You understood what I meant didn't you. I find you annoying too. For some reason my phone autocorrects and puts those words together and I could care less about fixing it.

I take time out of my vacation to take pictures and upload them on here to have you try to be a smartass. Sorry my opinion and misspelling bothered you.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know how the size of the boat ride building compares to the size of Shanghai's Pirates? If we got a similar ride experience, I'd be thrilled.

I've read elsewhere the show building is about a third of the size of Shanghai Pirates. Doesn't have to mean the rides is a third the length, mind....

I just went to both resorts and I find Disneyworld more enjoyable than Universal. Disneyworld has this vibe that Universal will never have. I can't explain it. The employees seem happier at Disneyworld. Universal wants everything to be "thrilling" and fast paced which gets old and annoying.

I don't know if you're a local or not but my experience as a Brit who comes maybe once a year and has limited time when I'm there, I'm wanting to do something new and since my last visit in 2013, there's not a whole lot new bringing me in, add that on top of how expensive a 2 week ticket is plus the crowds.

If I was local and had an annual pass, I could spread it out and justify the cost.

If we really want to compare parks and resorts, I'd say that Disneyland is superior to Disney World. The main impression I got from visiting DL, is that DL is for the fans and WDW is for the tourists and they're trying to make as much money as possible.

I don't think it has to do with being a local or a tourist who comes every so many years. I know locals who like all parks equally, I know locals who like Disney more than Universal, and I know locals who like Universal slightly more. And when I say slightly I mean they still have annual passes for both Disney and Universal. I know one local who has Universal and not Disney annual passes, but I know a ton of locals who have Disney and not Universal. The one that has Universal just moved down here and wanted to try something new. Last time I talked to them they were not really into Universal. They made the comment a lot of people make that they have to put 3D glasses on too much. So they plan on trying Disney when their Universal passes expire. I also know locals who only have Sea World or have Sea World with other passes. So it seems to be all over the place with the people I personally know. Now there are a ton of locals on this board that only have Universal and not Disney, so obviously those type of people exist too. I really just think it depends on the type of family you are more than whether you are local or a tourist. The people who visit here that I know go to either Disney only or visit Disney and Universal. No one I know who has visited here only goes to Universal, but again there are a ton of people on this board that only go to Universal.

The age ranges and family situations of everyone I know are all over the place. But I think certain people just prefer certain things over other things. No one seems to complain about nothing new at Disney and equally as much no one talks about all the new stuff at Universal. The common thing between everyone is they just want to have a good time. And sometimes they are able to have more of a good time at Disney and other families have more of a good time at Universal. I don't think it makes either family more or less correct as it is all opinions. We all have them and we all have the right to have different ones.

One thing I noticed is when I talk up Universal I seem to be the odd one out. Many locals and tourist still look at Universal as the thrill only park that has less customer service as Disney and less theming. They feel more immersed and feel more special. Whatever that means. Even my own husband would happily go to Disney any time I say let's go to Disney where Universal I have to plan in advance and prepare him because he just doesn't like it as much. He also tends to be more grumpy there and point out the negatives more. So everyone is different. It is why I take my daughter by myself sometimes as I have a better experience without him. Of course my daughter wasn't feeling well and I felt like I was with my husband again, but I am pretty sure it was because her tummy was bothering her and all the rides made her tummy flip around.

Now I will say that Diagon Alley he really likes and he likes the food there. That was the other thing, my husband never could find yummy food at Universal. So I am hoping that with Diagon that I might talk him into going more often. We will see.

I'm a local who finds Universal to be superior to WDW in most ways...including customer service right now.

I do find Disneylsnd to be superior to both Universal and Walt Disney World in practically every catagory. The only thing WDW has is the blessing of size...way more hotels and more parks, but I find the two smaller resorts to be better.

Now back to Pandora...I think this land is going to be one amazing sight to see. I'm still curious to see the quality of the attractions though.

I can see the appeal of an AP for WDW, maybe even see more so than Universal truth be told but I think visiting once a year is a valid point. Generally I won't relax in the parks, it will be non stop from the moment I arrive to get as much in as possible and for that, I think Universal is better suited to that kind of experience but if I stayed locally, I think WDW would be a nicer place to spend a relaxing day.

As @Miketheboss said, I think Universal could get old pretty quick if I was to visit it much more often.

Avatar will raise the bar, then Nintendo will, then Star Wars will, then the third park....

That's why I think aiming for Diagon Alley is a bad goal.

I'm going to soap box for a bit since I'm drinking at the Outback in the MCO airport for a second. I do not like anyone using the term "-tard" in anyway. I have several friends who have special needs siblings who find using "retard" or "tard" as demeaning and pejorative. I get that a unitard is an actual thing, but the sly dog whistle blowing of using the term is "this person is stupid/idiot". In a similar but separate manner I'm not a fan of using a blanket term like "pixie duster" either as it simplifies discussions to a near black and white distinction. I think we can do better. (Yes I understand the term is not self applied, but the first step is to reject using any terms.)

I don't know if I would agree with you. I love both Disney and Universal but Uni has it's own vibe too.

As someone who also has a profound family history of special needs, on both the physical and cognitive levels, and also spent over a decade coaching Special Olympians, I'm as offended by the use of the term as the next person, but I would never try to stop either a person or society at large to stop using any word just because it offends me. That's just not how speech works in society.

I would rather a person who'd be the sort to use "retarded" - or "gay," or any other descriptor - as a pejorative, use it, and judge my continuing relationship with that person on as much information as possible. Just my two cents.

What an odd thing to reach on to try to cherry pick something negative from his post.....

You know, I love this site, and Universal very much, however the whole "if they like Disney more than Universal" or even mention something better, people get blasted on here for it. Really is lame, 98% of this forum is money, but that 2% is predictable and tiring.

Agreed. With mobile devices and auto-correct sometimes things happen, so nitpicking over a small thing is silly. I know many time I re-read a post and realize that my phone auto corrected to a word I did not mean at all. I prefer doing things on my PC for this reason, but when I am in the car and my husband is driving, this passes the time.

Now if someone was using poor English and misspelling a ton of words to the point where you couldn't understand their point, then I could see saying something. But in this case we all knew what he was saying.

Definitely agree that, as an occasional Brit visitor, I love to experience new things.

We visited for the first time after a long absence last summer and Universal felt fresh, vibrant and exciting whereas Disney hadn't changed sufficiently in over a decade. Everest was great, but Animal Kingdom still nowhere near as built up as it should be by now. Epcot had somehow got worse and the Studios were stale. New Fantasyland very welcome as it felt dated last visit, yet the worlds most visited theme park still had a relic like Tomorrowland Speedway looking all out of place.

At Universal I felt like they'd achieved things I couldn't imagine whereas at Disney I spent my time largely imagining how they could improve things. Pandora looks like a much needed step in the right direction, but they're playing catch up in terms of innovation where it matters in their Florida parks.

Breaking WDW down to what's new, there is very little reason to return in my next trip, especially when tickets are £310 but tickets now come with memory maker and I don't know how long it will be before I return plus if I don't go, it will leave a large void of empty days.

Me and wife are planning to drink around the world at EPCOT which we've never done before so I'm really looking forward to that.

I'm still not sure this project will make me want to set foot in Animal Kingdom unless it's under 82 degrees for the high.

It is the nastiest hot park in summer. It's a wonder people don't exit with malaria at the end of the day.
