Completely agree. I can't help but notice they're a publicly traded company with some bad financial prospects right now. Mobile + licensing are (somewhat) of a Hail Mary to get their finances in order. I hope that didn't influence their control in all of this.

Nintendo has had a bad run, but they still have a laughable amount of money in the bank. I think their next system will fail, but the minute they release their first game for PS4/Xbox One (yes I do think this will happen this generation), they'll instantly become the most powerful game publisher on the planet.

I think they also have some phone games in development. Pokemon on an iPhone sounds like a no brainer.

Well, the Pokémon Company is coming out with Pokémon Go which is a phone game. But I don't think anyone should expect straight adaptations of Nintendo IPs on iOS/Android coming from Nintendo

I always thought Pokemon was owned by Nintendo, today I learned.

If Mario Kart was released as a phone game, it would be a neat feature to have online battles in the queues for rides.

With the fact that they're aiming to use Unreal Engine 4, and to start mass production next year that will be over 20 million units..i'm having a feeling that Nintendo is preparing for the next console, due to it seeming like that they are going to do something crazy much like the original Wii.

That being said, back to the topic of Nintendo in the Theme Parks..as the NX is in the films, games area of the forums..

I mean, sure. I'm sure THEY believe in their next system. I do not.

Why do you think it will fail? Nobody knows anything about it yet.

Skip's pessimistic, I'm more optimistic and think it'll do well enough.

Nintendo no doubt will be very specific about what they want and allow. But this is a good thing. It means its going to be done right.

Because it's coming out against two systems that are entrenched, one of which that is selling faster than any other system in the history of video games. I'm going to buy it, but I don't see it doing much better than Wii U.

Especially now with the recent release of the new Apple TV. No way they'll release AAA titles for iOS when they're essentially surrendering a console/hardware sale in the process.

They just need to find the next big family thing. The main problem with the Wii U was that it was a complete 180 from what the Wii was, a dedicated screen only one person canuse does not scream family to me. Add in that it was severely under-powered compared to the next gens and it really had a few hurdles to overcome.

I believe the next system is coming very soon with the date of the new Zelda game being pushed back indefinitely.

The new Zelda game hasn't been pushed back indefinitely. It's coming out next year.

Also, the Wii was severely underpowered too, but sold a lot. The Wii's problem was everyone bought it for Wii Sports and didn't buy other games for it. The thing had a terrible attach rate.

Zelda got pushed back a year for what 1 or 2 years in a row now? They had the same track record previously when trying to decide to make the jump to the next console. I expect to see more of the same here..
Wii did gangbusters and sold incredibly well. Third Party may have had some problems on it but Nintendo made out like bandits. It screamed fun and had the WiiMote add-on been part of the original Wii I may have enjoyed the Wii a lot more. Our girls loved it but I wasn't about to put that much more money into it to hope that my waggle was more accurate.

It's only been delayed once. It may come out for NX too, but it's coming out for Wii U too.

Wii's the highest selling console of all time. I know how well Wii sold. I also know relatively no one bought any games for it.

I think they'll have learned some valuable lessons from the struggles with the Wii U, focus on families, get back to basics but probably offer some kind of innovative, appealing twist, and probably be rather successful.

I personally see their Universal deal as the beginning of the Disnification of Nintendo, except with games at the heart and not movies. By the time that fully happens, the move to different consoles will just seem natural.

Whatever happens, I hope this deal results in a new edition of this:

Alert the media! I just watched a few videos of the Mario Kart game - wanted to see the obstacles and stuff. I also got a surprise answer to why something needs to be able to happen every so often in the game. I was all, "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh! OhKay!".
