D loves The Thing, not to mention how much the executives love promotional tie-ins...

Strong rumor that's been making the rounds - a pirate ship house located in the Jaws queue. Think about it - it's cramped, musty, claustrophobic, dank - and could make excellent use of water effects (right next to the lagoon) as well as the cargo net scare. Pirates isn't a theme we've ever really seen at HHN, yet it's one that holds great potential...

I've never been to Vegas, but isn't there some kind of Pirate ship show? That would show how this could tie-in to the event itself.

I'm so glad someone agrees with me. Also this marks the second time I've been reminded of a video game I played the year of that year's HHN since the Doctors in Catacombs looked just like the doctors from Assassin's Creed 2.

Yeah, but those doctors actually existed during the plague.

And Mr. House and the NCR also exist. Don't hate.

Seriously though, I'm doing research on this and for all the nay-sayers saying "Not original." Go look up "Las Vegas Horror Movies" or "Casino Horror Movies". There are a few here and there but it's a largely untapped market.

I wasn't hating. Just stating the fact that the Catacombs house was inspired by actual events (except the whole trying to kill you aspect).

There may be (never been to Vegas), but I don't think everything's going to be tied into Vegas itself - rather, I believe the event is center around the idea of Fate and Chance in general, the temptations of gambling and other aspects of life and death. As such, Pirates tie in quite easily, as they were avid gamblers and often challenged fate in their nefarious and dangerous actions...

Gotcha. Even though I'm attending HHN Hollywood, I like to follow the discussions around here. The people I've heard on other sites talking about HHN Hollywood don't seem to have their feet planted on the ground. They're actually speculating that a Hellraiser maze is going in at Hollywood because a new direct to dvd feature just came out :bonk:

I'm going to USF tomorrow, I'll see if I can sneak a peek behind the curtains at the JAWS queue!

A house based on The Fog, JCs version, would be fun.
They have done the Thing twice in the past several years, time to move on. JMO
