Love the Publix v Walmart analogy. It all comes down to training and upper management. There are great TMs at Universal, but overall they are far behind in all forms of operations outside attractions behind Disney.

100% agreed, just like there are some good Walmart employees and bad Publix employees. But it is the overall experience with the majority of the employees. And I agree it comes down to training and management. I don't think it is the fault of the individual employees and more the overall management fault.

Personal experiences vary, but I’ve found Uni employees equal to or superior to Disney employees for a decade or so and continue to do so. My recent experiences with WDW cast members have found them frequently overwhelmed and sometimes even irritable and dismissive. The real difference comes when working with guests services - I have found Uni vastly more accommodating in recent years, and it isn’t particularly close.

Would the recent frames that popped up over by the boats in the Isle of Berk happen to be for covered seating for the nearby restaurant?

I think an overall shift in park operations will change when a 3rd park is added, expecting guests to have longer stays on property. Also, isn’t there a noise ordinance issue at the current parks witn housing and schools directly next to the parks? Also, no current room for fireworks.

They have room at the new park for Fireworks, so being open until 10/11 is my guess for this park most of the year.

The location of the firework launch is perfect since the closest thing is the highway and then there's commercial areas after that I think, which usually aren't open at night anyway. I'm not sure if Universal could use the really loud fireworks? They had special fireworks that were less noisy used at USF for a while during their nighttime shows didn't they? I'm imagining we'd get a show similar to that with a lot more used.

On the topic of noise and the main fountain: I'm not sure how high the water will go into the air but if the show will be anything like the Bellagio the water spouts can be noisy.

(video should automatically start at :46)

It may be a little difficult at first—listen for what sounds like a helicopter (it's clear around 1:30). There are some moments where you can hear it over the music, and IIRC I think they try to time the sound with the music at certain points. The hotel and large show buildings around the fountain are a great sound barrier, whether it was intentionally designed that way or not.

Btw World of Color's fountains do the same thing. The noise is softened and with the music blaring you can't hear it during a show (I wouldn't be surprised if the noise was also timed with the music to hide it more). At the 2:24 mark in the video below during construction. It's soft but imagine dozens of those going off like they do during the actual show.

I'm excited to see what the fountain show will look like!

Looking at those frames, does this mean we'll have real windows as we walk through a castle? One thing I never liked was the fake windows going through Hogwarts trying to simulate natural lighting which never looked right.

It's an extra layer of awesome if we're actually able to look back out into the land waiting in line for the ride!

I've been wondering about this for a while. The Bellagio fountains are crazy loud in person. When I stayed there in 2019, I was on the 31st floor in the Spa Tower (Which is pushed back) with a fountain view and you could hear them. And they were going off every 15mins.
This is how it sounds from inside Lago:

At check in, there was somebody wanting to move room because of the noise and they were on the 15th floor. Helios only has 10 floors, 1 is the lobby and the other is rooftop bar and event space.

I'm not expecting this to be anywhere near as big as the Bellagio.

I'd be surprised if they had real windows looking out but it would be nice. I think there's going to be a fake skylight potentially for one of the preshows. If you look at Bio's photos of the roof, you can see a raised box section.

The Epcot central fountain had the same 120+ foot blasters that Bellagio has and the noise wasn’t really an issue, even when half the water ended up on the sidewalk. The fountains will definitely add noise but I don’t think it will reach annoying levels, especially if there’s just a night show and not like Bellagio blasting music and a show every 15 minutes for 12+ hours.

Agreed, I don't think noise will be an issue. Now if people are too close they may get wet. We got SOAKED at Sea World last time we watched their summer show.

Guess it will depends on how windy it gets. But since the fountain is surrounded on a few sides with tall buildings (Helios to the west, Paris buildings to the north, etc.) hopefully the wind won't be too bad.

The loudest the fountain would ever be is during a possible firework show. At that point, music, potential singing, and fireworks are going off around it to block the sound. Don’t think it’ll be an issue.

Alicia, truly OUTSTANDING work as always. I know Bio has the photos, but the music for each area, attention to details with permits, and overall able to put this project into words is truly remarkable. I appreciate your updates, as do many others!

Plus the Manor looks outstanding

I presume that themed gate within the Nintendo portal is
a. Themed the same across all the lands
b. Used to block entry during open hub or paid event hours

If you look closely, you can even see the warp pipe after the gate before the escalators in that image! So we technically do have a green warp pipe. It’s just after the portal arch and celestial theming.
