They should not include the parking fee in the cost of the room. Sometimes we drive down and sometimes we fly down. Its nice when we fly down to not have the $15 dollar daily fee. We also always eat breakfast at the Contemporary Hotel when we go to the magic kingdom. You save the parking fee and if you want to after you leave the park you can walk to your car. That in itself is worth the price of breakfast! I have to admit we have also made breakfast reservations and not actually gone, boo I know. But most of time we do go though, plus they have started to crack down on that.

And that right there is why Universal charges for parking.

Your right, they do it so people wont park in the hotel parking lots. Has nothing to do with the additional revenue.

I can't see how anyone thinks they are charging the people staying at the hotel parking fees for any reason than additional revenue. I get that they don't want people parking at the hotels who aren't staying there. But if you are staying there, and they charge you a parking fee, its to make more money off of you. This happens at hotels across the country and is not an Orlando or Theme Park idea.

But WDW system is so broken. If you say you are eating at th restaurant they still let you in with no problem. I think Uni has it right, don't increase the price of the room for everyone, only charge those using it and it prevents abuse of the system. Which abuse happens at WDW so much, which causes their parking lots to get so crowded if you are there for a real reason you can't find a parking spot.

They do have a list of names with dinner reservations, and you can only park there if you really are eating there. But I dont know where else people would be expected to park if they had reservations at California Grill...Ive never had issues with parking at any of the monorail hotels. Even if Im picking my daughters up from the pool or whatever, the guards are pretty strict, taking your ID, license plate number, etc before letting you in. And thats at any Disney hotel, not just the super expensive ones.

Nope. Several times last month we parked at AKL, the Poly and the Contemp just by saying dining and flashing ID. Surprised me I have to say.

Depends when you go. Contemporary was a no-go by just saying dining during a Christmas party.

Yeah I based my statement off of experience...interesting that you had a different experience, but this is absolutely what has happened 100% of the time I dine at a Disney hotel. To be clear, I havent gone to every single one for dinner...mostly just the Contemporary and Grand Floridian, occasionally the Polynesian, and AKL. Other places take license plate numbers and ID info down if you are just picking someone up...again, from my own experiences. No "yep" or "nope" about it.

I'm still trying to figure out what to do if I want to stay at Cabana Bay but don't want to miss out on Express. Should I also book one night at RPR so I can have Express for two days and let the room go empty?

My thinking is that I would want to stay here during HHN when I would probably be in the studios mainly at night when the hotel express would not be valid.

I didn't know Cabana bay was supposed to be sixteen stories. What happened? Why did they scale down?

16? Where did you hear that? I can't imagine that would do much good for sightlines on the south side of IoA...

I agree... this ain't Singapore or Epcot. I believe 4,5 or 6 is the most.

I read in this thread of the earlier plans consisting of Hotel Site E 16 stories. Which is where Cabana Bay sits now. So from this photo
HotelSiteE.jpg

I assumed Cabana Bay was supposed to be taller? :stunned:
Which I see why they wouldn't I was just curious if Hotel Site E was ever concrete or blue sky.
