They could do a lot of good with a little investment in Tomorrowland.

A replacement for Stitch, upgrading the blasters on Buzz, and electrifying/TRON-ing the Speedway would cost less than Tiana’s makeover and tremendously improve the quality of the land. Toss in some PeopleMover scenes if you’re feeling extra.

Space could close for a substantial overhaul after that, and then Tomorrowland’s set for another few decades.

For anyone who's just as curious as I was, this is apparently the current state of the two theaters:
  • Left theater is (for the most part) fully intact. Currently being used as a break room, and supposedly this side's Stitch animatronic was saved and sent to the Archives.

  • The right theater on the other hand is apparently a whole different story. Pretty much completely abandoned, pitch black, huge intake, and skinned Stitch may or may not still be sitting in the middle.
The right side of the building sounds literally horrifying. I would crap my pants if I walked around in there with a flash light and saw the bare ones Stitch AA.

So what is this replacement rumored to be?

Zero word on what the replacement could be, although the implication seems to be it'll reuse the same theater format.

And, being one of the five people who loved the show, Little Mermaid getting a revival along with the Lilo & Stitch live-action coming soon, a part of me is very naively hoping it could be a revival of SGE.

How do those rights work? Does the BBC/Doctor Who have licenses with any other theme park chain, and if not would Disney be interested in making an attraction based off of an IP that they don't own? It feels like we're a long way past where we were when Star Tours, Twilight Zone, and Alien got added to the Disney Parks.

I had never thought of it, but wow, yeah. That AE circle theatre does look a whole lot like the post-Ninth Doctor Tardis, huh? I saw the Doctor Who ads for Disney+, but don't really know how strong the ties are there yet. Seeing an actual official replica on Disneyland Property is pretty bonkers.

I think this is the first Stitch replacement idea that I can actually picture working on any level. It's an IP with some solid brand name recognition, it fits the small weird space really well, there are a ton of silly or weird alien species to work with if you wanted to make an alien bad guy that isn't as scary as AE, and you kinda just have to have the existing Doctor record some footage to play on the screens "saving" the guests and the stolen Tardis. That's a bop.

From the look of it the phonebox is outside the park. If it's in use for another theme park company it needs to stay outside like the wraps around busses and monorails (not the one that goes trough Epcot).
