I want whatever replaces Gwazi to have a less than 54" height requirement, since I'm sure a good chunk of kids can ride Gwazi but not some of the larger coasters.

Kids are also the only ones durable and flexible enough to survive the ride without short term disability either

I really hope Gwazi doesn't go the way of the dodo. It's one of my favorite BGT coasters, tbh.

Unless they retrack it it won't be there long IMO. It doesn't duel anymore and they only run one train (seems like)98% of the time, and the sad thing is the ride was a lot of fun years ago, now I ride once a year to remind myself why I don't ride it more.

Bad news for Gwazi:

General Park News - (4/8/13) While Busch Gardens has still not been willing to make any comments or answer my questions about the future of Gwazi in the park, one reader claims to have seen what appeared to them to be one of Gwazi’s inactive trains taken apart and the cars mounted to wooden platforms and set alongside one of the park’s backroads, as if they were being shipped out somewhere.
There is an interesting rumor claiming that if Gwazi’s was shut down at some point in the future, the trains (which are only a couple of years old) would be shipped to Busch Gardens Williamsburg. This would be a very intriguing move since that park has no wooden coaster at all, but has long been rumored to be interested in building one on the former site of Drachen Fire, possibly as part of a whole new land themed to Spain, or part of an expansion of the existing German themed Oktoberfest area. For more on what the future of BGW may hold… make the jump over to that page.
As for the future of Gwazi, a reader took the early morning Roller Coaster Experience tour at the park not long ago and during the Gwazi portion of the tour, did ask a few questions about the future of the ride. According to the mechanic who talked to the group at that portion of the tour, the Tiger side is closed permanently. They also told the group that the coaster was expected to be removed in the next year or two to make way for a new “Speed Coaster” that would open in 2015 or 2016.

I do like the prospect of a speed coaster headed to BGT though. I would sacrifice Gwazi for one of those

^^Agreed. As much as I love spending 3 minutes in pure agony, I'd like to see something FAST come our way

More Intamin please. And what defines a "speed" coaster?

No my question is if BGT does get a speed coaster what type of coaster will it be like? We talking about something like Raging Bull or something like Skyrush?

I believe he is meaning something faster than that. Cheetah really is no faster than Montu and Kumba. Hyper coaster type speed is most likely way he is meaning and what I would hope for

Shiekra really is the closest thing to a hyper that Florida has but I wouldn't really consider that in the same category

If it's an Intamin "speed" coaster, I'm hoping for something tall and fast. I wouldn't mind seeing a Millennium Force clone at BGT. Anything similar to Cheetah Hunt(which is a fun ride for it's own sake), would be a disappointment. Quite frankly I'd much rather see a WingRider instead. Busch parks do have a great history with B&M, so here's to hoping!

That would be awesome! Id love to see anything along that line or even a B&M like Nitro or Apollo would be more than welcome with open arms

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE me my coasters, and I'll be ecstatic if they build another awesome coaster... but I'd prefer if they go with a coaster / dark-ride hybrid next. BGT is severely lacking in A/C attractions (namely rides) to escape the FL heat

I cant argue that point  A nice dar ride would make for a nice fit there. Wonder if they may capitalize on the same tech they are using for Antartica

If I remember my coaster history correctly, "speed coaster" was B&M's name for their early hyper coaster line. I would certainly take a mechanic's off-hand comment with a grain of salt, but this is a positive sign for the crowd that wants a traditional hyper in the park.

That said, gwazi's location reallydoesnt scream "out and back layout" to me. Given that the gwazi park field is off limits, any hyper that goes into the Gwazi footprint would have to look more like Raging Bull than Apollo's Chariot.

Whatever they do, I hope they make fixing or replacing Gwazi their next priority. Not only is it an eyesore, but in this current state it's a total waste of "front gate statement" potential.

An Apollo type ride (would love to see it here) would probably only work in the back of the park.
I would like to see them do a good dark ride, just no sim.

If there is one thing Busch does better than anyone else its coaster placement. Not only with statements from the gate and mid way but also the physical placement of there coasters. Shiekra is the best example there is so don't count the mastermind Mark Rose out of dropping any kind of coaster anywhere within the park.

Also yes when Apollo and Raging Bull premiered in 1999, B&M labeled the new breed speed coasters. They wanted to seperate themselves from the pack of other "hyper" coaster builders at the time by pushing the trains open carriage and clamshell harnesses.

Ill tell you what, the first time I rode Nitro I was nervous as hell with only having that little clamshell holding me in

When I rode Diamond Back it was my first coaster without a shoulder restraint, needless to say, I felt really vulnerable!
