If I remember correctly the H E works on the same principal as a ski lift one cable that loops around and while moving one train goes to the north station the other goes to the south station by way of sharing that cable. With that being said I don't believe it can be disconnected that easily. For installation purposes they would want to connect it to the cable in the bypass section of track. Forgive me if I am wrong but that is my understanding of the propulsion system.
