That would put it tied with ETERNALS (also at 47%) as the second-lowest RT for the MCU. Only QUANTUMANIA has a worse one.

It's now officially tied with Quantumania for the lowest-scored Marvel movie at 46% after 80 reviews. Massive round of applause for Marvel. They truly deserve it.

Not sure if a "/s" was needed but I was very much so kidding. 48% is atrocious. The movie that looked like a mess for a long, significant span of time is unfortunately, but unsurprisingly, looking to be the mess we expected.

I haven't really cared much about the MCU overall post Endgame. The MCU movies I WAS excited for were for reasons other than the overall MCU saga (Tobey in No Way Home, Blade and Wolverine in Deadpool 3). I only watched 2 Disney+ shows (Wandavision and Falcon/Winter Soldier). The only 2 movies I was really looking forward to where Blade (LOL), and this new Captain America, so its been pretty upsetting to read about the disaster that was this movie's production and the amount of people actively rooting for it to fail.

FWIW, at least on my behalf, my "rooting" is simply out of exhaustion towards what the Marvel creative process has become. The rewrites/reshoots to appease test audiences rather than sticking to their guns. The hiring smaller name directors/writers to seemingly control what they make rather than getting more established creatives who may push back to defend their creative vision. The overworking their CGI artists and still rushing out a product that looks half-baked. Things like that.

I actually like Anthony Mackie as Cap. I love the desire to return to "political thriller" Captain America ala Winter Soldier. I want this to be good. But they make it so clear that it's not going to happen time and time again post-Endgame. Quotes from reviews such as this one from The Wrap are my exact issue:

I’ll be watching this on Sunday, but the only reason I actually bought a ticket is because of the free Marvel Rivals skin I’ll be getting for going to see it at a Regal on opening weekend, same as all the friends i’m going with. Even before the reviews started to come in, we all agreed that this movie is probably not gonna be great unfortunately.
