No surprise at all. Ahsoka is probably one of the most beloved Star Wars characters, and as soon as she was confirmed to be in The Mandalorian it was only a matter of time.

I have to think this is the next logical step for Bo-Katan. Possibly to have a prominent role and the two of them (maybe Sabine?) would set out to find Ezra and battle Thrawn? And since it's set during the time of The Mandolorian, Mando himself may be a part of this series at some point.

Star Wars Rebels Sequel Reportedly Scrapped In Favor Of Rosario Dawson's Ahsoka Show

The once-animated sequel to Star Wars Rebels will now be replaced by the live-action Ahsoka series.

In an interesting note, Ahsoka will be using the planned storyline that was in place, for the continuation of Rebels (As that has now been canceled due to Mando's success).

Rumor has it Mena Massoud (Aladdin, Jack Ryan, Reprisal) is in talks to play Ezra Bridger:

So based on a post that Rosario Dawson posted to Instagram, she seems to confirm the Mena Massoud will be playing Ezra and Lars Mikkelson will be portraying Thrawn. It's still not confirmed by LucasFilm of course, but with her actually being Ahsoka, she's the closest thing there is to go by right now.
