For the ones worried it's not that amazing of an effect anyways. You won't notice if you miss it or not, I sure didn't lol

It's a great effect. I would hope someone who cares about it in the company is trying to get JKR's attention, because otherwise I think it's going to be a while before it's fixed.

I am frustrated that I can't get any info on the issue. That makes me think it might be insurance/legal/operations related; that someone isn't satisfied with its reliability. Perhaps it began to reset on its own after a coaster was released and got dinged on its edge when it should have held back in open position? I would imagine that is was a close call based on miscommunication or no communication or worse, a rogue mis-operation that they don't understand.

I have it on pretty good account that the necessary steps are being taken.

Really over the seesaw? Your out of your mind. I mean it's cool and all but it actually took me a while to notice it, thought it was just another ol slidey door. Whatever floats your goat I guess

Cole, what do you think is the greatest ride at a theme park ever created? What do you think is beyond reproach?

My vote would be The Haunted Mansion, when properly cleaned (sans location appropriate dusting) and maintained. And pre-Constance.

My favorite part of the ride is the track mechanism for the dragon scene. That thing is a monster and I would just love to be standing down there while the ride runs admiring what it does.

The effect is good but not great, especially on the first couple of rows you can really see the outline of the door and most of the times there is not enough smoke.

PS: Am I correct in assuming that there is also suppose to be smoke just before the door opens and then again once the door is open? Most of the times when I have ridden, there is smoke just after the door begins to open.

You mean at the second troll scene, yes? If so, that is my favorite as well, to see how the track moves there is amazing!

I know you weren't asking me, but for me: Spider-Man, Gringotts, Tokyo DisneySEA's Tower of Terror, and Tokyo DisneySEA's Indiana Jones Adventure are all as close as you can get to perfection.

Haunted mansion, it's flawless in theming, every scene is incredibly memorable, effects aren't dated and it lets your mind wander. It allows you to come up with millions of different implications and theories through it's design and execution. It's a ride that changes through different perspectives and ideas. Deep I know but this ride is deep to me. Close seconds are pirates (at DL), and Indiana jones for the same reasons. Hope that answers your question

I would venture to say it changes based on stages of life as well...I interpret many of the scenes much differently now than I did when I was young..crazy

It really does!!! It was terrifying to me when I was a kid, just the scale and grotesque moments just gave me nightmares. Now everything is up to my level and as you mature you grow a greater appreciation towards the craft and ingenuity of it all. One thing I love to do is look at it from different perspectives. If you pay attention to all the details like the ring in the queue, stretching portrait, floating candelabra and the dancers, the ride is suddenly all about the bride. Go on it again looking for all the ghost host details it's suddenly about him. I can go on it for days (hell I could live there) and find new things to love everytime. Theme park magic everybody, it's awesome

Oh yeah...speaking of amazing attractions

I find it funny how people are already calling this the Yeti of Universal..

I made a remark that it isn't the main focal point of the ride and it hasn't been down for a decade yet, people got mad..
