Two points...

Cameras out is usually more about safety than anything.

Point 2 though.. The workers have to deal with it constantly and get a bit of attitude about it. Usually they'd tell you to put it away, but then the person keeps filming and ignores them or pretends to put it away. So now everyone who has a camera is assumed to be the type who will ignore them or pretend (how do you think Alvey got that video?)

It's not really the right response, but it's how they've come to react due to many interactions that went that way.

Not sure how true or not this is but saw on Twitter last night TPR Robb posted about taking down his POV video per SW's request but then mentioned that secured Gopros will me allowed on the ride. Not sure if he meant that they will be allowed for the general public or just on media day though. Thought that was interesting if they did allowed them on for anyone as long as they were secured.

SeaWorld should not be threatening to kick people out so easily. They need the money.

I feel that the way the dealt with @BriMan is absolutely ridiculous. That's not how to deal with Guests. Even if there is a potential safety issue, that is NOT the way to address the situation, especially if you are a manager. I am sorry but I don't like when people act arrogantly, especially towards fans and paying Guests in general. Safety is the number one priority, but it should always go hand in hand with courtesy.

Unless they're an AP holder and I'd be willing to bet that there was a slightly higher than normal amount of AP holders in the park that day.

I was surprised at how strict they were being with loose articles, of any kind, yesterday. My first two rides I rode with my glasses (didn't have a strap with me, I've never needed it on any coaster in Florida, only on Falcon's Fury have they said anything) with no issue, and then the next two rides they took them, my 5th ride I just gave them to the ops (I kept getting stuck on the load side outside seat). So best bet is to make sure you have a strap for your glasses/sunglasses, at least for Mako. I'm willing to bet things are still the same on Kraken and Manta, they don't care.

Probably because of the part where the coaster flies over the walkway, causing them to be more vigilant.

Manta does, twice, with you facing down. I don't really care because I have like 5 different straps I've accumulated over the years, I just have to remember to bring one now.

Good point. Maybe a lot of newly trained staff that play it by the book. The way Manta goes over the walkway is less twisty though, but then, you hang in Manta, so the chance of losing your glasses on it are much higher. I know on Falcon's Fury they tell people to take off regular glasses as well, apparently the reason is that when tehs eats go back to normal they can fly off.

Yeah..it could just be all around safety. I don't think they're trying to be punts with a c, I think they're just taking precautions because they have money to make back and lawsuits don't help that. SeaWorld is one of the friendliest parks right along with busch imo, and while I do bleed universal I've witnessed more encounters like @BriMan at Universal than any of the other park's combined.

Wait? I have to take off my regular glasses? That is not gonna be cool. I can't see without my glasses and I am not supposed to wear my contacts right now. Argh! Might have to take my contacts and then just put them in for this ride.

I agree with devin, when it comes to customer service normally SW is top notch. I never had issues at Sea World with my son, every employee was helpful and understanding to our needs. First Aid was awesome. Best First Aid ever! They are there 24/7 so they had zero issues storing things and they made a point that we did not need to rush back at park close, to take our time. I cannot say the same about Disney or Universal First Aid and cannot say the same about Universal Customer Service.

I imagine they have gotten yelled at several times and wanted to make a point so it wouldn't be done again.

No. Rx glasses are ok. They'll ask you if they are prescription before asking you to take them off.

Awesome! Because I don't want to buy straps for glasses I won't have very long.

I know Mako lacks inversions but I always get nervous at riding a multi-inversion coaster with my prescription glasses on, and always take them off at last second. I hate that it robs me of clear sight of any views and that inertia and the fit of glasses should keep them in place, but I'm less anxious and more able to enjoy it. It's absolute pure paranoia haha.

I'm hearing that Mako will be soft opening every day up to the AP Preview Day on the 8th, but don't interpret this as a concrete statement. Also, by Sunday the ticket system should be out of use and a normal soft open should occur.

They didn't with mine, and even if the Transitions tinting hadn't gone away completely they're still obviously Rx glasses.

I'm willing to chalk it up to just wanting to keep dispatch times down, but they definitely never asked me. Not a big deal for me, but I wouldn't count on them to ask, or still let you after you say they're Rx.

Crap. I can not see a single thing without my glasses. The good news is I am local and I can go on this thing after my surgery when I no longer need glasses. So hopefully they let me wear them, otherwise I will be back at some point again.
