So.. anywho..

I'll be spending part of this rainy day in Pandora. I'm allowed to take photos, and express my opinion about things there.

Should I post here or will the site spontaneously combust from my evil doing of evilness?

Interested to hear your thoughts on this land. Honestly. Not picking a fight.

So I came with a cast member friend today. My time in was 12 but they let us enter at 11 and for the first half hour we've had free reign of the land to ourselves. We rode the River Journey twice in a row because they just let us right back on. Everyone has been given a return time to ride FOP. So just walking around now exploring until my return time comes up.

Let me know how they end the timeblock. I'm right on the cusp of sunset with the block I'm allowed in an i hope we can linger long enough to get an idea of the lighting effects and such.

Disney should take their drone tech from the Disney Springs show and have small scale dragon things doing circled about the upper floating mountains off and on. That would add cool dynamic depth.

The elevation matched with the sounds and waterfalls at ground level would mask the drone noise.

I think they're not allowed to fly them over people with current FAA requirements. So that makes most of the "floating" arch unuseable for such a show. The other background mountains it'd be in scale to dangle a cat toy on a stick periodically for the same effect ;)

But the FAA allows unlicensed guests to pilot flying dragons......something fishy here o_O

But you make a good point.

CM impressions of the rides are positive so far, but obviously should be taken with a grain of salt.

It's on the app map now. Credit where it's due: the layout of the land is really smart. Everything is spaced out pretty far. And there is a loop built in so no back tracking through dead ends.

I don't really want to give a full review. Not really any spoilers below. Just an overall impression.

The land is pretty, but it's all rocks, trees and water falls.

Honestly there's not much to do there. The two rides, a gift shop, and the canteen. It's all located along the far wall close together. Everything else is walking paths. I was expecting cool details and surprises that we didn't know about while walking around but there's not really anything there. Most of the land is unused space with pretty trees and rocks.

The river journey is really detailed. It's mostly projections with 1 AA that is incredible. The ride is really really short. The people that wait 2 hours to ride it are going to be MAD. There are only 4-5 rooms in it but the boat moves slow so you think it's longer.

All of the money in the land was spent on the Flight of Passage standby queue. It seems like a mile long and it's room after room of amazing detail. If you go in the Fastpass line you don't see any of it. FOP was cool. It was NOT ground breaking but an evolutionary step forward from Soarin'.
The gift shop was a gift shop, the canteen looked like something in Animal Kingdom lodge. Food was above average.

That's the entire land. You can see where all of the ground is painted with glow in the dark paint for the night time.

My big complaint is you could see the light fixtures on the ground and mounted on rocks and trees for the night time light up stuff. They don't try to hid any of it at all. Even inside the queues and rides I kept noticing led light strips everywhere. Maybe I'm just being over critical but that stood out to me.

All in all the land is an A+ but a lot of it is wasted space with nothing to do.

^ And that's kinda what I expected and/or feared. There's a double edged sword to my opinion on the land - this IP didn't deserve a Potter level land in my opinion, and based on this review it didn't get one. But Disney had been selling it as immersive so it honestly comes off as a bad job with that sort of review.

Still, reserving judgement till I see it. Much of what I have seen looks very cool, but I feel uncertain about how it will feel in person.

Thanks for your report, Darkridelover. I have to say your comments on how there's nothing to do in the land are quite intruiging considering I recall seeing a tweet which relayed Joe Rohde saying if people are going into the land just for the rides they're quote "wasting their time". Which sounds like he's still running with the mindset when DAK first opened of taking things slow/exploring...which didn't work whatsoever with the GP as they went straight for all the rides and complained they needed more of them.
