Reading this reaffirms what a great deal the recent AP/FL Resident deal $144/night for Portofino was.

New categories for the hotels:

"Prime Value"- Cabana Bay
"Preferred" - Royal Pacific, Sapphire Falls
"Premier" - Hard Rock, Portofino Bay

Not sure putting Sapphire and RPR in the same category is a great idea from a guest perspective considering the differing perks.

Also, you have to figure "Value" is on its way if Cabana is described as "Prime Value". Most likely since whatever the next value will be won't be "on property" so to speak

I agree. Makes me wonder if Royal Pacific will ever lose the Express Pass benefit.

I remember doing a Universal survey on prospective categories for universal hotels/amenities levels etc. in the past year. Those were some of the terms thrown out there. What happens to RP Express if Sapphire doesn't get it? Or did they change their mind for Sapphire Express? Is this final?

I think it'd be more likely that Sapphire gets express one day than RPR losing it

Yes, it is final. I would think they both would end up having the same perks, whether it is Royal Pacific losing it or Sapphire Falls getting it at some point, like JS said.

RPR definitely isn't losing it, unless the contracts between the two companies are renegotiated.

I can see why they put them in the same category, just know it'll cause confusion to the average guests as to why one gets Express and the other doesn't.

I really hope Sapphire Falls gets the Express. That's pretty much a must for me when staying at a Universal hotel. Hard Rock was always my go-to choice, but I'm really digging Sapphire so far. Hopefully it gains Express like RPR and then I'll definitely be staying there. Either way, RPR will either be losing Express or Sapphire is gaining it, there is no other way, it'll be too confusing otherwise.

Also, can someone refresh my memory on if Sapphire is getting a water taxi or not?

Or perhaps if they build another Premier resort, include the Express at that one and remove it from Royal Pacific?

I don't know where they'd put another Premier that would make sense.

Maybe Sapphire will just have much better amenities than Royal Pacific does?

Yea. Premier to me, at least in regards to Universal, means that it's in a great location in proximity to the parks.

Off the top of my head, RP offers Priority seating in restaurants, but SF has bigger rooms.
