Yes, I do, to an extent. The entire theater seating area will be mounted to a massive stewart platform base, that will tilt in reaction to movements on the screen. What I have yet to find out is how severe the tilt will be. I can only hope that it might be 70°-80° so that it will pass thrill muster.

Ohhh!

Why is everyone calling this Soarin', then? It's much more akin to a traditional stimulator.

I always thought the Soarin stuff came because the film was guessed to be like Soarin...instead you are flying over New York instead of California.

Because many of us were expecting something more like soarin as we knew it was a flight simulator something. I was expecting a vekoma type system. So even though I finally found out what the real ride system is, I believe the moniker of Soarin has just permanently stuck.

Soarin' to me implies a gentle flying attraction over landscapes vs. something like BTTF which was bumpy, simulated high speeds, sharp turns, etc.

Anyway, I think the good part of this is if the ride system is good quality, it can be re-used for other things if the Fallon attraction has a short shelf-life

My biggest worry is that we already have two basic simulators at USF... and while Simpsons and Minions are both fun, anything more would be a bit too much. Especially if it's this weird Fallon crap. At least Fallon' over New York would be a relaxing experience, which Universal needs more of.

You Are right, Universal should be more like Disney. I have a great idea! They should clear the building and make it a relax area where you can charge your mobile phone and sit in airconditioning. They have them now in Epcot and DHS so if a "world class theme park resort" is doing it it must be good enough for Universal. Maybe they can gut the Simpsons ride and show previews of their movies. With 15 minutes of preview the movie will be spoiled enough I guess.

Where the hell does this response even come from from that quote? I think the poster has a very valid point, USF specifically is very simulator/screens/3D heavy.

Really? I didn't even say they should be more like Disney, I'm just saying Universal needs a few more "slow" rides that aren't rollercoasters or motion simulators. It's not related to Disney, it's related to the fact that if you can't ride thrill rides, there's not much to do at USF. Also the fact that there's not much to do if you want to take a break from rides that simply throw you around at USF. A floating theater thing like Soarin' could help. Nintendo property based dark rides could help. Another normal simulator would not.

Kong will be a slow look-around-and-wonder ride. Sure, there are screens involved, but the ride is hardly all screens. It will be visually stunning inside and out.

Yeah, I'd like for Universal to do more attractions on the order of what we are expecting Kong to be. That will help to balance the parks. That's one reason I enjoy ET so much. It takes it's time to entertain & amaze.

This has no relation to anything brought up by the quote you used, and the post is somewhat aggressive. Calm down dude.

See, this is the kind of stuff we need. Kong sounds so amazing. More attractions like this (except maybe with Nintendo properties to make it less "scary" and intense for families) in both parks would be great.

Is it weird that if I prefer to have the NBC Media Center in here instead and just get the fancy NYC facade themeing?

Totally agree...while I love thrill rides, many people can't do those. My mom used to ride everything at universal, but just recently had some serious heart issues and can now only ride slower things. It made me realize just how little I can do with her in the parks now. Some more slower moving rides could really open up the audiences visiting the parks.

I totally agree with the notion that we need more slow set piece rides, like ET. I hope it never leaves.

Whaat? There is 12 rides at Epcot: Spaceship Earth, Journey Into Imagination With Figment, Soarin', Living With The Land, The Seas With Nemo and Friends, Mission: Space, Test Track, Ellen's Energy Adventure, Grand Fiesta Tour, and Sum of all Thrills(?).
Plus, 9 shows including Captain EO, Circle of Life, Turtle Talk, American Adventure, O Canada!, Reflections of China, Impressions de France, and Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. So, 21 attractions total.

Universal Studios alone has 11 rides: Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit, Transformers: The Ride, Revenge of the Mummy, Disaster, Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, Men in Black: Alien Attack, The Simpsons Ride, Kang & Kodos, E.T. Adventure, Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster, and Hogwarts Express.
Plus, Shrek 4-D, Beetlejuice, Terminator 2-3D, Universal's Horror Make-up Show, and some seasonal things like Barney and FFL make for 6 shows. IoA has 16 rides with Hulk, Spiderman, Storm Force Acceleration, Doctor Doom, Dudley Do-Right, Popeye, Jurassic Park River Adventure, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Flight of the Hippogriff, Dueling Dragons (which is TWO rides in one), Cat in the Hat, High in the Sky Trolley, Caro-seuss-el, and One Fish Two Fish. Plus, the two LC shows and the Seuss show. So, 36 attractions total.

Some Epcot attractions use screens, yes, but only rides like Soarin', Mission: Space and Test Track (and soon to be Frozen Ever After) are what i'd consider "Screen reliant". DM, TF, Gringotts, Hogwarts Express, Simpsons, Shrek/T2 (by their very nature) and soon to be Fallon and F&F are all the types of attractions i'm talking about.
