That kinda sucks considering we only know of there being one AA.

As James Cameron explained it on The View, this land is essentially a sequel to all 5 movies he plans on making.

The backstory to the land is something like the Na'vi let us in after the war (and they rebuilt) because they wanted to share their culture. It's pretty stupid, but I the the na'vi will be in the rides (either AA or screen based) and there's 0% chance that we will see them within the land themselves.

The issue with them "walking around" or doing M&Gs is that they wear minimal clothing and they are also significantly taller than humans. This gives you an idea of how tall they are in comparison. Stilts wouldn't even get you to the height needed I don't think.

Tarzan wears the same amount of clothing. I know Avatars are larger than humans but if they are at a distance, on an elevated stage, they'd look okay. People are going to expect to see a "live" one.

Disney's showing off some more dishes from Pandora, and explaining a new way to pre-order your quick service meals too: First Look at Menu for Satu’li Canteen in Pandora—The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom | Disney Parks Blog

Steamed pods, (bao buns) with either cheeseburger or vegetable curry, served with root vegetable chips and crunchy vegetable slaw:

Satu’li Bowl with fish, served atop red and sweet potato hash, with crunchy vegetable slaw:

First they talk about the backstory:

Guests can enjoy creative, flavorful dishes based on the healthful bounty of Pandora, with wholesome grains, fresh vegetables and hearty proteins at Satu’li Canteen, where an on-stage grill is a prominent feature in the colorful dining room.

The Satu’li Canteen was once the main mess hall of the Resources Development Administration (RDA) base located in the Valley of Mo’ara. Now the canteen is owned and operated by Alpha Centauri Expeditions (ACE) tour company and has been redesigned into a beautiful museum-like dining room.

The interior has been transformed with colorful Na’vi items filling the walls and hanging from the ceiling — hand-woven tapestries, natural Pandoran elements and even cooking tools decorate the restaurant.

Then they talk about the food options and preordering:

Look for familiar dishes with a twist in the fast-casual restaurant, with bowls that allow diners to customize their lunch or dinner. Diners start with a base of quinoa and vegetable salad; red and sweet potato hash; mixed whole-grain and rice or romaine and kale salad. Next is either with wood-grilled chicken, slow-roasted beef, sustainable fish or chili-spiced fried tofu. And the bowl is finished with charred onion chimichurri, black bean vinaigrette or creamy herb dressing.

The menu also offers steamed “pods” – bao buns with either cheeseburger or vegetable curry and served with root vegetable chips and crunchy vegetable slaw.

For little ones, there’s an option of grilled chicken or beef, fish or tofu with greens or rice; a hot dog wrapped in Parker House dough; cheese quesadilla, or a steamed “pod” (cheeseburger bao bun).

The fast-casual restaurant will also be the first to offer Mobile Order, a new convenient option to order and pay for meals on-the-go within the My Disney Experience app, allowing guests to bypass the queue to order when they arrive at the restaurant. Using the app, guests can select menu items, customize their order and pre-pay for their meal. When they arrive at the restaurant they will tap an “I’m here” button in the app, which will notify the kitchen to prepare the meal. When ready, guests will be alerted through the app to pick up their meal at a designated window. Additional fast-casual and quick-service restaurants will begin to offer Mobile Order later this year.

Disney Dining Plan is accepted at Satu’li Canteen but, at this time, Mobile Order only accepts credit cards.

Believe what you want, I have heard this from several CMs at DAK who are dealing with this. The GP is dumb. Yes, I agree there is an upturn in attendance in all the parks this week (apparently it's spring break in Canada as well as a few other places), but there is a significant number of people who just saw hype for "NEW AVATAR LAND" and never bothered to find out when it was opening.

Ok I can agree that people don't know when it was opening, I originally read it that guests were making special trips to DAK ago see it. Which I don't agree with at this time.

That Mobile order is very good. Yes, it's not as convenient as "order- give a time- get food"- but let's be honest- how many meals would they be making for that 12:10 pickup that doesnt show up until 12:40- if at all. The "I'm here" button essentially lets you bypass ordering in line- so itd be the equivalent of cutting everyone in line the second you arrive. I like it.

They have tried systems similar to this in AK before, I seem to remember a picnic bag one. it was ordered at a kiosk in the morning and was ready to collect at a window or booth at your set time.

Yea, this is the best innovation they could've done. As much as Disney wants us to plan everything, it's impossible to predict when we'll be done at an attraction and how long it'll take to get from where we are to the location... And this way, the food is fresh and still warm when we go to eat it. I like it.

I like the look of the first food picture. Like the healthy options for the meals.

It looks great, but I wonder if some of the choices are going to be a little too "out there" for some guests - the same guests that go to Epcot and look for burgers and chicken fingers.

While not quite a burger and chicken finger guy, I don't see anything there that I'll be trying.

Yea, I better get there early before they change the menu like Skipper Canteen after those guests complain. -- I will say, at least Pizzafari is nearby to appease the complainers.

Exactly.

Also, upon looking at the pictures again - that wood-grilled beef looks a little more gamey than cow.
