So, I think I might take a crack at writing up my own idea for a Halloween Horror Nights event. First, though, I had an idea for a new Icon character and I thought I'd see what folks thought of them, as I start developing this idea.

Icon: The Mentalist

Rising from the dust of a traveling carnival to the footlights of the vaudeville stage, Abner Forsythe has made a name for himself as a master of mentalism. His uncanny brilliance shines in his mental tricks, placing people into trances and unveiling the thoughts lurking within their heads. However, Abner’s skill derives from his own wicked interest: he seeks the darkness lurking within your mind. He yearns for the nightmares you have kept locked away in the darkest corners of your imagination, eager to find what frightens you and bring it to life before your very eyes. There is nowhere to run, no way to escape once Abner has taken the stage.

After all, it's all in your head...or is it?

Alright, so here is my take on a Halloween Horror Nights event.

Halloween Horror Nights
Slogan: "The Fear is All in Your Head"

Houses:
Blackout Prison: Ride the Lightning

Blackout Prison had stood as a monument to cruel justice, thanks to the number of inmates shoved towards their unjust end at the hands of Ol’ Sparky. Now, as a storm rages and a power surge leaves the prison in darkness, the spirits of those condemned have returned and are eager to make you “ride the lightning”.

Creepshow
Inspired by the cult classic film, step into the pages of a twisted comic book packed with five jolting tales of suspense and terror. From an undead dad back for his cake to a horde of cockroaches creeping up on you, it’s the most fun you’ll have being scared!

Fear Street
Ever since the execution of Sarah Fier on suspicions of witchcraft, the town of Shadyside has been haunted by a legacy of murderers cutting up the town. Enter the world of the Netflix horror trilogy, as these killers from the past arise to make you just another footnote in the town’s bloody history.

Hellraiser
With just a few moves of the puzzle box, you will enter a world without limits. Angels to some, demons to others, the Cenobites are beyond such human concepts of “pleasure” or “pain”. Be warned: if you betray them and try to escape, they will tear your soul apart.

Mental Assault: All in Your Head
Step up onto the stage, as the Mentalist is ready to bring you on a mesmerizing journey into the darkest reaches of the human mind. As you are bombarded by mind-altering nightmares and destructive visions, you’ll want to escape…but there is nowhere to run when it’s all in your head.

Ragnarök: Winter’s End
A cold wind blows over the land, coating the countryside with a killing frost. Vikings rise from their graves for a great battle to come, as the roar of the Fenris Wolf pierces the night and rattles your bones. Ragnarök has arrived, and the end will consume us all.

The Vault
Welcome to the Vault, a secret government facility devoted to containing and studying anyone or anything with otherworldly power. Please follow all safety guidelines, as these containment chambers are no guarantee that you will be safe from the beings they contain…or the ones desperate to get out.

They Live
They influence our decisions without us knowing. They control our lives without us realizing it. Now, discover the horrifying truth: aliens have infiltrated our world and lulled us into submission, and they will do anything to ensure the truth never gets out.

Vanity: Scars of Perfection
For Dr. Clay and the associates at his beauty clinic, the human body is a canvas upon which to carve perfection. Every scream of agony and jolt of pain brought from their knives is but a steppingstone in their pursuit of beauty…and they will make you their next masterpiece.

What We Do in the Shadows
Enter the world of the FX television series, as you discover what goes on in the lives of vampires living among us. You’ll scream at the terror of Nandor the Relentless, you'll be chilled by the deadly duo of Nadja and Laszlo…and you'll be bored by the inane chatter of Colin.

Scare Zones:
Beetlejuice

No house can properly contain the Ghost with the Most, so Beetlejuice makes his ghoulish return with a brand new scare zone! Get ready for some laughter in your hereafter, because it’s showtime!

Dead By Daylight
Based upon the popular video game, find yourself in the clutches of the Entity and the sick game they have devised. A whole horde of twisted killers now stalk you and intend to sacrifice you to the Entity, so try to escape if you can: the death is always sweeter when hope is lost right at the end.

Midway of the Mind
Step right up to a carnival where your hidden fears and neuroses have been transformed into a twisted sideshow. Is this frightening fairground just one of the Mentalist’s astounding illusions, or are these cerebral carnies real enough to kill you?

Neon Night Terrors
Walk the streets of a cyberpunk dystopia where the pulse-pounding electronic music can never drown out the screams. Neon-lit punks and cybernetic slashers stalk their latest victims, lashing out in a future where your life is worth nothing.

Yokai on Parade
Eerie lights illuminate the night sky as the boundary between our world and the realm of the Yokai thins, allowing a mob of unearthly creatures to pass through. From mischievous tanukis to brutish oni, you'll be surrounded by a horde of nightmares straight from Japanese folklore.

Side Note: Anyone else have their own "Dream HHN-Anniversary" event?
I've thought about trying to write up an HHN anniversary event, but it's such a challenge to try to decide what stuff you want to revisit or play around for such an event. For instance, I've thought about new spins on old houses, or the idea of essentially "Icon houses" for Icons and related characters who never got such a house themselves. I could even see bringing back the Midway of the Bizarre, whether as a classic scare zone or even base a house around it.

Anyone got their own idea for a house featuring all the icons (like this years “Icons Captured”)?
I do actually! After my disappointment with Icons Captured I figured I would design a more cohesive Icons house.

Horror Nights: Icons Conjured

This version would dig deep into the icons lore and backstory, as I feel that using their commercials (?) for inspiration was where Captured takes a left turn. This version would also expand significantly on the less-featured icons like Chance, Eddie, and Lady Luck. I do like the idea of Fear's Lantern being the portal, so the set up is that guests are feeding their souls to the lantern to resurrect the icons for their eventual return. The facade would be a large scale version of the lantern prop, with flickering orange lighting and billowing fog pouring out from the open gate.

The first scene would take us back to the beginning, at Dr. Oddfellow's Carnival of Thrills to witness the birth of the first Horror Nights icon: Jack the Clown. Similar to the Freak Show segment from American Horror Story. Icons Conjured begins in a richly detailed turn of the century carnival, complete with caravans, overhead string lights, and echos of children's muffled screams. There is a shaking trunk next to Jack's trailer, where the bodies of his child victims were stored and we can still hear their pleas for mercy before Dr. Oddfellow emerges from the shadows in a panic as the ghostly laughs of Jack are heard. We then turn the corner to enter the infamous House of Horrors that will eventually be sold to the BBC documentary crew. In a dark room, the large jack in the box slowly cranks and bursts open to reveal the bloodied corpse of Jack Schmidt before the clown himself chases us through a funhouse maze into the next section.

We now find ourselves in a dilapidated trailer park being hunted by the film fanatic Eddie. Burnt husks of mobile homes and junked cars make navigating the space impossible as the revving sound of Eddies chainsaw assaults us from every turn. The main man himself attacks from over the tops of chain link fences and wrecked buildings. The smell smoke and flame pervades as we escape to the next scene.

We find ourselves deep within the halls of the Caretaker's manor, the ScreamHouse. Haunting organ music plays as we venture into the secret labs of Dr. Caine's house. Some of his undead patients try to snatch at us through secret doors and hiding spaces in the walls. Moth eaten curtains must be pushed aside before we come face to face with the Caretaker himself. We enter a ritualistic space where the burnt corpse of his daughter lies on an operating table surrounded by occult artifacts and surgical equipment. Chanting can be heard before her spirit splits the table in half as Cindy emerges from the underworld, intent to make us her next plaything.

The next scene takes us to the Director's editing bay. Rows of monitors show off the grisly art he's managed to capture on film as the scratchy melody of "You Outta Be in Pictures" plays on a nearby record player. The Director emerges from behind a stack of gear boxes and yells "action!" We turn the corner to find a man in a jester costume tied to a chair with hooks inserted in his mouth, pulling his mouth wide for a smile. We see him suffer in silent pain as strobe lights illuminate the scene and the Director bursts from the darkness behind the blinding flash of an umbrella light and yells "Cut!" while the scene goes black.

We then enter the home from Where Evil Hides for a reunion with the Storyteller. You can hear her narration the moment you enter the home and we turn to find her in a quiet, unassuming study. She reads from a necrinomicon with runes from Terra Cruentus on it. The bookshelf behind you slides open so that the nightmares the Storyteller conjures can attack. The next room is the Storyteller's library, where monsters like the Body Collectors, Pumpkin Head figures, and the Terra Queen will all attack from. I'm ignoring the demonic siren aspect that was introduced in Icons Captured because it's too similar to Lady Luck and also it makes more sense for Elsa to be some sort of witch who can lure victims with her stories and conjure the monsters within them.

The next scene takes us to the abandoned office of Dr. Mary Agana. We step through a large antique mirror to enter her realm. In the mirror realm, we pass a scene hidden by two way glass that illuminates Dr. Agana murdering one of her patients in the past. The lights go out and we hear the chant, "Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary" and the lights start going crazy as we must escape through a mirror maze where Bloody Mary reveals herself at every turn.

The next scene takes us to a catwalk above the screen at the Universal Palace Theater. We can see that we are far above the theater seating where Phantom of the Opera is playing. On the opposite side of the path, in the dusty rafters, the tragedy of the Usher plays out as he struggles in vain against the curtain rigging. We turn the corner when the ghostly figure of Julian appears and commands us to be silent. We then enter a theater hallway, with theater doors and movie posters on either side. At the far end, the Usher sits in a ticket booth while classic Universal Monsters like Frankenstein's Monster and Dracula attack from behind the posters. The Usher demands our tickets before we move on to the next scene.

We enter a glamorous 1960's casino...but something is amiss. Furniture is overturned, machines are in disarray, neon signage flashes, mauled bodies lie stuffed in corners, their flesh stripped completely to the bone. On a raised dias in the center of the space stands an alluring figure in a green dress, Lady Luck. She laughs coyly and warns against betting against the house, because the house always wins. As you navigate the room, her monstrous form emerges to attack from behind sparking slot machines as well as bursting through the velvet of a pool table that's been turned on its side. Jazzy lounge singers croon as you leave her hellish casino.

We finally emerge to Shadybrook Asylum for the Criminally Insane. We enter a padded cell where Chance, stripped of her makeup, revealing her hideous scars, is bound in a straight jacket. A music box in front of her begins to play before the the lighting dims to black and the wall behind her disappears (scrim effect), to reveal her Theater of the Mind. Chance stands victorious on stage, knives in hand, and takes a bow. We then enter a disorienting scene where the sound of the music box grows to a crescendo and a maze of padded walls and stained bedsheets hide Chance and all her Lunatics.

The finale takes back to the interior of the lantern, where the tangled roots and fog allow a perfect hiding space for all the Icons to appear simultaneously. We receive one final scare from Fear himself before exiting.

Anybody knows what rooms were featured at any incarnations of the Dungeon of Terror at HHN. Cause this may factor into the house idea I’m going to write later.

Here’s my idea for an house based on characters on Horror Nights. Predominately ICONS, but also featuring scenes based on rather ICONIC characters on the past. Here’s a few things to start though:

1. I’m out of the loop on Horror nights for a while, so I don’t really get how things work behind the scenes, so I imagine this wouldn’t be a very good maze.

2. I’m not giving bullocks about being realistic.

3. This isn’t so much imaginative as it is ripping off scenes from other houses.

Let’s go

ICONIC HORROR

Queue would be like the opening scene of Hallow’d Past, where you come across shelves featuring props of HHN. Unlike that house though, these shelves would be numbered in specific years with Roman Numerals. There would also be little TVs that display video content like the Port of Evil Caretaker segment.

The facade would be a recreation of the key Art for 2007’s Carnival of Carnage.

FIRST SEGMENT- UNIVERSAL CLASSIC MONSTERS

The Opening scene of 2004’s Horror in Wax. You walk through a hallway where statues of the Classic Monsters lie hanging. Not all of them are statues though… Each night, there would be a different monster who’s “not really a statue” to surprise returning guests. The atmosphere is quiet with no soundtrack.

After that you trespass on a very short hallway where Beetlejuice pops out.

SECOND SEGMENT- THE CRYPTKEEPER

Something something Cryptkeeper.

THIRD SEGMENT- MISCELLANIOUS

This would split into two paths. The first you simply walk though a room where the Eyegore demon from the 1997 ads flys from above via Bungees. A giant floating eyeball also pops out (puppet) from a wall.

The second path is taken from Insanity (?). You and other guests are locked in a holding room where all of a sudden you fools see a pair of bird like eyes and claws gleaming in the light. Then it’s pitch black and you feel something scraping you in the foot. Then you are let go. (This is a homage to the Journey to Fear key art). Both sides you end by walking into a giant screaming heads mouth (Primal Scream).

(I’m debating including a Mummy segment as 1999 did feature a Mummy in the key art however the house that year was based on the 1999 film. So for now I’ll leave it undecided.)

FOURTH SEGMENT- JACK THE CLOWN

You enter into an old House of Horrors exhibit from an old carnival. The walls are faded and the fabric hangs and the atmosphere is eerily quiet (minus screams from the guests behind the walls after all). Littering the rooms are giant children’s toys and playing blocks. After a few moments of stillness, a familiar tune rings. The “Pop Goes the Weasel” sound (specifically from 2015) sounds off quietly at first, then grows louder at each verse. When it ends, first there is silence then at the end of the room, the Giant Jack in the Box pops open and out springs the body of Jack Schmidt!

At the next room, it’s similar to the rooms previous but with the bodies of the BBC Crew, Doctor Oddfellow, and the victim of 2007’s commercial lying on the floor. All of a sudden they all spring up and pounce on you, only stopped by an invisible wall (this is a super advanced Scrim Wall (?) except it’s always visible).

FIFTH SEGMENT- EDUARDO

In contrast to the disturbing quietness of Jack’s segment, you trespass upon Eduardo’s turf (yes I’m calling Eddie as Eduardo because I can) which is blasted Rob Zombie’s music and flashing lights and horns.

You enter a room filled with chain link and a wall in the center. You try to make your way through but Eduardo suddenly appears in the exit and rums his chainsaw. You then try to go the other way but then Jack (somehow) appears at that end and they force you to go into a circle. Suddenly baseball bats start firing at the walls and the room rotates. Then Eduardo let’s you go. Again it’s a two path thing.

The second path is another chainlink piece but with a ball pit.

Both sides end in a path where you walk through a series of dark cavern like structures transitioning into…

SIXTH SEGMENT- PAGING DR. CAINE

Once again you learn calm.

The next room is a near identical recreation of the set from the 2002 commercials. A cart with surgical equipment and a bowl of water, a sink, morgue beds with bodies laying in covers, and glass jars underneath. The lighting is well-lit so that you can appreciate all the details. Suddenly the bodies suddenly spring up out of nowhere and the laugh of the Caretaker sings.

Exiting, you come across a foggy netherworld where a child’s voice utters words like “Won’t you come out and play?”. A giant hologram of Cindy Caine’s face apparates at the end, with porcelain skin, before her flesh melts and her eyes glow flames. Out of now where, Carnage, DinoMen, Knightmare, and the Treaks and Foons chase you out.

SEVENTH SEGMENT- CUT!

Something something Director. Would probably involve his victims- the jester with hooks in his face, the bathtub man, someone guillotined, etc. This would be a very large room; not a hallway.

(I was thinking of putting an Ice Queen and Fire King segment but I don’t think they’re ICONIC.)

EIGHTH SEGMENT- LUNACY LUNACY

Yet another holding cell, it’s all white and very bright and suddenly the walls crack and blood pours from the walls and ceilings. You are let go.

NINTH SEGMENT- THE STORYTELLER

This completely recreates the set from 2005’s commercial- not the same thing as Where Evil Hides nor the scene from Icons Captured. The Storyteller would pull a scissor and cut an rope. The anvil would then fall on the victim on the bed of nails, spraying blood an you as the body convulses. This may be a distraction for a giant killer cat puppet to pounce.

Next part will be below.

TENTH SEGMENT- TERRA CRUENTUS

You walk into a treasure room depicting the relics of Terra Cruentus- The Terra Blade, Hollow Chime, Gorewood Skull, Blood Vessel, and Iron Bone Gorge Goblet. The design of this room is similar to the Asgardian treasury room from the MCU but with the Terra Symbol. All of a sudden the doors close and you are locked in. The Chime suddenly glows and emits a harmonious sound and other relics follow suit. You are ambushed by the Terra Ghouls, Knucklegrunts, and the Gnomerats.

MINI SEGMENT

In a short carnival hallway, Freddy’s slash marks would scrape the walls, Jason’s theme (“Kill”) would blare, and Leatherface would slide a door and charge from behind.

ELEVENTH SEGMENT- PAGING DR. AGANA

The spinning tunnel is a recreation of the one scene in the “Mirror” segment of 2008’s website. It’s red, rocky, wonderland cards are strung about and you hear Mary’s voice commanding you to speak her name.

Exiting, you find yourself disoriented by strobes as antique mirrors line the walls. These mirrors are actually designed to fit the houses and zones from when these characters originated- the Hallow Mirror is framed with branches, the Body Collectors mirror is lined Victorian style. Oh and yeah characters from 2008 pop out from the mirrors.

Then you enter a mirror maze because ja.

Finally there is another commercial recreation set piece. The room is dusty and old; antiques are everywhere, a fireplace with a wolfs head on top, a portrait of an old lady, and a large vanity mirror is the centerpiece. Suddenly the roof cracks open to reveal a giant Bloody Mary roaring and lunging at guests with a fountain pen. The fireplace also roars with fire.

TWELVETH SEGMENT- UNIVERSAL PALACE THEATER

Suddenly you’re in an old lobby. It is cracked and snacks and popcorn are loitered on the floor. The Wolfman comes out of nowhere and swipes at you then disappears. After a short lobby transition, you find yourself in a giant theater room where the Usher introduces himself on a big screen. Passing through, you find that you have shrunken down to small size as giant versions of Chucky his dolls attack you in a crusty warehouse.

Inside the warehouse, you see a man trying to pull himself from a leg trap (referencing one of the theater victims) as Sculders attack. Finally the Usher’s body drops down from above.

THIRTEENTH SEGMENT- FEAR THE FEAR

Then you find yourself in a what appears to be an underground cavern filled with roots and what appears to be flames everywhere. A victim lies on an altar begging for help when suddenly Adaru apparates and rips the victims heart with his bare hands and throws it at you.

FOURTEENTH SEGMENT- INIQUITUS

Something something Iniquitus

FIFTEENTH SEGMENT- FINALE

This recreates the finale scene from Dungeon of Terror with flashing lights and monsters. The end.

(I got lazy during the second half).

This is my dream Year 31, that totally won't happen but hey. If you want a more realistic vision of what next year will look like, just substitute all of my IP houses except maybe one with Netflix properties because all hail the mighty dollar lol.

ICON: For years, Eddie has lived in the shadows of larger-than-life Icons, unknowingly preparing him as a greater part of Fear's plan. As he's strived through pain, suffering, and opportunities that have been taken away from him, his loyalty has molded him into the sixth herald of Fear: A herald of Obsession. Never quitting on his goal to not simply share the stage with his peers, but to become the greatest of them, Eddie takes over Halloween Horror Nights this season to prove that legends aren't created. They're built from gallons of blood, sweat, and fears.

(With the "Icons" house conclusion leaving every previous Icon trapped in Fear's lantern-hell-thingy, this felt like the perfect opportunity to showcase the Icon that never was. Like Jack last year, Eddie isn't just going to be confined to a house or one zone, he'll be appearing with his roaming chainsaw horde at various locations around the park. Obsession plays a role in so many horror stories, both fictional and in the real world around us, that utilizing it as Fear's next herald theme seemed like a great fit for the slasher movie buff and loyal Icon-in-waiting that Eddie has always been.)

ScareZones:

Deadliest Club on Earth
- Upon entering the park, guests stumble across a happy reunion of Hellgate prisoners, enjoying their first month of freedom following a breakout led by former inmate and killer-on-the-run, Eddie Schmidt. Eddie, his new followers, and few familiar faces attempt to scare parkgoers silent about their secret celebration.

(This is both Eddie's signature zone, featuring all the grit and attitude we've come to expect from him, as well as a potential springboard for future Icons. Many of the escaped inmates here are distinct and original characters created for this zone with their own backstories. Also expect fan-favorite storyline relevant non-icons like H.R. Bloodengutz to make an appearance here too.)

Universal Monsters: The Highest Bid - A traditional auction held at a New York museum turns dangerous when the ancient curse of Imhotep ties misfortune to every artifact being appraised. Avoid the same fate as the clandestine bidders and discover secrets about this auction's dark history through clues scattered amongst the forbidden objects.

(This was originally conceived as a standalone zone a couple of years back, but I figured I'd take this opportunity to tie the OG Monsters into it in some way. Thematically, it fits great in the NY scarezone space, right in front of the Mummy ride entrance. Scares & actors include some carnivorous furniture, Monster-related artifacts & their respective creatures, and a staged "sacrifice" where guests will choose which museum device will be used to dispatch the intended victim.)

Body Collectors: Marketplace - Abandoned by their creator, the Body Collectors have taken up residence in the streets of Hollywood. Here, they command respect as the underground barters of all things morbid and macabre (handmade goods, of course). Witness their bustling hidden marketplace and be careful, lest you be marked for sale yourself!

(The Body Collectors make a triumphant return after being absent for HHN 30, giving them an updated place of residence and popularity among a certain demographic of the world with eyes for their wares. The setting looks like a meticulously kept marketplace like you would find at a farmer's market, just with a lot more gore and bone where the produce would otherwise be.)

Channel Zero - Unsettling characters from Nick Antosca's anthological TV series roam the streets of San Francisco, as the show's most twisted scenes play out before your eyes.

(I want to give CZ its own series of houses, but I figure it's probably best to start with a zone that can familiarize casual guests with some of the show's characters first. I envision this utilizing smaller setpieces and more actors engaging with guests in the street, to cut down as much as possible on the bottlenecking that takes place there.)

Return to Silent Hill - Walk through a dreamlike, foggy Central Park as the hidden citizens of Silent Hill lurk within the shroud of mist.

(A dream return-IP for me. We're far more likely to get some Resident Evil synergy this year before we ever see SH again, but I'd still love to see it have a zone in Central Park. Small dimly lit lanterns wrapped in tendrils of barbed wire adorn the trees and fog is cranked up to 11 in this location when you hear the town's siren start to blare over the eerie game theme.)

...(double-posting only because I absolutely need to)...

Houses:

Candyman
- The legacy of the Candyman legend comes to life as parkgoers step through Cabrini-Green's history and into the lair of the titular character, as he entices them all to "be his victim". (Soundstage house)

(I'm taking a crack at the 2021 film in a way that embraces the original film series as well. While Anthony will be featured in the maze, the point is to highlight the entire "hive" of Candymen and promote Robitaille most of all.)

Vanity Ball: Winter Formal - The eclectic crew of surgical artists and their deranged subjects have taken their show on the road, to New York City's own fashion week. You've been invited to a high-profile party on a chilly evening being heated up by a crowd that's dressed not just to impress, but to dissect. (Soundstage house)

(The sequel I've been wanting to my favorite zone. While there might still be some lighthearted moments in a couple of scenes throughout this house, the overall mood will be a lot more intense and the characters will be racking up a major body count.)

Suspiria - Dario Argento's visual masterpiece comes to life in a vibrant and violent visit to the Freiburg Dance Academy and it's collection of deep, dark secrets. (Shared Soundstage house)

(My dream IP house, that would naturally feel like walking through a dream in tone. Expect a showcase of iconic settings straight out of the movie, with a lot of inventive scares to make up for the lack of a tangible, singular villain throughout most of the film.)

Urban Legends: Hunger of the Wendigo - When desperation sets in amongst a young hiker and her friends lost off the trail of a midwestern campsite, hunger turns to panic and panic turns to betrayal as they are haunted by the story of the Wendigo. Follow the trail further and further into the claustrophobic darkness that awaits you as the sinister beings lurk just beyond the shadows. (Shared Soundstage house)

(This is an ambitious house that tells a story. The appearance of the titular creature is a slow-build, with early rooms focusing more on the campers giving in to their greed and paranoia as things lurk around them.)

Vamp '65 - 10 years after a violent incident at Hollywood High School was investigated by the authorities, beat poets of the early 60s have inspired a generation of psychedelics and counterculture protests. Two San Franciscan activists prepare to tell their story of what really happened at Hollywood High through a song of protest at a major concert. But what the rebellious duo brought back to San Francisco will soon turn this gathering of peace & love into a nightmarish bloodbath. (MIB Tent)

(Another zone-turned-house, Vamp '65 bridges the gap between not only the previous Vamp zones but some other vampire lore as well in a frantic way. The ending of this one contrasts with the mood and color scheme leading up to it, which is always the kind of tonal shift I enjoy)

Masters of Horror: Stuart Gordon - In tribute to the late legend of the horror world, revisit some of the most memorable and disturbing images that Stuart Gordon brought to the screen. From the second you're greeted by Dolls' infamous "Teddy", you'll enter a nonstop assault by freaks and fiends alike. The legacy of Mr. Gordon will push the limits of your sanity. (Sprung Tent)

(I would love a full Re-Animator treatment, but I'm also all for recognizing how great several scenes from Stuart's filmography would be within HHN's house formats. This provided an interesting challenge too of thinking about how each film scene could line up in a thematic succession.)

Fairground Frenzy: Killer Cookoff - The Ohio State Fair prize is on the line as two rival chefs hold nothing back in their quest to produce the tastiest burgers of the year. Here's hoping you're not on the menu! (Sprung Tent)

(Not your typical "slaughterhouse" maze, this is more geared towards some dark humor and one of the burgers containing a "secret ingredient" that drives everyone at the fair into a rabid state. Expect some fun cameos from a couple of characters and a couple of my more ambitious scenes for the tent houses.)

The Frighteners - Dive into the world of (in)famous exorcist Frank Bannister and his unearthly business partners as they race to stop the string of mysterious "Grim Reaper" murders. (Parade Building)

(I grew up with this movie, and it's visuals, atmosphere, and characters are close to my heart to this day. What starts lighthearted and almost as a comedy house turns into a series of great scares and creepy scenery.)

Beyond the Blue Window - Long ago, Spanish settlers in what's known today as Florida blamed their new village's hardships on a handful of accused witches. The outcasts' punishment banished them to a forbidden Key island, where the rules of reality twist and those who have seen its shores may never set foot back home again. (Parade Building)

(This is probably the "biggest" of my original houses in scale. Setting a house on an island is no easy feat, and it presents both a lot of unique obstacles as well as opportunities to try scares in fresh ways. The storyline told here is a really fun one too.)

Ju-On: The Grudge - Japan's hit horror saga has taken up residence at Universal Studios. Experience the tragic history of the Saeki family and their unending vengeance as you try to survive a night in Tokyo's most horrifying house without being overcome by the deadly curse. (Shrek 4D/new location)

(Shrek is a perfect location for an intimate, claustrophobic house like this, where so much of the source material takes place in a couple of locations. While the characters aren't as popular in the west as they were 10+ years ago, I still think they're long overdue for a resurgence in popularity.)

...(double-posting only because I absolutely need to)...

Houses:

Love the Vanity Ball as a house concept. I think it would work really well and be something like American Mary if anyone's seen that movie. Suspiria is also something that would work incredibly well with the right design, like the Exorcist or the Shining. I just think of that scene where they're all sleeping in the gym and you can see the shadows behind the beds.

I’d love a metal house so your slipknot scaresone sounds awesome. I just love to see a drummer in one of the rooms like puppet theater had with the guy reciting Shakespeare, with you walking around the live performers.

This is not an idea for an event- or at least a realistic event as there’s no way this is ever coming to pass. That and this is the work of my weird “imagination” and crossover obsessions. Picture that Universal… somehow made some licensing deals to get several characters from different IPs and tied them together to the world of Terra Cruentus. Some of them are actually from HHN itself. And only one of them is from an actual horror IP.

THE BACKGROUND

Beyond the Terra Gate lies a world that is fueled by fresh blood sacrifices. Within all 7 realms lies an “epicenter” that is the home base of the Seven Terra Gods, the mightiest of all entities and the overseers of these realms. Lieing in servitude to the Gods and to Terra Cruentus itself are the Black Guard, in order of rank. And they are not satisfied with merely staying in their own worlds.

CRUENTUS CORE
  • ???? (Probably a Mother Gaia type of character)
  • ????

TERRA GATE
  • Eelmouth (HHN 15): The God of Ritual. Firmly a believer of tradition, he directs an intricate system for the Bloody world. At the end of the Terra Gate, a large hybrid of mineral and vegetable called the Gorewood Tree lies in wait for the Pure of Heart. Every night for a festival called the Season of the Queen, Eelmouth would order them to be sacrificed via The Blade or other Terra weaponry so that their blood can nurture the roots of the Tree. Every Season, a Terra Queen is sacrificed to the Gorewood Throne itself and a new one emerges.
  • ????

NORTH HOLLOW
  • Freddy Krueger (A Nightmare on Elm Street): God of Torment. Don’t let his cheery demeanor and Christmas sweater fool you, Freddy is a entity that inflicts (and is empowered by) the emotions of fear, hatred, and sorrow- all of which make up torment. Resides in the epicenter known as Maldaken Pass, itself a living dreamscape of absolute despair, but is a fairly “hands on” god and would come out constantly to personally maim as many as he pleases.
  • The Scarecrow (Batman): Freddy’s own Black Guardsman. The Scarecrow specializes in fear, both to study it and inflict it. Freddy gave him access to build a whole research facility in North Hollow, which provides a variety of “test subjects”. Crane is able to hold his own with his sinister scythe and ounces of fear toxin.

DRAGON FORGE
  • Ares (DC Comics, Wonder Woman): God of War. So infamous even the Greeks decided to have him as their own God of War for their own mythology. A factoid that he is most pleased of. Ares is a immensely powerful fighter, but not however the dumb brute as the myths tend to portray him as. Once he had the idea to have all living beings wage war against each other into oblivion but an Amazonian warrior was able to convince him why it was a bad idea. Still, he keeps a eye on those ready for battle and is eager to aid those who ask for his prayer. He works mostly behind the scenes though and dwells in the Abysmal Deep, Dragon Forge’s epicenter below the Terror Mines.
  • Guderalle (HHN 15): The 4th of command of the Black Guard. Guderalle be of Gnomerat birth, a secret she keeps well hidden. The Gnomerats walked in the Forge before the time of the Terra Queen, and hide deep in the caverns of the Terror Mines, though Ares mostly leaves them be. Because of this, Guderalle knows many a secret of the old world and of the present Terra Cruentus, such as the recipe for Gorewood Brandy, Cruentus Champagne and Bloodberry Wine; as well as the way to the epicenter where Freddy resides. However, she is much fond of her position of power and keeps these historical facts to herself, though she does drop the odd hints to strangers often.

GOREWOOD FOREST
  • Mystique (X-Men): Goddess of Transformation. A supremacist who flirts with the concept of destiny, she believes herself and her fellow gods to be above the “normal” people. Still she entertains the idea of turning all mortals (such as humans) into super powered beings like herself. And with her power of shapeshifting, she’s not above interfering (or screwing around) with mortal affairs. Mystique is a very deceptive character, even the other gods are wary of her treacherous nature. The Collectors’ Facility and the Skool was of her direct will, and she would often visit the children to personally mold them into the ways of Terra Cruentus and how to have fun (even if it comes at the expense of the teachers lives). She also has a sharp wit and flaming temper that could rival the Disney version of Hades.
  • The Midnight Man (HHN 7 Singapore): A practitioner of the dark acts, he delved too deeply into it and was consumed by the sin of manipulation. The Midnight Man was recruited by Mystique to be a member of the Black Guard. He is able to grant those who ask the gifts of dark magic, but afterwards they would live to regret it. After they face the horrible repercussions, their own souls would be collected by the Midnight Man to sustain himself. Resides in the deepest recesses of the Gorewood Forest.

SOUTH HOLLOW
  • Eris (Sinbad of the Seven Seas): On land in South Hollow, bizarre is the sight. In Eris’s estate, the fools and ghouls rule the night. The goddess of discord plots, cheats, and deceives, yet she herself is not amused when she tastes defeat. A world’s fall into chaos is her heart’s greatest desire, which to the humbled Ares are events he wish not transpire. But like the god of war, she knows the value of honor, unlike Freddy who sees it as merely a goner.
  • Saix (Kingdom Hearts): Pretty face, flippable hair; a dashing gentleman one could see by appearance. However harsh words and crueler actions are a great part of this Guardsman’s coherence. And beneath THAT lies an creature of lunacy, under Eris’s command shall he unleash great cruelty.

IRON BONE GORGE
  • Oogie Boogie (The Nightmare Before Christmas): God of Celebration. And a literal sack of bugs. Oogie Boogie loves to gamble and dance, and has an impressive singing voice. He owns a bar called “Oogie’s Demon Cantina” where all the Black Guard and Bone Chopper Riders gather together to drink and party, and he’s usually the one who hosts, providing musical acts sung by his truly. Woe befalls those foolish enough to trespass on their turf though, as Oogie does not take kindly to unwanted trespassers… though he does like to present them as live “games of chance”. He resides in the epicenter of Iron Bone Gorge, a realm of fate and dice. Should the dice not fall in your favor, you will share the fate of the Pure of Heart.
  • ????

I’m probably not going to finish the rest, my minds now whacked up. If someone cares about it, feel free to fill your own roster.
