The first Spider-Man movie in 2001 and all of its sequels have been PG-13. While Nuthouse Coaster may have a low requirement, it's still a roller coaster at the end of the day. As to Pirates, you can't rate a ride; the movie drew elements from the ride and was given a PG-13 rating; heck, a major scene in the ride involves prostitution! The point is, you can do a ride for families without being strictly "kid-friendly".

The 60s comics and most of the cartoon shows are pretty clean-cut. Granted, the modern films and comics are PG-13 all the way. I do agree that it doesn't have to be kid-friendly. But any worthwhile Godzilla or F&F ride would have to have a decent height requirement between 40"-54"(F&F would have to be faster than Test Track to be realistic while Godzilla would need to fully immerse you into a attack on Japan). Neither of which would be family friendly if you're including Nuthouse Coaster

Honestly, I think that if they continue the Minion momentum they have now with another successful movie, it won't matter if KidZone is on the opposite side of the park from Minion Mayhem. I could see them building a full scale "Super Silly Fun Land" out of what's there now with some easy retheming. Who knows, maybe they move Minion Mayhem as well. There's no reason why they couldn't. They're building it from scratch in Hollywood and Singapore, why not build a new one in Orlando with better capacity and theme elements?

You do realize how many teenagers love Pokemon right? It's like the Star Wars of video games... 5 year olds and 25 year olds both find something to love. And Hello Kitty is HUGE with teenage girls. So both are technically family properties

For the record, Godzilla and Fast and Furious aren't family-friendly. PG is what I consider family, PG-13 is thrill rides usually

No replacing MIB - that should join with Fear Factor into a Syfy City (maybe Doctor Who to bridge the gap between London and sci-fi?)

The MIB/Springfield expansion plot is enough room for a 3 ride Tokyo land

Yeah, I dont believe pokemon is what they would want in their parks, Dr. Who would be a terrible IP IMO. and your last two points wouldnt make sense if you were to say "No replacing MIB and turn it into a SCYFY city" and "yes replace MIB/SF plot for a 3 ride tokyo expansion".

I would say 2 etickets (Test track like ride for fast and the furious and a godzilla indoor ride) and then a family friendly ride of some sort, maybe using pokemon

Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Spider-Man each started as PG properties so they don't count as non-family IMO

Nuthouse Coaster is 36" so that doesn't count as "intense" while POTC started as a PG family ride (movies came 35 years later)

I will give you MIB, Dudley Do-Right, Transformers, X-Men and the Simpsons though.. but Godzilla (might be too freaky since it's a giant lizard) and Fast and Furious (the gang pulls off heists/drugs and sex are involved) are not what I'd call family-friendly. The others you listed all have fantastical/light-hearted elements that make them accessible to kids

Is test track considered family friendly? Why cant they make a ride to compete against that? I think that would be great. plus liek i said before, a FFB for tokyo which has asian cuisine... Boom you just made yourself competitive with epcot if you have a yearly food festival from london going to springfield

This concept was never for Kidzone, would be better over at MIB plot. in that area you can at least reuse MIB for godzilla or Test Track

This whole thread is annoying to me. No one has any concrete evidence that kidzone has anything planned yet at all. It seems like Universal Creative knows this area needs a revamp but has done nothing but maybe some early concepts for the area. Where's the inside information? No one knows anything about what's going on here because my guess is Universal doesn't know what they're gonna do here yet either. So sitting around and arguing over which IP should be used or what name the restaurant should have is really just a waste of time. Does anyone have real info??? LOL

What do you think about this: At the corner of Studio Drive and 5th avenue there is a lovely plot of land that's a parking lot right now. It's at the same height of the Mummy building but of course in the (real) studio part. Vehicle looking like elevators wil travel in a fun slow fashion (with fun floor and sealing effects) between the back of the Dispicable Me store to that new 2 story studio building that is an inside play area with small rides resembling the inside of Mermaid Lagoon at Disney Sea but now it's the underground layer of Gru where small rides and play areas like slides and stuff fill the highly teamed building.

The kidszone could be scrapped together with the animal actor stage and the whole of Terminator and the horror and make-up show. The entrance of the Horror and make-up show will be the entrance for ET (just won't like to see that one go). The whole are (including the show and T2-3D ride) can be transformed into a new land. The new land should (like the Simpsons) add 1 or 2 kiddy rides).

I could see KidZone's revamp being drawn out like New Fantasyland... maybe 2 years instead of 3.5 though :P

Really it seems Universal is pulling a TDO since they haven't concretely decided what's going to happen after Diagon

Sure, we've heard about JP, Kong, Lorax, and KidZone... but is there any evidence Comcast is going to build them? Same for the rumored enhancements for Toon Lagoon and Lost Continent, and the project for MIB/Springfield

Honestly, I'm hoping we get construction walls in January for JP/Kong and plans start to surface for KidZone because obviously, USO can't afford to stagnate

Alvin and the Chipmunks could do good, but I believe Rio can't be used because it'll be in Fox's park.

How about this; "Mattel's World of Toys"

There could be a Hot Wheels coaster, Matchbox Freeway, Barbie's Dreamworld dark ride, and a Max Steel shooter ride. And of course a huge Mattel store.

I could see: Hasbro's World of Toys -
G.I. Joe E-ticket
Candy Land play area
Battleship stunt show
My Little Pony Fantasyland-style dark ride
Matchbox Freeway (more thrilling version of Autopia)
Elefun flat ride (unique chairswings ride)

That is a great call. Tons of opportunities since Mattel sells so many items.

It would be a great idea but I believe Disney has a licensing agreement with them for all the stuff they use in the Toy Story attractions.
