Perhaps Shrek 5 will help resurrect the franchise? The first few movies, including the Puss In Boots spin-off, were as popular as hell. I know I'm in the minority, but I actually like Shrek 4-D. That settles it then: turn KidsZone into Shrekland! Half of it can be forest-themed with Shrek's swamp. The other half can be Far, Far Away, full of restaurants, shops, etc.

Shrek is still alive! With this not going anywhere anytime soon I think it's safe to say kidszone is dead on for the next make over.

I actually wouldn't mind Shrek all things considered, *if* the rides were worthwhile. A proper dark ride using the Castle/Shrek Hut setup from Singapore would be nice.

I think he does have enough lasting appeal, the attraction they currently have is subpar at best however.

Then maybe they can knock down the building he is currently in and make a proper Super Silly Funland that everyone seems to be clamouring for. It might even allow HRRR to hold some semblance of thematic sense and give me the front of house makeover that I really want more than anything else.

^I like this idea. It pleases everyone who hates Shrek 4-D, and gives everyone their much-coveted Super Silly Funland. Speaking of which, I don't see what the big deal is with Super Silly Funland anyway. The place only had a small segment in the first movie, and was not even mentioned in the second. I know DM is popular, but I don't see a need to expand it further.

Agree about expanding DM. I rather have something new instead of more of something we already have.

The Shrek land won't happen. We've already been told to rule out Dreamworks and the relationship between Universal and Dreamworks has gone to hell. Singapore is the only Universal park you can actually expect any sort of Dreamworks additions.

Btw, I have no issues with Shrek as an IP. The original movie was a favorite of mine, but the attraction is just so outdated and is surrounded by better versions of the same thing all around it. (DM, T2:3D, Transformers) But it serves its purpose for Universal as a people eater and I'm sure Universal loves having Shrek in the park as a recognizable and relatable character for kids. So unfortunately, I'm expecting Shrek 4-D to stay in the park for a while longer. But it being expanded upon is just not going to happen.

The studio feeling of USF is all but gone. Other than the very front of the park, everything has turned away from that look. It honestly is better for Universal to just completely abandon it at this point and accept that the future of their theme parks doesn't involve the whole working studio thing (except for USH obviously). Big characters and exciting rides with themed areas, merchandise and food/beverages is the future of Universal. Tearing down an ugly building that is supposed to look like a sound stage but is just covered with Shrek stuff and houses a below average attraction won't hurt the image at all.

I say they embrace the famous urban landscapes look that they have been going for recently..maybe even continue the Hollywood theming at the front of the park

Don't forget that USF is STILL a working studio, with Impact, La Voz, and various other productions going on with some regularity.

Yeah, but is any of that a real attraction of the park? The whole working studio thing isn't a draw here anymore and Universal knows it which is why the theming has changed so much over the years.

The Studios look is in Production Central, next to the actual soundstages. New York, Hollywood, and San Fran. have also been there since open and London is going where Amity use to be. So it is just Springfield that took a part of the World Expo area and changed it to a city theme.

I would love to see Spongebob replace the whole thing!! He's a timeless character to me. I'm in my 20s and I remember the day the show premiered! Going on 15 years strong. Its iconic at this point, I think it would do super well as a land or dark ride. Krusty Krab would be the restaurant, Chum Bucket could be bathrooms (lol), Mrs. Puff's driving school could be a great ride for kids! Plus an excuse to have a 'tour' of bikini bottom to see the iconic locations. Sandy Cheeks dome could be a huge indoor playground! Wow that was fun to dream... Back to reality.

My Little Pony too, the huge fanbase they have now with 'Bronies' is literally incredible. I actually can't believe it. They have huge conventions for Bronies and all fans alike. I don't know much about the show but I know the characters.

OMG... why isn't there a Mario Land?? Love the idea of Mario Cart ride. The music, the sounds, the theming, incredible potential and amazing recognizablility. Nintendo must have the rights to that STRICTLY guarded.

There's another Spongebob movie coming out soon, so Bikini Bottom would make sense.

Ush super silly fun land sounds awesome. Space killers is one of the boardwalk game! I hope universal and dream works patch it up shrek is still pretty popular. A shrek 5 that makes people forget about the tragedy that was 4 could not only resurrect the shrek franchise, but dream works animation in general. Shrek is ok for the first few times but you get sick of it pretty fast . Still hoping for both companies to psych it up. Shrek version of the mine coaster would be cool.

I liked Shrek 4. I didn't like Shrek 3.

That being said, it doesn't matter...Dreamworks and anything Nick related isn't going in that plot.

It's been awhile since I've been on the forums and I haven't read much until now. But there was a property that nobody mentioned and that's Charlie Brown: http://screenrant.com/peanuts-2015-trailer-images/

I am fairly certain that Cedar Fair owns the theme park rights to anything Peanuts related.
