I am with you. I have never seen the movie and have no desire to see it and I am really excited about this.

The movie was pretty good. Wondering how the sequels will be.

the movie gets way too much hate due to it's overwhelming success. It's not the most original "story", but the world and the ideas behind it were pretty solid. The special effects were incredible, and still hold up to most modern films released today. It also ushered in a new age of 3D cinema and TV. Now you may love or hate 3D, but there is no denying that the film had a bigger impact on theater culture then what critics give it credit for.

Absolutely. 3D is pretty much close to dead now though, right? Best Buy didn't even have any 3D TV's save for one when I was shopping for one a few months back.

Well a lot of TV's, especially newer more expensive models, come with 3D capability though they don't heavily advertise that feature. I'm sure there were far more 3D TV's in the store than even you realized.

I like AVATAR as an overall concept far more than the actual movie. The movie just isnt very good from a plot/storytelling perspective.

For Disney (and Universal for that sakes) people should look at future lands/attractions as a sandwich. Medium quality AttractionsLand w/ the "meat" in between.

2016 WDW openings are the bun to Avatars 2017 Meat!!!

As TSL will be the bun to SWL meat...phase three will be more meat than bun though

I don't really understand this argument. The story is a classic man vs wild fable. To say it didn't have a good plot, is basically also saying that a number of other classic stories do not have a good plot. It's formulaic, but it's not in any means "bad".

it didn't have an "original" plot, this is true, but the world, technology, creatures, language, basically everything else on screen is all very original and created from Cameron himself. There are true heroes and villains, and the pacing follows a logical and grand conclusion. there is nothing "wrong" with the storytelling. It's just not mind bending sci-fi, but to be honest most of the films that a lot of people lap up these days (comic book moves, cough, cough) follow the same type of genre story formula. I mean how many super hero origin stories are EXACTLY the same? A lot of them.

And to respond to snarky comment #2 .....yes 3D TVs did not take off the way that the electronic companies hoped, but there is still a market, and the impact on theaters is still very, very, present. Last I checked the majority of blockbusters and animated moives are still released in 3D on a weekly basis.

any other haters want to umm...hate?

The plot wasn't original and the story was just boring. I think a lot of push back also comes from some pretty blatant anti-American themes in the movie.

I'd say the story is more anti-war than anti-America, but people seem to get those things confused for some reason....

Thank You!! Remember that the way people perceive us or what happens to us through life, has to do with the way we make decisions in our life. It has nothing to do with anything or anyone around us.
