I honestly think we get a big info drop this summer. Announce the Potter coaster, MoM, and the new park, all at the same time. It'll be like Uni.'s version of a D23.

They're building a park in Beijing as we speak. They have plenty of things to pull from for Park 3.

But there's also a lot of new stuff. Nintendo included, as well as the possibilities of LOTR, Zelda, Pokemon, I don't remember if Dreamworks was included in the Beijing concept art, Star Trek, etc.

Nintendo's already been designed though. And there's no saying they don't just take a Beijing ride and redress it with a new theme to fit one of those properties.

Either way, it won't be a grand challenge to put together a great Park 3.

Do they though? I think most of the attractions will be a blend of already existing rides from the other parks with maybe 1 or 2 new ones thrown in.

I think park 3 is going to be mostly original but like you said above, it's not got to be a grand challenge to put together. If anything, they have too much choice.

I don't think Beijing will have many clones at all. But we'll see.

I wonder if there are any potential IP’s for the new park that we just haven’t though of yet. We’ve really circled around Nintendo, LOTR, Dreamworks, and maybe Jurassic World. I would love to see them drop something in there that we never saw coming. It’d be nice to think that these folks are still capable of containing a secret. I suppose we’ll see.

I'm assuming that a good chunk of those will be made specifically for the Chinese market that might not translate well to Orlando.

The parks in Beijing will be 2-2.5x as big.

Everything will be much bigger. If they just wanted to clone USF/IoA, they could build replicas of both combined for <$4 billion. The total approved budget for all phases is $15 billion so far, so you should expect it to end up like Disney Shanghai.

It's not like it's Universal's money, the Chinese banks are willing to lend unlimited amounts to finance the project and the Beijing City Govt wants the greatest parks... might as well go crazy.

Universal Beijing also has the Central Committee fully behind the project, in addition to the City Government. It's not just a financial project, it's also a propaganda item. It will end up more significant than Shanghai, even though it's in a colder locale.

Beijing is also opening in line with the Olympics with the Communist party backing it.
