I just really hope they build this quickly so they have plenty of time to test. Building an INTAMIN prototype is bound to have issues delaying its opening. Look at their track record with Flacon's Fury, Maverick, Shoot the Rapids, etc.. They may end up having to build then rebuild things...

Wait, this is an Intamin? Didn't the last Intamin water ride almost kill people at Cedar Point?

But, hey, they got rid of the conveyor lift that seemed to be the problem. What can go wrong on a prototype elevator lift? :bolt:

There's also a conveyor lift on this ride, so I hope you know how to swim.

Here's a challenge, make a raft ride that gets me wet, but doesn't soak me to my core..

I only ride Popeye once a year because I have to bring my swimsuit to the park with me..

You can buy an entire microfiber outfit (Polo, Cargo Shorts, Underwear) at Walmart for about $35. Just dress in microfiber and a good pair of padded river sandals and you can go from wet to dry in about 20 mins. I work outside in FL in August (all year, actually) and have to look professional while doing it.

Well I bought an AP (dirt cheap at the time) when they opened Antarctica. I won't make that mistake again so the reviews have to be stellar for this, Mako they are. With the two I might be persuaded to venture out again. Time tells

As bad as the ride is, Antarctica doesn't even bother me because we got a decent new land to go along with it and I love the new penguin habitat.

I am not a water ride person, but this looks very cool! I really hope it turns out to be as lush and natural looking as the videos and pictures and they incorporate the Terrace into it well. I was wondering how they could make a rapids ride unique enough to attract visitors and this is it. I love the rain forest theme and the drop is awesome. I was actually wanting something like this for Busch Gardens Tampa so I was surprised and excited to see it coming here. I think it will be a great addition to the park and can't wait for it to open next year. I am very happy they will be incorporating the Sea Garden animals into it. I was hoping they would do that. This doesn't make up for ending the breeding program though...

Was hoping the same thing for BGT, but they do have Congo. My hope for BGT is that they make an addition similar to this, meaning NO MORE COASTERS.

Back on topic, I love the addition. I don't think Antarctica is a total bust of a ride, but I don't remember the hype before it opened either. To be honest, I thought Mako was a bigger letdown for me than Antarctica. Hope SeaWorld continues to make additions like this down the road.

Thinking about this a bit more, with how poor Journey to Atlantis has been refurbished and Kraken VR.

Nice to see so little negativity about this on the thread. It just seems like a complete winner for Seaworld, really looking forward to watching it progress.

Little to no negativity because it's a straight forward rapids ride that is themed to things SeaWorld knows how to create.
Lush landscaping (Check)
Ancient Ruins (Check)

And they're leaving out things they absolutely suck at
No elaborate story line? (Check)
No animations, No abstract thinking? (Check)

Most of the time when SeaWorld/Busch sticks to this formula - they end up with world class rides.

I think the never-before-done new-to-Orlando elevator lift is going to be a great eye catcher too. Really stands out for Cobra's Curse at BG, drawing in guests. And the architectural design of Infinity's lift does seem reminiscent of Cheetah Hunt's sculpture-like first hill and drop. They've really mastered this type of stuff and should definitely keep bringing us attractions like these.

Turtle Trek and Antarctica seem like misfires to me. Like you said, they don't handle story execution as well as thrills and outdoor theming. I'm really excited for this one for sure. It's going to look great in the park.

^And FYI, a lot of parks have successfully installed rapids rides with elevator lifts. This is proven technology and is only new to Orlando. Even Legoland is doing this.

Jurassic Park in Singapore also features an elevator lift. I'm not sure if Intamin manufactured that ride.

Talking about the history of these rides, I'm actually a little surprised to see one being built after what happened in Australia last year.

Issue there really was horrible maintenance, apparently, they also had missing slats on the conveyor.

^^I agree - although unfortunate timing for SeaWorld as I know that they've had a rapids ride on their radar for over a decade.

And loose hanging theming on the rafts, with ropes that were falling off from bad maintenance. Compare that to how clean the theming is on the JP Singapore rafts I was just looking at:

Quickly went to the Intamin site to see if there are mentions of other similar rapids they have done and found there is one in Legoland Denmark, found a POV as well:

That looks like a pretty big drop for a Legoland ride. Looks really cool going up the lift! Excitement building for Infinity Falls.

SeaWorld really have the worst luck.

I hope it's clean sailing (No pun) from here on out. Hopefully they can also ride the wave (Again, no pun) of all the new tourists who will be expecting to travel over the next few years to Orlando.
