I agree they need to cover HP attraction better, and I hope they are planning to bring back the entrance gate on TL side.

Again there is just so much to do with JW. Like they could push 10 attractions if they really wanted to (that number will probably rise with upcoming sequels). Wish they'd just start anew with JP and get rid of everything besides RA, but still give that an upgrade. They might've killed it with DA but they can destroy it with JW

They will, once Kong is more complete.

Also - I'm on Team Replace JPRA.

I wouldn't expect the sequels to deal with a park again. Gonna move into a different direction.

I'd rather them just upgrade the hell out of it. It's a great attraction, but could be greater.

If they want the sequel(s) to be any good, they'll have to exclude the park. The park just suffered an enormous PR nightmare, there's no way an immediate return to the park would ever be believable.

They'll also need to make sure that the writing is a bit better for a sequel if they aren't going to have a park to fall back on. Obviously dinos will be in the equation, but the way they did it in JP2 proved to be a bit of a let down and was very forced. I'm hoping for a bit better in a JW sequel.

FWIW, our podcast this week is going to specifically deal with our review of Jurassic World as well as our Tornado Tag Team of Keeping JP vs Introducing JW to Islands of Adventure. Though now, the debate was a little bit harder when it was only projected $120 million....

and we're gonna have a couple special guests.

I think a monorail isn't a bad idea to bring just to the section, just don't if it's logistically a good idea. I mean, they theoretically have the space. Just don't know if they wanna litter the island with beams.

doesn't necessarily has to be guest transport above ground

They're definitely not going to go that route. At that point, beams are better option.

Trying to incorporate Jurassic World into Jurassic park is challenging since one should not exist while the other does. To me it doesn't make sense to change the visitor center as it's very iconic to begin with and would be a huge cost without even creating a new attraction.

Assuming they're not willing to do something extremely drastic here's my thought on a more moderate approach to implement it. The theme of the area is an operating Jurassic Park which really didn't exist in the movies to begin with. I think they could go with this but build a Jurassic World Preview Center. The implication could be that things aren't exactly going right with JP but this new park will fix all the problems. This could be a building with displays and exhibits. Perhaps a Gyrosphere simulator to show what the ride "will be like". They could set up a petting zoo area and perhaps have a much more advanced version of the animals you ride around on at the Artegon mall.

Whatever they end up doing they need to sell Scanbands that work like the wands in the Harry Potter lands to allow you to access special features.

I think this is kind of falling victim to over-thinking. I don't see why UC wouldn't just leave what we have as Jurassic Park, and add gyrospheres / petting zoo or whatever with the Jurassic World branding and aesthetic. I don't think it would be that jarring to have each existing at the same time for different attractions, and also it would mean we get the best of both worlds and don't have to decide which one to keep.

It's tricky because this is an IP with a theme park setting. In the movie world - JP failed, InGen failed to bring it to San Diego and Hammond sold his shares to Masrani who eventually perfected the theme park for a time.

In the Theme Park World - JP failed, and Hammond rebounded with this alternate idea.

So in summary, Jurassic World doesn't exist without the failure of Jurassic Park. It's gotta be one or the other.

I think you're putting too much stock into the land's story, which 99.999999% of guests will never even have the faintest idea of

I totally get the conflict on a story level, I just don't think it's significant enough for most guests to even be aware of, or for it to spoil the enjoyment of those who are. Even as a huge fan of the series, I would be completely happy with this arrangement. I think in terms of drawing people in, super cool Jurassic Park ride + super cool Jurassic World ride = profit.

I think that's basically what I suggested. If you want to work within the theme you have to have some way to differentiate the two. Obviously they have already put some JW signage in JP so they may very well just ignore the theming and use the two interchangeably. I think if they do that though with permanent attractions and such without some sort of explanation built into the design it will come off very tacky.

Maybe. Just the way I look at it, personally.

If Comcast isn't regretting their decision about Kong, it must mean they have some big ambitions for that franchise. It's pretty clear that everything they do has a synergy component at this point. At the least, they must have some big ideas for food and merchandise.

I think River Adventure will dictate the name of the island. If they destroy the ride, they can level the entire island and start new. There's a lot of land there. It would also dictate a new name. Anything less would make for construction nightmares and smaller attractions. I would think all of those rides would go under the Jurassic Park banner.

And TL seems out of the question. Water rides have a lot of behind the scenes land. That would be an excessive amount of space for one franchise.

If Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley can coexist in two different time periods, why not Jurassic Park and Jurassic World?

Jurassic Park
  • Discovery Center: Upgraded tech to resemble the Innovation Center
  • Mr. DNA dark ride: entrance inside Discovery Center, show building on north part of Trike land.

Jurassic World
  • River Adventure rebranded (but not renamed) to Cretaceous Cruise
  • Thunder Falls becomes Winston’s
  • Gyrospheres circumnavigates Camp Jurassic and Trike land
  • Virtual aerial tour (like HelicopTours with Soarin-ish ride system) on remaining Trike land
  • Camp Jurassic adds Gentle Giants exhibits
