I dunno about that, carrying around a wand is annoying let alone this.

Not if you have proper robes with a wand pocket.

No, not available in the app for me. I just assumed we'd get paper ones when we check in like cast members have been getting some days.

I've been tagged for a later resort-wide cast preview day for River Journey. Which makes me think maybe I lost the lottery for Flight of Passage during that preview.

Even only allowing a few thousand people in for the previews an even smaller number were allowed to ride FOP.

Standby was not allowed to ride - just tour the queue.

I was very much hoping that wouldn't be the case going forward - but then you never needed a FP for River Journey during those limited previews. So maybe it is to just help them test the FP ratios.

So fair warning, if they run them like AK cast previews you need to arrive before your time slot to get in line for FP for FOP. No FP no ride.

CMs were leaving angry they didn't get to ride with a scheduled preview, I can't imagine it going over well with guests.

I can't decide which is stressing me out more - how unfinished Volcano Bay looks with pieces missing, or knowing FOP only has one theater that reportedly only works for a few cycles before breaking down.

When we entered the area we were immediately asked if we wanted Fast Passes for FoP and we were only 50 or so back and received 10:00-10:15. We ere let in the Fast Pass queue at 10:01, didn't ride until 10:30. It seemed like the amount of folks given fast passes was equivalent to one theatre full. Was told that the amount of fast passes being given to ride is <500.

Stand-by queue was open to tour at our leisure which was incredibly nice.

A theater has 3 levels and 2 compartments on each level with 8 seats in each compartment. That's 48 per ride.

So less than 500 points to a likely 480 which is just 10 ride cycles in that two hour block. That's 5 cycles per hour. That's barely 1000 guests an hour even with 4 theaters if they can't speed up the load process.

So is FoP not finished, or are the remaining theaters just having technical issues?

Don't know - but looking at my time stamps I took a photo as we entered the 2nd preshow at 5 after and by 18 after I'm standing at the bottom of the unload ramp.

So around 6 minutes to cycle and such plus a minute or so walking out.

I'm still mentally trying to figure out where people went after going through various doors...

C is definitely the main theater they have been using. It shows up in the blogger previews.

The group before mine went into A though, so maybe 2 theaters are working, just not reliably.

The lower ramp goes to doors A1 B1 C1 and D1. The lowest level for all the theaters.

Upper ramp has A3 A2, B3 B2, C3 C2, and D3 D2.

The 2's walk right into the preshow, the 3's hoof it up stairs to the third floor.

Those banshee toys discussed before are super neat and unique, but I think their most outlandish feature is the texture of their skin. It feels like... skin. I don't know how to compare them to anything else except for a really convincing sex toy's skin texture lol.

If all theatres are working, at 6 minutes it should be about 1920 people an hour. Barring any sort of time delays.

This is exactly why I never go to an attraction the opening month. Besides the insane crowds, all the bugs and shutdowns make it not worth it.

The flip side of that is there may be cool things that are too costly or difficult to maintain given up on and never seen again.

Exactly. You also won't get to see the original intent in action from an operational standpoint either. Over the years I'm sure you've come across an architectural item or something and wondered why they made it that way. Often during the opening days they run things by the book as intended. Later they stop using things that confused guests, caused backups, etc...

I would say the one exception to this is Diagon Alley which never used many other of the doors their shops have - and still don't - to limit access in and out of the small spaces. Quality Quiddich is the best example. One door is always blocked with a display or sales rack. But the on the flip side, if you went early you got to see the store queues in use, the Owlry, and the original Shutterbuttons.

I'm still kicking myself for not visiting Hard Rock park the year it opened.

Small technical issues that pop up when you start running an attraction for extended blocks of time... normal growing pains :-)
