I'm disappointed by the fact you didn't quote Vader..... "I find your lack of faith disturbing"

So I guess it's been confirmed that Star Wars will be taking over Big Thunder Ranch and nearby backstage areas. That includes Circle D, the animal barn. Say goodbye to BBQ and goats. Now I just wonder where they will host special events and performing children.

Toon Town and Big Thunder Mountain to remain untouched.

This makes more sense to me, as I said before I had no idea how they planned on doing the fireworks if Star Wars was to be built on Toon Town. It would be silly to close Star Wars early everyday.

Whoa! Awesome, Allen. What a small world, I had no idea that was you and I took your picture. You even commented to say thanks on Facebook. Had no idea it was you! Great costume! Haha

Thanks girl!!! Really appreciate it, it was so much fun :D My costume being acknowledged and so well received by Disney and the judges and other attendees made me feel so good. Really cool seeing myself on the news too!

DO NOT WANT! I'm sorry, but "Soarin' over the World" should be exclusive to Epcot. And it should mostly use the countries represented in World Showcase.

I want DCA's to remain "Soarin' over California".... however, for the love of god, change out the Disneyland flyover to non-Christmas please! I don't mind if its the holiday season, but sheesh... (actually that would be an amazing holiday overlay... "Soarin' over California: Holidays"... MAKE THIS A THING!) lol

I 100% agree. I'm devastated. Can't say I'm not surprised though, considering that they didn't change the interior of our Soarin' at all after the land reimagining, and the main ride signage has a removable "Over California".

It's been my family's all time favorite since our first visit to DCA in 2002, and I love it even more now that it's crisp and digital. They're sucking the California right out of Disney California Adventure....

This new version is perfect for Shanghai and Epcot (especially Epcot), but makes no sense in DCA, outside from Grizzly Airfield having to do with flying. It's honestly change for the sake of change. We don't NEED this change. Soarin' has always been one of the most popular rides in both parks, and is even more popular now after the refresh, and it's just so...perfect. The music and homage to California is so gorgeous, and it's a classic now. To change out the film in Soarin' before addressing the mess that Hollywood Land is is just bonkers (even though I'm sure that's the next project). I'm sure I'll love Soarin' Around The World, it sounds pretty exciting and will be beautiful, but I'm not excited.

If they at least keep the classic score or at least a new version of it, I'll be somewhat happy.

Pity they don't split the queue somehow and have one theatre be Over California, and one be Around The World, and let guests decide before joining the queue.

I'm also surprised that with today's technology that they didn't announce that it'll have a randomized location experience like Star Tours...

I'm crossing my fingers that they'll eventually bring the original Soarin' Over California film back for special fan events or a limited time event in the future, since the original ride profile and program can be saved, and since the footage was converted beautifully to digital for posterity. Would be a nice throwback in many years as a "temporary nostalgia" overlay.

Give it time.... I'm sure randomized and "in 3D" will be on the way for it... lol

I remember saying that they needed to leave half the Star Tours cabins "original" & the other half "new adventures" haha... I miss the original Star Tours only because of Captain Rex (yay for his cameo in Star Wars: Rebels episode "Droids in Distress"), but I enjoy the new version..

I do think it is stupid though for the Soarin' change. It is unnecessary, especially when they can just update it with new/different/seasonal California footage. These parks will never learn that cloning everything (and making it exact duplicates) gives people no incentive to visit the other parks because they've already experienced what is there. And I hate that.

So I'll have to assume Soarin will have to go down AGAIN for the first half of 2016 to redo the entryway, although I expect them to go as cheaply as possible. Some repainting, new signage but that's really about it. Obviously the loading corridors will stay mostly the same.

Edit: however one good thing is that Jerry Rees is attached to the project, which all but guarantees the preshow film will be updated. Probably still with Warburton of course.

Looking forward to Soarin' Over the World, but it would've been nice to have it randomized. Hopefully they'll also bring back the original for a limited time at some point.

I think there's customized endings. DCA's will end with an updated Disneyland flyover, Epcot will end with visitors soaring over Future World and into World Showcase and SHDL just over Shanghai. I'm pretty sure on this.

If they can incorporate Patrick Warburton into the new safety video, I'll be happy. If they can incorporate the original music into the ride somehow or at least a version of it, I'll also be happy (kind of like the Paint the Night music has touches of the electrical parade as a tribute).

I'm very curious how much they'll update the interior queue, if at all or the theme of it. It still has that industrial look compared to the new "woodsy" exterior

I can't imagine any scenario in which Warburton isn't involved. He's not exactly an A-list actor, and he's pretty much the face of that attraction in both parks. Shanghai is getting an entirely different preshow setup, so you don't have to worry about them.

Honestly, as much as I'd love a 3rd park with a general adventure theme, THAT would be epic. That's what's cool about Star Wars. It's not just "generic sci-fi and outer space". There's so many amazing fantasy world's within!

Cars Land had a mild response at best and certainly wasn't the Universal killer they were hoping for. There was no hype and general interest until it finally opened. Star Wars is on a completely different level. People might as well start queuing up right now.

Sorry, just noticed this - Disney California Adventure grew almost 20% from 2011 to 2012. That's anything but mild.

Cars Land is still one of the resort's biggest draws to this day.

Yeah, Cars Land was the thing that made almost everybody agree that DLR had officially become a 2-to-3 day destination if you're a tourist. (although I still can't wrap my head around the people who come to Anaheim for a straight week... hopefully they shake things up by heading to Universal/Knott's/Six Flags one of those days)

20% for a land as big as Cars Land isn't saying much considering the park's footprint also grew by 1/5. It did exactly what it was supposed to and nothing more. Most of the attraction lines today are no longer than they were in 2010.

I would argue that World of Color in 2010 was when everything changed and DLR became a resort destination.

I don't understand why you're being so dogmatic about this. Cars Land was sizable addition - that's a fact. Universal Studios Florida saw a 17% increase in attendance when Diagon Alley opened. By your logic, that's mild too, yes?

Look, I adore World of Color, but Disneyland and Disney California Adventure only saw a 1% increase in attendance for both parks in 2011.

Sorry, but you're just wrong on both points. Completely wrong.

There's a tendency for the theme park community to conflate their interests with that of the general public. Just because you aren't a fan of a certain franchise doesn't mean said franchise doesn't resonate with the public. This sheer disconnect between fact and opinion boggles my mind. It's fine to have an opinion, but it's not fine when your opinions aren't based on concrete evidence.

Without trying to come off as condescending or anything, but if you believe that a 20% increase in attendance from the addition of one land isn't much, you need to lower your expectations. Carsland to this day is the only theme park land that has garnered 100% positive guest feedback in the history of Disney Parks and Resorts. I am curious as to hear what you base success on?
