OI has a story on the shutdown. They claim that the Kuka arm moving the fog ending screen malfunctioned during testing Tuesday night and the car crashed into the screen, damaging it. They said the ride is operating today without that screen or effect. Anyone know if this is accurate?

As of my ride this morning the screen moved via the Kuka arm was not there at all during any part of the finale. So for all intents and purposes this is a totally plausible story.

I will say that this is the first time out of all the times that I have ridden Gringotts that both the heat and fog effects have worked. So at least with the fog effect working now I felt that the lack of that screen's prescense isn't as noticeable to the general public.

This was my mom's first ride on Gringotts and she didn't even know that there was suppose to be a screen there until I told her. She thought that everything looked great and that it was a spectacular ride.

Is it possible that the kuka arm failed while the car was part of the way through? Basically, the kuka pulls the screen up, the car starts moving, kuka blows a hydraulic line or something, and drops the screen on the car/in its path, etc. It would be a scenario that would explain how the car and screen could collide.

The screen is pulled to the left of the track. And it's not like the car is launched while the screen pulls away. It pulls away, and only once it fully moves is the cart allowed to progress.

This. If the screen doesn't pull back the car doesn't launch and the ride e-stops. Ta-da.

I wasn't suggesting that the launch happened while the screen was moving. Even if the screen was moved to its completely clear position and stopped, a failure of the kuka arm could allow the screen to move again. If this caused the car to e-stop, it could be sitting right in the path of the screen.

I thought from my rides, the screen moved up and out of place, but if it is off to the side, it would depend on the orientation of the arm to determine if it could even fall back into the path of the car.

And again, I'm not saying this is what happened, just trying to think of a scenario where the car and screen could have collided. Unless someone here actually knows what happened and posts it, we are all just speculating anyway.

Wow, conflicting info bigtime.

HTF says everything looks great but didn't mention the cutaway hole at all.
Frank says the screen cutaway was better and worked fine.
Now Felipe says it is just a hole in the wall, no kuka cutaway pulling back.
Sorry for the confusion folks, I rode again this AM and I was again seated in row 6. I now know understand my confusion better. The hole is pitch black and I didn't notice the screen was missing for the front car does a good job of blocking the view of the hole, since it is so dark in the next room, I just perceived the hole as the front car blocking my view of the screen, really, if you are looking where the scene is trying to direct you to look, I doubt many will even notice there should be a screen there. I can't say what it looks like in rows 1-3, but from my two rides in row 6, I really did not notice. I do think the fog was better timed/lasted longer, but it is also possible I felt this way for you no longer see the screen moving.

But the heat it certainly on time now which was not the case back in Sept and there is now at least a little bit of water splashing on you where again that was not the case in Sept.

I'm not saying that there isn't an issue with the screen being missing, but if it did "crash"... I highly doubt it would be open 3 days later and that it just so happened that other areas were rehabbed and such.

Unless there was a glitch in the programming... If this really happened, I'm glad it happened overnight when no one was on the ride.

Definitely a scary scenario and wouldn't be shocked to see that kuka arm out indefinitely

Yeah, this Bermuda Triangle, Black Helicopter, Frozen Walt talk has got to cease. The best case scenario is that the ride kept e-stopping at this location because the overseeing computer system (and yes, I am playing dumb typing it that way) was not receiving satisfactory confirmation that the screen had been pulled. Bottom line is that it has been shut down, perhaps for further analysis of the communication issues.

Well, let's just hope that, whatever the issue may be, they get it fixed and put the screen back in place soon.

Rode it at 10:30 am Heat ,fog, water and all effects were working (do not know where the pull away screen is).
It was a great ride

Did they upgrade the hologram effect in Bill Weasly's office ? It seemed sharper than the last time I rode it.(aug, sept 2014)
Maybe just the angle I was at?

They tweaked the lighting in the background so the Musion projection looks much more solid. I noticed the improvement last night.

I visited the bank today and all the stanchions that were in the marble hall of the bank are all gone. Instead, there are some temporary chain ones and instead of all the switchbacks it's just two big queues that lead to Standby and Express. I asked a bank guard and he said they were "trying something new".

Yeah, they bored all of those mounts into that lovely terrazzo(?) floor and now they aren't going to be used. What a pissah.

I'll tell you what though, it was nice to see it like that again. It reminded me a lot of Team Member preview.

I will say as of closing last night the pull-away screen was still MIA.

I do like the way the lobby looks without having the normal line stanchions in place. It made it feel that much more authentic and bigger.

Do you know if it was possibly rented out sometime during the downtime? I know the Republican Party of Florida was having a convention at the Hard Rock Hotel when I was there this weekend.

Rode yesterday and all effects were working well, minus the screen door. Looks very bad, IMO. However, I took a few friends that have never rode Gringotts and they said they didn't even notice the hole in the screen.
